Second time at Birdies for date night. Went super early at 5 pm on a week night right before the snow storm and they didn’t have a line out the door like usually. First time I was there they had a la carte ordering. This time it was a set menu and set price so be wary of the menu costing you a pretty penny but honestly with the food and service it was worth it. Great portions, delicious warm food, great presentation, and excellent service. So def worth the price! Maybe bc it was a slow night for them but the staff was extra attentive, to a point where they were switching out plates faster than the entrees and items. Nicely done, wine selection was extensive and expensive, worth it though if you are down to spend. Best part of the menu was the soup for me! So good I want to lick the bowl, We got the bread as extra, and paid the extra for the diff entrees so we could try both, less impressed by the entrees. On point for the dessert, both options were great. With the rotating menu I’m excited to come back and try something different next time. Keep up the good work Michelin all star team.

This experience was a bit confusing. Went there with friends on a weekday dinner when I visited Austin and was told that this is a Michelin restaurant.
We were nicely greeted by the front desk who introduced the menu to us. With 100+ pp pricing level, I was expecting a fine dining experience. The game rule here is that customers need to stand by the frond desk, make the order, pay everything, get a table sign, go around and find somewhere to sit and place the sign on the table, wait for server to come with drink and food. I did not really agree with the fact that we had to pay tips before receiving any service.
The food was marketed as seasonal menu and the ingredients were sourced carefully and locally. They were not bad, but not impressive either. The sauce in salad and pasta were nicely balanced and creative, but the rest of the food were just okay. Again, given the pricing, I would expect more.
The wine list was very comprehensive. It would be great if they offer wine pairing to supplement the pre-fixe menu.

They have limited reservations nightly but mainly do walk-ins, so if you can’t get reservations that doesn’t mean you’re out of luck. The line moves tragically slow even when they have tables open (I’ve yet to figure out why, but I’m sure there’s a reason). You place your initial drink order and modifications (if any) to the à la carte menu at the counter before being seated. If you don’t have reservations you pick your seating on the outdoor patio.
As noted, the menu is à la carte and changes monthly. They have a vast selection of beverages; they have more nonalcoholic beverages than most places and the selection is great.
The food is absolutely delicious and it’s quick to see how they earned their Michelin star. To date, the cabbage and evercrisp apple soup with chives is my favorite dish, but I’ve not had a single bad bite.
Everyone we have encountered seems genuinely happy to work there and offers excellent service.
The only unfortunate things about dining here are the parking (which is non existent – just get a ride share) and the acoustics. Everyone on the patio was shouting to be heard and it felt like the music kept getting louder as the diners did.

We had such a great time at Birdie’s. From the drink in line while we waited for the table, to the excellent and attentive service and the fantastic food it was 10/10. The wine list was so well curated and there was a solid list of by the glass wines to choose from. Shout out to Justin for some great recs in Austin as well as great service. We had a fantastic time and will be back next time we’re in Austin!

Finally made it to Birdie’s to celebrate a recent promotion. We arrived 10 minutes before opening, and there were 6 people in line before us. We were welcomed outside with a carefully selected wine menu that we ordered from before stepping inside. The service was what you would expect from any restaurant restaurant in its class. Unfortunately, for us the food just didn’t live up to any of the hype. We added on the special pesto pasta of the night. I’m not sure what happened, but it was like somebody knocked over the container of salt into the pan. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a dish that salty, let alone from a restaurant of this caliber. This single dish almost ruined the entire meal for us. The highlight of the meal, was actually the salad. We both agreed, we could eat that with every meal. The beef and puree was the next best dish. The puree had a savory and sweet flavor that near pefectly accompanied the flavors of the beef. The beef itself was cooked just to our liking. Even being one of the highlights of the meal, we did not consider this on par with other beef dishes we have enjoyed in Austin. Neither of the desserts, chocolate soft serve and olive oil cake, were ones we would seek out again.

I don’t know what this restaurant has done to attract a two‑hour line for an ultra‑expensive menu considering what they offer.
The venue is nice but feels cheap—though that part didn’t really bother us.
What truly doesn’t make sense is the price relative to the food. I had a soup and a salad with good ingredients, but nothing more. Then a plate of pasta as the main course, followed by a single meatball and a dessert. Everything was paired with a fantastic Basque wine, but even that was $29 per person.
The pasta was very good, the meatball was whatever, and the rest of the courses were so insignificant that they don’t even deserve a proper rating. Price: $145. Actual value of the meal: no more than $60.
I’ve been told that other months are better and that the food-to-price ratio makes sense then. February, however, felt like a Ponzi scheme. I’m not sure if I’ll give the restaurant another try, but if I do and the experience changes my mind, I’ll come back and add a note.
Answering the answer: Wrong wine. Wrong justification. I am sure that most of the months the value is aligned with the price. Not in February 2026.

Since moving to Austin, I dove head first into the restaurant scene in attempts to find my favorite restaurants. I’ve been to many places, but nowhere tops Birdie’s.
Their service is above and beyond. The level of care and warmth makes you feel like a guest in their home. And the food! Their pre fixe menus (which rotate about every other month, give or take) are all to die for (or cry happy tears for). The flavor profiles of every dish, even the seemingly simple ones! Incredible!
The pictures included are from their last two menus. Absolutely chef’s kiss. Thank you Birdie’s!

I had the most beautiful birthday dinner at Birdies! From the moment we walked in, the warmth of the space and the team made me feel truly celebrated. Justin’s wine pairing suggestions were phenomenal and so thoughtfully chosen. What really stayed with me was the genuine care from Justin and the entire staff. Their kindness, attentiveness, and heartfelt hospitality made my night feel incredibly special. I left feeling so grateful and already looking forward to coming back!!

I traveled from North Carolina to Austin just to eat at Birdie’s during their final week before moving to a prix fixe menu—and it was 100% worth it. I’ve been following their journey for over a year, and everything lived up to the hype.
I love their counter-service model—it makes the experience feel relaxed and seamless, with no waiting for a check at the end. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what they do. My wife and I pretty much ordered the whole menu, and every dish was outstanding. Their approach to simple, thoughtful food is something truly special. Can’t wait to come back and see where they take things next

I’ve never left a crumb of food on a plate here. The pastas are to die for – I always think I need to order a second round, but I know I have to save room for the rest of the meal and dessert. The team creating the magic that is Birdie’s – and I mean every single person, not just the owners – are superb, friendly and adamant about your experience being one to remember. The wine selection is incredible and just as memorable as the food it is enjoyed with. I never, ever skip dessert, because why would you? My husband and I love sitting at the bar where we can watch the symphony of the kitchen and anticipate the next dish coming our way. We can’t wait to come back soon for their new prix fixe menu!
