Wasn’t prepared for such a wonderful experience at an Indian restaurant, right in the middle of state Michigan.
This place absolutely deserves 4.9 that it currently has on Google Maps.

Visited this place twice in week during my recent travel UP. Id recommend their Pani Puri, Chicken Lollipop and Gongura Curry. Chicken Lollipop were unique, with a bit of south Indian flavor to it.

Rasmalai, Mango Kulfi and Carrot Halwa from the dessert menu were also well made. Not too sweet, just a perfect blend to cater one’s sweet tooth.

The staff is very polite, professional and well dressed. The ambiance is definitely upscale and well maintained.

The restaurant seemed to be well reversed by the local community of Midland.

I went to this restaurant both for the fact that there aren’t many proper Indian restaurants in the Mid-Michigan area and also because a friend was playing music. We went with a larger group and we were seated on the outdoor patio which is where the live music was as well.

We started off with some appetizers, including:

– cauliflower bites
– paneer tikka
– chicken bites
– garlic Naan & cheese Naan (new to me but highly recommended)

For entree, I wrestled between the chilean sea bass the lamb tikka masala. I decided to stay traditional and went with lamb. It was excellent! Another in our group also had the goat and I tried that and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty and tender it was.

The presentation was top notch and they even decorated many of the entrees with interlaced hearts using sauce (see the pictures for examples).

For dessert, we had:

– vanilla dome & jamun
– mango kulfi mousse

I want to give a special shout out to Selvan, who I believe is one of the owners. He was very kind to our whole group. Also, our server was very attentive and professional – excellent care.

Special shout to the live music by Squerl & Lucho – they play rock songs in a yacht rock / jazz style that makes for wonderful accompaniment for dining. We very much enjoyed the music.

I am looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu. My friend Earl was correct in that this restaurant is the best Indian food I’ve had in Michigan north of Detroit.

Where do I start!??
First the entire atmosphere was amazing. It was warm and inviting but also moody and private. It smelled delicious.
Mitch the bartender was amazing! I had dealers choice on drinks, and he asked questions to determine the perfect drink! 10/0 on the drink, it was beautifully crafted and presented and the flavor was amazing.
The appetizers were amazing! The cauliflower was cooked to perfection, the chicken was tender, and the little ball shots were amazing! The flavors were 10/10 but the experience was just out of this world.
We tried so many various main courses too! The butter chicken was seriously the best I have ever had. I tried goat for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised; it was flavorful and tender! We had salmon but I missed a picture, and as a salmon snob, she was GREAT. I have never had fish on the bone, but I did tonight and it did not disappoint. The fish was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection.
Our desserts to finish the night were an amazing palette cleanser! The mango dessert was my favorite, sweet but not too sweet.
We met the chef and the owner and you can tell they take great pride in serving an amazing meal AND experience. The staff was amazing and attentive and explained any questions we had while trying everything.
If you’re unsure, you need to try them! You will not be disappointed!

My wife is new to Indian cuisine and she has now enjoyed 2 great meals here at VEEDU! I am so happy we are now experiencing some new foods together.

Service both time was excellent, polite, warm and welcoming. I appreciate the willingness of staff to elaborate on meals to understand and create the best combinations and ultimately create a fun experience.

Thank you to both Selvan this evening and Sri the last time we were here. You are appreciated.

Cheers!

Based on its stellar 4.9-star rating, I had high expectations for this Indian restaurant, but sadly, the experience fell short. I was excited to explore authentic flavors, but the food lacked the bold, vibrant taste I anticipated. Dishes felt bland and underseasoned, and the meat (particularly in curries) tasted noticeably stale, which was a letdown given the premium pricing.

The ambiance was undeniably pleasant—cozy decor, friendly staff, and a welcoming atmosphere—but the culinary experience didn’t match the setting. While the restaurant bills itself as a reflection of Indian cuisine, the dishes felt watered down and lacked the depth and authenticity I’d hoped for. For the price, I expected fresher ingredients and more memorable flavors.

Veedu is our favorite Indian restaurant in the tri-city area. Generous portions, always delicious, and we had incredible service. Loren Kranz was playing music the night we were there. Everything was perfect. The garlic naan and the cream cheese naan are great. Byriani, vindaloo, and the street rice are favorites. Oh, Chicken 65 is a great appetizer!
