A truly atmospheric little coffee shop with exceptional coffee and delicious pastries. You can feel the care and intention in every detail. What deserves special respect is the owner’s commitment: while many cafés are closed or shut early on weekends, this place stays open and welcoming. That choice alone speaks volumes about the level of service and dedication here. It’s the kind of spot you’re genuinely grateful to find.

Very pleasant. Good coffee and a great gift shop. The day we were there not that many pastries available. Very clean restroom facilities. There is indoor and outdoor seating.

We come to the coast every year. Typically, we stay in Cannon Beach or Seaside but this time stayed with friends in Gearhart and happened upon this By The Way by accident on our first day. The coffee was fantastic, Dave was friendly and funny, and the store was quaint and clean. The berry scone was delicious! The next day we decided to visit a coffee shop in CB and waited in line for 30+ minutes and much to our disappointment our coffees were not good. We ended up tossing them and headed back to Gearhart to have Dave make us one of his coffees. They were just as yummy as the day before. We also went the following day. We highly recommend!

Great little place to sit outside and relax with a coffee. They serve Sleepy Monk coffee, which is excellent. They have some cool items and art pieces as well. Very “coastlike” items that fit the location, for sure. The gentleman (owner?) was very nice and accommodating.
There are seats outside the storefront and even a water dish for dogs as well as a leash hookup if you’d like to leave the dog outside while you shop.
There’s an ice cream place across the street that may serve food as well, but I wish this place would serve sandwiches or some items for lunch. That’s all it’s missing in my opinion.
Give it a visit when you’re in Gearhart. It’s a very relaxing area compared to the tourist bussle of Seaside.

Cute coffee stop on our drive up the coast. We were a little disappointed they only had donuts, however, they were a tasty addition to our morning joe. The server could have been a little more upbeat and welcoming,however, we enjoyed our quick stop at this cute shop.

Really good almond mocha. I got the extra flavor and cashew milk and the total was $6. Good drink. The shop had some good souvenir stuff and kids stuff if you’re in the market.
