This is a great place to stop for a hardy meal/ snack. Good seating space, shade, and space to stretch your legs, it is cash only but theres an ATM on site. Super close to downtown Redwing MN if you were headed that way.

A time travel back into my childhood days. These were the type of restaurants and style that were cutting edge back in the day. There’s no roller what waitresses but the atmosphere is close. Picnic tables and shade trees and then these picnic tables they have next to the building for dining. This is old school Classic American eats. I gave it only a 3 star because unfortunately my chicken and fries were not fresh out the fryer. The chicken was good they have a tasty recipe. A little more crunchy than KFC original but not like extra crispy chicken like I really love. I got the 2 piece dinner which comes with beans, coleslaw, toast and choice of mashed potatoes or fries. Beans weren’t anything special, coleslaw was OK, toast was toast. But what shined like a diamond was the clam strips! They were salty sweet, tender and succulent! I’d go back several times a week just for those! Looking forward to trying their burgers and fried mushrooms and shakes as well. If your in the area and looking for an old school drive through experience is give this place a try. They only except cash but have an ATM on site. And are only open during the spring, summer and early fall months. Update I went back on the 12 of September the next day and they were closed for the season so I made it just in time for the year.

Excellent chicken! Stopped in for a bite after smelling the chicken almost a mile away. The prices were very reasonable, and we only had to wait a few minutes to get our food. The chicken had very good flavor, as did the beans and coleslaw. They also have the crinkle cut fries I like. I will definitely be stopping again when I am in the area.Don’t forget to save room for ice cream!

Biker friendly too!

Very busy during lunchtime for first time visit. Chicken was moist & tasty, but suffered not being temperature hot. Fries lacked salt, also not hot. Beans were hot & delicious, and coleslaw very good. Enjoyed cheese curds as well. Perhaps off day, would try them again given how popular they are.

I have been going here since I was young enough to remember. My grandparents were locals and would always pick some up when it was our weekend to visit. Best broasted chicken I have ever had. And their fried clams are such a delicious treat! Their little drive in on top of the hill is a perfect place to park your car during the spring and summer months.

I am so unbelievably disappointed in what this place has become. I have so many wonderful memories hager heights from maybe a decade ago when I was in high school and before that when I would come with my family; the best chicken in the area, best popcorn shrimp, etc. But I came through yesterday with some friends after a weekend trip to show them how good it was and everything we received was disappointing. We received fried mushrooms instead of the fried shrimp we ordered (which we understand order mistakes happen but we were on the road again by the time we noticed), the milkshakes we got were so thinned out with milk they didn’t have the consistency of milkshakes anymore, and even the chicken tasted like it had little to no seasoning and the breading tasted burnt despite it not looking burnt.
The staff is friendly, the restaurant itself is an outdoor and drive-thru only venue and is only open half the year but is always busy during those summer months. I’m so disappointed by how much the food has changed.

Excellent food, especially broasted chicken and ice cream. Outdoor drive-in eating only. Fast walk-up and drive thru service. Back to the 50’s type food service. Picnic tables available.

Classic drive in, in the middle of nowhere. Intersection of two state highways outside of town.

It does a great job hitting the nostalgia factor. Drive in, sit at a picnic table and eat lunch.

Had the fried chicken with a side of coleslaw. The best part about the chicken was the extra crispy exterior, never really had anything nearly as crispy. The breading was meh at best as far as flavor, pretty boring actually. The pieces were small.

The slaw was fresh but tasted like a generic store bought dressing. Lacked flavor, almost like it didn’t know where it was going.

Great place for a trip back in time, but the food left a bit to be desired. Visit about once a year and always seem to have fond memories but the nostalgia hastricked me into remembering the food is tasty.

My 16 year old grandson told me about this place, he said the chicken was the best he’s ever had! I live in Woodbury and thought I’d go and see for myself………. I came on a busy Saturday afternoon. I ordered an 8 peice chicken and some onion rings. I got my food fast, the service was amazing, everyone was nice. My food was hot and ready to go. I had some chicken in my car before I left and at the rings… 10/10 it was some of the best chicken I’ve ever had and the onion rings were crispy with lots of onion flavor.. 10/10 recommend, will come again and recommend you do too!

Wonderful place to grab a bite on a road trip!! The chicken is fantastic!! The slaw and beans are good too!! Wouldn’t recommend the potatoes. There’s typically plenty of seating outside. If I recall you have to pay in CASH ONLY. Plan ahead.
