The best thing about this place by far was their tortillas. Everything else, we found to be average except maybe their select drinks. We did not like the fact that they put the protein on the bottom of the salad where you would have to scrape away to get it. Also a lot of the staff seemed to have troubles understanding what people were ordering, messing it up on serval customers around us.

Months ago I would have recommended this location to a lot of people but not anymore. Recently, things have gone downhill. The service is slow, pork has lost its quality, and now today, I waited an extra hour for my two-person order of food. Orders submitted 30 minutes after mine were completed and placed out.
The staff could not care less. Any attempt to ask them the status of my meal was met with annoyed sighs.
This recent experience, I asked why multiple online orders, submitted only 15 prior were finished but no sign of mine. The staff member rolled his eyes, cut me off asking for my name, printed my order, and walked it over to the line to be prepared. No apology or explanation. I arrived after my estimated time and still wait an extra hour only to find out they “didn’t see” my order.
I’ve been eating at Cafe Rio for years at their different locations and this one is honestly the worst.
Got home to find bugs in my lettuce, no guacamole that we ordered, and bad tasting pork again.
Based on other reviews, the management and owners obviously don’t care as staff issues continue.

Cafe Rio…Yum! I love all of the fresh ingredients this chain has to offer. From salmon all the way down to pork, everything looks, smells and tastes delicious. The portion sizes are huge, shareable. You’re looking about spending $12 per adult entree if you get a drink. The restaraunt was very clean, and quite popular. There is booths, high table, and low tables. They have self serve fountain drinks and also a line of their own beverages (horchata, limeaide, and hibiscus tea.) If you download the app and order you can earn points each time you dine in. I’ve found that you have to keep an eye on the rice, because the first time I went in, the rice was not fully cooked. Overall, a very yummy and filling meal.

I always enjoy coming to this restaurant. It’s huge and is always clean. There are multiple ways to get your food (bowl, burrito, etc.) and I’m always fond of picking and choosing what I want. There are several choices of protein, cooked in different ways and spices. There are plenty of fresh toppings and sauces of variable heat/spice. The chips and salsa are fresh and tasty. Prices are affordable and portion sizes are sizeable. I strongly recommend and will revisit.

I just want to add that the manager at the Severna Park location, Felipe is the BEST!!!! He will literally go above and beyond, and out of his way to make sure his customers are happy and taken care of. Anytime I have ever had an issue, he ALWAYS corrects it, and always has a smile on his face. If you want top notch service, go see Felipe in Severna Park!!!
Let me start off first by saying I absolutely LOVE Cafe Rio. It has been an obsession of mine for about a year now. I literally go EVERY single week. My favorites are the nachos, and the queso. Their queso is some of the BEST I’ve ever had. The staff is always very nice and friendly, especially the Manager Felipe. 9/10 the queso is thick and flavorful, but the last few times I’ve gotten it, it’s been VERY thin, watery, and bland. Queso should not run off of a chip like a watery liquid. I wish they would just follow one set recipe/method of preparing their queso. Seems everyone there makes it different. When it’s prepared properly, it’s soooo thick and creamy and ridiculously delicious. So please Rio, PLEASE stop making the queso thin and watery. Your queso is too good for that nonsense. I still love ya tho

Food is amazing and portions are generous. They have an awesome military discount on Monday’s. I love that they are farm to table and can accommodate with vegan, gluten and dairy free options. Staff is very friendly too!

My new go to for fast Mexican food. The food is fresh and everything tasted great. The staff members are extremely friendly and very welcoming. Chipotle can learn from Café Rio on how to do things right.
