Cafe Mochiko (likely the spot you meant by “Cafe mochico conncati,” located in Cincinnati’s East Walnut Hills area) is a delightful Asian American gem that blends bakery magic with cozy café vibes. Stepping in, the space feels warm and inviting—think stylish gold globe lighting, eclectic shelves lined with Japanese-inspired decor like framed art, plants, lucky cats, and family photos, all set against a dark wood bar and comfy stools that give it a homey yet polished mom-and-pop charm.

The pastries steal the show, and your photos capture exactly why this place has a devoted following. That ube halaya croissant—flaky, golden layers dusted with vibrant purple ube powder and topped with creamy ube scoops—is a showstopper, marrying buttery French technique with Filipino flavors for an indulgent, Instagram-worthy treat. The matcha-frosted green cake with fresh raspberry jam and whipped cream adds a bright, tangy contrast, while the mini tart with glossy caramel-like filling rounds out a colorful, craveable spread. Paired with iced coffees (that dark brew and creamy latte looked spot-on), it’s perfect for a sweet morning or afternoon pick-me-up.

The vibe is relaxed and creative, with thoughtful fusion elements that make every bite feel special— no wonder Chef Elaine Bentz has earned James Beard recognition. Portions are generous, flavors bold yet balanced, and the overall experience leaves you smiling. Highly recommend for anyone craving unique, high-quality pastries in Cincinnati. Easily one of the city’s standout spots—worth the visit!

Went this evening after seeing the them on an episode of DDD. Arrived at 4:40pm and was 2nd in line, by 4:50 the end of the line as at the Growler House door . Today if you got there after 4:55…you were not getting seated. The menu was short enough to make a quick decision but also so short that it made you feel like you lacked options ‍♂️. I was disappointed to see that they had a Smashburger and fries on the menu. Was not expecting that at all . The hot tea was not what I expected. Not the green tea I have come to love from a place that calls itself a Japanese restaurant per Google. If you go there looking for the Cincinnati chili ramen, it is not an everyday dish. I was told it is a random item.

We had the best time trying dinner at Cafe Mochiko. Service was fast, fun, and friendly. And the food was flavorful and unique. Can’t wait to go back for their pastries!

Will have to come back another time when earlier in the day since it seems they run out of some of their quicker-selling items fast, but this spot is cute with very kind employees. The pastries we got to try were excellent! I especially loved the sweet corn pastry and tea cookie. If you come later there are not as many options, but I plan to come back and try the ramen for sure. Definitely check this little spot out. Great place to get some studying done too. Nice, clean, and calm space.

I got the Cinci style Ramen. It was good but overwhelming flavor. I plan to go back but get a more traditional dish. And I really wanna try their pastries, I hear it’s delicious.
Otherwise it was a cool place and staff were friendly and attentive.

Where do I start! You can’t go wrong with anything you order here. My husband and I stop in almost weekly whether it be for pastries or dinner. The rotating ramens keep you coming back! If you wake up early on the weekend run and get a box of pastries before sellout. The hardest part is not ordering one of everything everytime you go. My husband who loves ramen orders the burger every-time we come in. He claims it’s the best in town! I always get the ramen, so we share plates. Staff is always a pleasure, the ambiance is exactly what you want out of a ramen shop, you will spend the rest of your life comparing other ramens to this ramen. I wish they offered carry out dinner as I am a take-away girly, but if we’re doing date night and I’m leaving the house for dinner this is where we’re going! Oh.. don’t forget the Shokupan!!

My first coming to this place. I ordered the junk ramen. The broth was so delicious. It was perfect for a cold fall evening. It was warm and had a wonderful umami flavor. The pork was so tender I could sit here all day talk about this delicious ramen. The service was awesome and the staff is very attentive. I see why people rave about this place. The food, staff and atmosphere was great. I will come back for the pastries.

As a fan of authentic Japanese cuisine, I was genuinely surprised by the creativity at this place! Every dish had a familiar foundation with a subtle, delightful twist that made it stand out. Everything I tried was spot-on. I’ve heard great things about their bakery too, but since we went in the evening, most of the baked goods were already sold out—definitely going back earlier next time!
