We had a really good meal at Food Lab and would highly recommend it to others. We wanted to order everything but settled on 3 share plates and a main. Highlights were the duck fat fingerlings and chili crisp gnocchi. The curry dumplings and oyster mushroom arancini were also quite good. The portion size on the share plates is generous and the main was large. Everything tasted great and was nicely seasoned. There are several dishes wed try the next time we visit. Our server Phillip was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and was present the perfect amount. He recommended a very tasty Osmote Pét-Nat and his description (“it’s like a white Airhead, but drier”) was spot on. Make sure you have a reservation, especially on busy nights. Seating is somewhat limited, but there are a few bar spots. Would definitely go back and bring another couple along to try more dishes.

Walked in (for reservation that you’ll likely need) to be greeted by warm attentive staff. Food is next level. I’m talking big city stuff. 9 out of 10 easily. Pleasantly surprised. If you’re lucky, Philip will be your server. He’s a fun rock star of a server.

The menu and food were trying to be fancy and creative and sounded great, and it’s certainly priced that way, but everything was way off balance and/or missing ingredients. Everything was way too salty, rich, and had no freshness nor acidity for relief. The Nori Steak Taco Box was INSANELY salty, and I didn’t see nor taste nori on the steak. Two of the components (rice cake and prawns) were almost exactly like the prawn appetizer, so it felt redundant. The soup of the day, pepper and tomato seemed like pasta sauce adjusted to be called soup??; It was way too salty, rich, super THICK, and the portion size was huge. The dishes weren’t timed well either. We sat with nothing for a long time, and then dishes came out really fast one after the other. We got the soup right at mains, so things were disjointed and plates didn’t fit on the table.
The service was also pretty slow. Staff were nice, but seemed like they were more hanging out chatting with the bar than tending tables.

We ate at Food Lab and had a fantastic experience. The restaurant was extremely busy, and it honestly seemed like Kylie was the only server working — but you never would have known it from her demeanor. She stayed calm, cool, and incredibly friendly the entire time. She was attentive, helpful, and handled the rush like an absolute pro.
On top of that, the food was delicious, came out quickly, and was served nice and hot. Everything about the experience exceeded our expectations.

Wow. Really good. Everything we ate was outstanding. The charred lemon burrata was perfect and both the red sauce and the pesto sauces that it came with were yum. The new chicken parm was also amazing – crispy and perfectly cooked, also with both of those delicious sauces. Our server Phillip was super helpful and knowledgeable, and really fun! All the staff were smiling and kind and helpful. Will definitely return.

Had high hopes and really wanted to like this place but unfortunately it disappointed. A very creative menu but seemed to miss the mark on all the dishes we ordered. The best dishes we had were the Cornflake chicken breast and the Brussel sprouts
