I am from Arizona which is right next to Mexico so I grew up on Mexican food. I was pleasantly surprised to find a Mexican food place in Seattle. La Palma is off a rather busy road so keep that in mind when looking for the place. You can’t miss its bright, festive sign and there was plenty of parking in the front. Now there is flight of stairs you will have to go up and I forgot to ask the host about handicap access so if that is your situation you may want to call ahead and verify. The decor was very festive and familiar to anyone who has been to a Mexican place. The host was very friendly and seated me right away. He had some corny dad-jokes which were funny. I think he might have been the owner since he obviously loves talking to customers and he talked to a couple who were obviously regulars. You get a bowl of chips and salsa when seated. The menu is extensive and has all of the old Mexican favorites. I had a combo dinner with a beef taco, a chicken enchilada, a beef tamale all with rice and beans. Yeah I had a lot of food left over. But it’s as good. Just not as spicy as I would have liked but I chalked it up to local preferences as I do live in Arizona and they like things REALLY spicy down there. I didn’t have a cocktail but I did notice an extensive alcohol list and the standbys like margaritas are on offer. My total cost was a VERY reasonable $24 with tax and I left a $5 tip. I was almost taken aback at how reasonable the prices were compared to what I experienced in Seattle. I really enjoyed my meal and would heartily recommend La Palma if you find yourself on the west side of Queen Anne.

Several recent visits in…I must add: ask for ROBERTO. He’s the best!
La Palma has been here forever… Long before street tacos were a thing or fresh tortillas, even predating most Aztecas in the area. The dining areas look the same as when I was a kid.
This is old school Mexican American fare and I enjoy it. The lunch specials are great, filling and inexpensive.
I hadn’t been here in years and my Beef Chimichanga was tasty. It was fun for a lunch date with friends, who had yummy margaritas. The waiter was fantastic.
Nice that they have a parking lot in this busy area.

The place is so cool, and the decorations are so nice, the servers are so kind. But the food is not that tasty anymore in comparison to the last year I visited this place, the prices are okay fair enough for what they serve.

The food is so-so (a little heavy and lacking in spice) but the service is always fantastic. With the short wait from the kitchen for our food, we were checked on 3 or 4 times to make sure everything was to our liking and that we had a refill on everything we needed. The location was so neat too! I love the little upstairs area that overlooked 15th Ave NW.

Not much to look at but the staff is friendly and the food tastes good. The atmosphere is usually festive. I’d recommend the fajitas-for-two, tons of onions, peppers and meat at a reasonable price. And nowadays, that’s saying something.

My absolute favorite Mexican restaurant in Seattle! The people are the kindest. Food is delicious, a must go in seattle!

Large portions and overall delicious food. Great service and general ambience reminds me of family Mexican restaurants. Price to portion ratio is very good given that it’s also in the city.
Huevos rancheros was delicious but had a little too much cheese. Some yolks were runny and some weren’t. Steak was huge but too chewy even though we ordered medium. Chicken fajitas served with sides and tortillas was the favourite for the night. I would rank chicken fajitas > huevos rancheros > steak.

Poor Quality Food, Poor Location, Prices way too high for what you get, and Unfriendly Service! Barely Vegetarian friendly and definitely Not Vegan friendly. Be prepared to climb a ton of steps outside to get in and inside to get to the dining areas and to the restrooms. A very old place with food that Chef Ramsay would have thrown out immediately.
**I do NOT understand all the good reviews (reason I thought I’d try it).** I’m going to guess most of the good reviews are based on strong drinks or they’ve never had good Mexican food. My food was definitely not fresh and tasted awful, but I doused it with the hot salsa and got it down because I was hungry and nowhere close by to eat, especially if you’re walking. The server said he doesn’t like Vegans and this is a Mexican restaurant, either order what they have or go somewhere else! Wow! I wasn’t even trying to get a Vegan meal! After that comment, I ordered the 3 awful sides rather than pay the high prices for a meal that wouldn’t be what I wanted. I definitely won’t be back and will go somewhere else where they are happy to accommodate and charge less for much better food!
