We ordered two desert oak plates, each comes with 2 meats and 2 sides. We tried the brisket pulled pork, rib, along with the rice, beans, corn, and slaw. The brisket was moist and flavorless. Pork and rib also lacked flavor. Had to rely on the sauce, which was very average. I read a negative review about the beans, they weren’t wrong. I asked the cashier before I ordered if the were sweet or spicy. She said she didn’t know, she hasn’t tried them. They were not sweet or spicy, just heated pinto beans. The corn was average, not to creamy but taste was fine. The slaw, was run of the mill pineapple slaw. The highlight was the rice casserole. Not too cheesy, not to spicy for those who don’t like it kicking, great taste. I’d plan on trying the Cow Town location since Rich Beem location wasn’t great, but I was told they bring in the meats from Cow Town. Hopefully this is a fluke and they need some more time to manage the expansion, but even Rudy’s was better than this, and we all know how Rudy’s rates for BBQ.

Good BBQ all the meats were delicious, the side were ok, the beans need to change does not go at all with the meat. Fries are very good. It’s a place that have a lot of good but still needs work, like the menu very small to see.

The meats are juicy and tender but the sides were absolutely delicious.
I usually get fries as a side but a gentleman offered a sample of the creamed corn and green Chile and cheese rice. They were both delicious.
Thank you for offering those samples.
Delicious definitely coming back for more.

I finally got to go to the new Rich Beam store. And I was very surprised the store was empty at 1130am on a Saturday. Seating and service was awesome, food was great. I got the Trio, brisket was so moist and tender, pulled pork was great, and I forgot the sausage had a spicy kick but good too.
I will definitely go back more and recommend it to everyone.

Hello, today is 7.01.22. We went to Desert Oak after an early movie(nephew’s treat). It was approximately
11:45 a.m..
Walked in, greeted by the staff. Only one other customer at the time. Not surprised, has the appearance of a brand new restaurant.
We placed our order immediately; both of us had the chopped brisket sandwich. There are several side options, but we both got potato chips.
Plenty of room to sit. Sandwich came with red onion and a couple of pickle’s. Meat was tasty, not overly smoked; I thought it could have used a pinch of salt. But the chip’s compensated for the salt issue.
They also have squeeze bottles with sauce, if still
“Needing” more sauce.
First time visiting Desert Oak, will return and try some other dishes. Perhaps, sit outside and enjoy the meal and the weather.
Enjoy!
P.S. The Mgr./Shift Leader, came to our table to say hello; and to see how our meal was.

Excellent food and service. The barbeque alone is worth a visit, and I highly recommend the baked potato. This location still feels a little unfinished, but I was too focused on the food for it to affect my experience past the first impression. I think they need to make their menu a little more professional, not covering unavailable or modified items with painters tape, but at the same time some of those peculiarities gave the place a hole in the wall feel.

Food was ok I’ll give it 6.8 out of 10. I bought a double meat (brisket and pull pork) and 1 sausage with 2 sides coleslaw and potato salad for $24 including tax. Got only 2 slices of bread and 2 tiny barbecue sauces.
flavor was ok not great as I was expected for the reviews and price. Including the pull pork, brisket and sausage if it was 10 oz I think it was too much
brisket wasn’t that moist and for the color of ring around I don’t think the meat was smoke for more than 3hrs.
Definitely not coming back.

Desert Oak BBQ came highly recommended (pre-pandemic). I tried back then and it was worth the trip. You were given lots of food and it was very tasty. Not so much this time. The cole slaw had no taste and the fries were mushy. The portions were very small. In addition, I paid $11 for 2 ribs. I read the menu wrong. I thought it was $11 for a half rack of ribs…my fault. Nonetheless paying that much for two ribs was a bit much. Needless to say, I was very disappointed and I will not go back.

Me and my wife went there for our anniversary with our 2 kids, and me and my 2 year old son walked away with food poisoning. All the food was clearly old and tasteless. The brisket was so overcooked that it was hard to even pick up due to it crumbling apart, tasteless. The sausage is what gave us food poisoning, it was old and dry. The pulled pork looked like it came in a tuna can and the cheesy rice was dry and salty. Had to cover everything in BBQ sauce to even eat and even then, the sauce wasn’t very good. I am very disappointed with our visited as I’ve heard so many great things about them before but this was a terrible first experience.

First I want to start by saying, I have loved Desert Oak for years. I was very excited to learn recently that they were going to do breakfast, as I am very much a breakfast person. . I knew that I wanted try. Stopped in on the first day and I’m very very happy. I had the Spiced Ham and Egg sandwich , as I am huge lover of Spam. But I have to tell you that their Spiced Ham is on a different level, made by them in house. It paired perfectly with Egg, cheese and bun. Next time I’m going to add bacon. My wife had the Chile Colorado burrito. Again made with their brisket and homemade sauce. Soooooo good, as I needed to take a bite to cure my curiosity. The perfect amount of spice and a good size burrito. Oh, and don’t forget the coffee. I had a large Americano that was so robust and delicious, no bitterness at all. We will definitely be back soon as I have found a great new breakfast spot. Thank you Desert Oak. Cheers.
