Omg. The flavor! A friend and I stopped by for happy hour and we were sooo impressed. Every thing we tasted was delicious and seasoned soo well. Our favorites were the catfish bites, the gumbo cup, and the wingettes which come with seasoned fries.

The manager was the sweetest! He was so welcoming and attentive. Our food and drinks were out quickly and we have absolutely zero complaints. We will definitely be back and encourage you all to visit.

We moved from Houston a couple of a years go and really missed Cajun food and boy did this place hit the spot! Amazing flavors! Mark the manager was so kind and hospitable and made sure we had an amazing time. His recommendations were perfect and even shared with us that two items we got on the menu were created by the staff themselves by mixing up things in the kitchen they liked – as I feel like all the best things are created!
We got:
-Jumbalaya Spring Rolls (revolutionary, life changing)
-Taste of New Orleans Trio (Red Beans and Rice, Gumbo and Crawfish Etouffe)
-Shrimp and Grits (wow)
-Peach Cobbler Spring Rolls

We also had the Sazzy cocktail and it was very sweet but delicious! Will be back again.

A Taste of New Orleans: Sweet Tea & Southern Redemption

Ya’ll, let me tell you something. I have been **starving** in this town for four whole years. Four years! I’ve been out here in **Alhambra** cooking my own **soul food** because nothing in this California desert could touch what my grandmama made. I was starting to think I was going to have to move back South just for a proper **catfish** filet.

Then, the angels sang and led me to **Mardi Gras Tuesday “A Taste of New Orleans”** in Sherman Oaks. And baby, that drive? Worth every single minute and every single drop of gas.

This ain’t just food; it’s a **homecoming**.

* **The Catfish:** Crispy. Seasoned. Flaky on the inside. It didn’t just meet my standards; it **superseded them**. It looked me dead in the eye and said, “Girl, I missed you.”
* **The Red Beans and Rice:** Oh, honey. Creamy, smoky, rich. It tasted like a Friday night when you know you ain’t gotta set an alarm.
* **The Gumbo:** That dark **roux** was singing to me. It had the authentic flavor—deep, complex, and spicy enough to make you feel something. It was giving full-blown, tear-in-my-eye nostalgia.

The portions are generous, the vibe is right, and the sweet tea is perfectly sweet. I found out they have a **live band** on the **weekend** and I about fell out of my chair.

I’m not just going to *go* back; I’m going to **reserve my time to be had.** I’m dressing up, putting on my finest, and rolling up there to catch a groove and eat like the Queen I am. LA, you finally delivered. You can keep your green juice; I’m sticking with the **gumbo**.

Let’s not forget to mention the bar! Chef’s kiss!

I absolutely love coming to Mardi Gras Tuesday. It’s a little drive from LA, but we’ll worth it. The food is well seasoned and the char grilled oysters never disappoint. Also, the staff are friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend giving it a try.

Good place to experience. The service was a tad slow (I was on a lunch break meeting and had to get back to work), so I will know next time that I need to give 1.5 hours to eat lunch here. The shrimp po’ boy was good. The crab cakes were excellent, and the peach cobbler is worth going back for!. The ambiance is really nice. This would be good to meet up with friends or even a date.

Went with my partner. He ordered the Taste of New Orleans that is Red Beans and Rice, Gumbo, Jambalaya. I am not a big foodie so I just ordered chicken tenders and fries. My plate was very well seasoned. I tried my partners plate and all options are very good. Delicious. I will definitely get the taste of New Orleans for myself next time. The one negative I have is the service. Our server was no where to be found. We were waiting for about 10-15mins to order dessert but we were tired of waiting so we asked for the check to leave. Not sure what happened there. Overall good food, good vibes!

I had been dying to try this place, but ended up extremely disappointed. I want to be fair by prefacing that I’ve never had Cajun food, so I have nothing to compare it to.

I started with the hush puppies. They weren’t bad, but certainly not worth the calories. So I don’t understand the hype. Then I had the favorites sampler with jambalaya, gumbo & e’touffee. Everything was so salty and savory, that I just couldn’t eat it.

I tasted 2 different cocktails (swamp tea & tropical dream). One was purplish-black & the other reddish-pink, with totally different ingredients, yet they tasted identical! They both just tasted like crapy spiked fruit punch.

Even the beignets were disappointing! The regular ones were too sugary & the cheesecake ones were extremely greasy. The atmosphere was nice though, it was a quiet Thursday night. It’s a small place.

I expected it to be much bigger, since they offer live music on the weekends. I really enjoyed our waiter, he was a very sweet guy who was really into the restaurant, which was nice to see.

Todays visit : Despite venitia I believe being by herself she did a really good job.
The oysters are really good. (Might be too much cheese for some people) .The quality of the cat fish bites is ok and evenly cooked. The rolls were not great the rice was hard and the flavor was chaotic. The pasta had a nice taste it but again too much cheese. Over all had the essence of new orleans but missing some of the style when it came to the foood. It felt like imitating new orleans. The bathroom needs to be tidy. There was a guy that was suppose to assist ourbserver but really wasn’t doing much but on his phone while out server ran an entire resturant with drinks food delivering food orders taking orders ect. If you’re curious I think its worth a try but Ill be back for the oysters only. Always support Black owned

From the moment you walk in the door, its a warm, lively, and welcoming place. The servers and everyone in the restaurant is so attentive. The hush puppies are so flavorful. I had the etoufee with chicken which they kindly accommodated and my husband had the crayfish etoufee. Both were incredible! The beignets were the perfect ending to such a great experience. It is a place that makes feel happy and like you’ve come home. You must try it!
