We greet the sunrise by slicing and juicing fresh fruits and vegetables, whipping French toast batter from scratch and brewing pots of our single-origin Project Sunrise coffee. Freshness is never comprised, which is why we welcome each season into our menu with ingredients and flavors inspired by the position of the sun. In our area there are countless diners, cafes & breakfast, brunch, lunch options. I think I have actually been to almost all of them too! Of all the restaurants in our area, in my opinion, First Watch is the absolute BEST.
First of all, I LOVE their coffee! I LOVE that they leave a pot of coffee on your table! I also LOVE the servers here. Our favorites are Shannon & Eamon but everyone here is terrific! Everyone is nice, everyone is personable ~ it’s almost like the staff at Trader Joe’s are serving you if you can imagine that level of service & attention.
The menu is amazing & the offerings are varied. They’re always happy to allow substitutions or changes in the menu items as well. They’re totally attentive to dietary restrictions & mindful of what’s best for their customers. The vibe & and overall atmosphere is trendy & inviting.
You’ll pass many restaurants in our area that also serve breakfast, brunch & lunch but just realize that NONE are anywhere near as great as First Watch! (Even the ones that get recommended over & over & believe me, do not live up to the hype.)

First Watch at Montvale NJ. It’s located inside a plaza with other restaurants and shopping/grocery center. Modern and chic design. Love the wooden table, giving a barn vibe.
We had a reservation so did not wait long. It is a popular spot for brunch for sure. The staff are friendly and helpful. But it was so many people, took us some time to get the order.
Nevertheless it is good quality food. The tea comes with whole set. You drink as much as you want. Egg Benedict has good runny yolks. Waffle is ok for me.
Overall a solid spot for brunch. Parking is a little crazy during rush hours.

Everything was 10/10 from start to finish! We ordered the Million Dollar Bacon, Strawberry Tres Leches French Toast, Chimichurri Steak & Eggs Hash, and the B.E.C. with Million Dollar Potatoes, plus a Honey Caramel Crunch iced coffee and every single item delivered.
The Million Dollar Bacon was perfectly sweet and savory (a must-order), and the Strawberry Tres Leches French Toast was soft, indulgent, and full of flavor. The Chimichurri Steak & Eggs Hash was hearty and well-seasoned, and the B.E.C. with the Million Dollar Potatoes was the perfect comfort combo. The Honey Caramel Crunch iced coffee was the cherry on top.
Service was just as impressive — friendly, attentive, and quick without feeling rushed.

One of my favorite places for breakfast. The seasonal menus are a great way to try different dishes not normally part of the menu. The lemon blueberry cornbread is fantastic and the steak and chimmichuri dish was delicious. The lemon ricotta pancakes are another favorite. The service and responsiveness is fantastic along with high quality food. You will not be disappointed in your meal and with the service.

Great service by Shannon! We don’t live in the area and it’s a great place to go to feel the warmth of Montvale. The food was delicious and great portions. I like being able to pay on my phone and go.

This was my first time dining at this FW restaurant. We came here on Saturday noon for lunch. Before heading to the restaurant, I joined the queue from their website, so upon arrival we got a table right away, despite being super busy and lots of people waiting. The parking lot in front was full, so we had to park couple of blocks away. The restaurant had a bright modern dining space, lots of windows, sunlight and industrial interior. They had a bar like table for anyone to sit and dine on first come first serve basis.
The menu had all the familiar dishes similar to other locations. They had a seasonal menu as well. I ordered the new Pineapple Express that was delicious drink. For entree I got the Chimichurri steak with egg hash. Took about 10 minutes for the dishes to come out. I was surprised to see it was a mixed ingredients plate instead of steak being in slices. Regardless, the dish looked so pretty and colorful with all the sweet peppers, cheese, spinach, roasted onion and potato hash. The cubes of steaks sort of blended with the potato hash. But overall I liked the dish and pretty finished all of it. The waffle my daughter got was also good.
Our server and the staff members were very friendly. For checkouts, they had QR code in the receipt, so I was able to pay right away from my phone and leave. A convenient process that every other restaurant should try to incorporate. Overall a really nice brunch spot with good quality food and drinks.

I stopped in on a visit to the area and I will definitely be back! The service was excellent, the food was delicious (try the Belgian waffle) and the environment felt very “homey” and welcoming. My server, Eamon, was awesome and really friendly. I highly recommend stopping by if you’re looking for a good breakfast in the Hudson Valley.
