Food has steadily declined since opening a few months ago! Ordered two rib sandwiches (3 bones) today and what I got was a couple of dried up bones and a nub. Too tough to eat tasted old. My last visit. I understand now why the place was empty at lunch time.

I’m glad I ignored the negative reviews. I really enjoyed my meal. The staff was very friendly and I got my food pretty quick.
The ribs were great, especially the sauce. It’s vinegar based, so heads up if you only like tomato based sauces, but I love vinegar based and thought it was really great.
Wings were delicious as well. Tomato based sauce lovers should love these. They were cooked well, nice and crispy but still juicy.
Okra was great. What you’d expect from southern fried okra. Potato salad wasn’t my preference. Too smooth for me, but good flavor.
I’ll definitely be back! Glad they came to Birmingham, and I definitely recommend trying yourself. I think Archibald’s is a good addition to the Birmingham BBQ scene!

Went in on lunch break today and there were just a few people sitting around. Not a heavy crowd as you’d expect for lunchtime. I ordered the special for $12. Ribs 2 sides and drink. Ribs looked good but had no seasoning or smoke flavor. The meat itself was gray but cooked and there were no specks of seasoning. Their bbq sauce looked like bbq mop water or pee. The potato salad was tasteless. Mushy and no egg onion or seasonings. Green stuff like relish was in it but that’s all. The baked beans were the only things hitting. The chicken wings with chili sauce were fabulous! Gotta try the wings again.

I reached out to Archibald’s to do catering in Tuscaloosa, and that’s when I found out about and was referred to try the Downtown Birmingham location. Keyuntae (I believe that’s the spelling), was really nice and hosted my coworker and I with great customer service. The restaurant was clean, and the staff was really nice, and checked on us to make sure we were taken care of. We had a bit of everything on the menu: wings, fried okra, ribs, pulled pork sandwich, mac & cheese, potato salad, coleslaw, hot dog, baked beans, and whiting fish. In my opinion, the food was really really good. The ribs were juicy, and had a good flavor to it. The mac & cheese, baked beans, okra and wings was our favorite! The sauce for the bbq was good as well. We will definitely be back for more! Keep up the great work guys!

***Car parked facing their drive thru broken into***
Whiting Fish was delicious as well as the fries. They always look dark and closed so when I went inside and got food I was surprised it was good. Interesting fact…my car was parked by their windows and near their drive through and it was broken into. Funny how neither they or their cameras saw the incident take place.

Ribs seemed to either oven baked then placed on a grill or broiled. Mac and cheese was just cheese sauce and noodles and the potato salad was mushy and had a little too much mustard. I also order the whiting snack it was good. Overall not worth the money. However the price wasn’t outrageous.

Went in just after lunch on a Friday. Ordered smoked (whole) butts chopped/pulled with sauce to go. Manager even asked, you want that chopped? Responded, yes, chopped, thank you. I get my hot pan and hit the road to a fam function. On the reputation of the food from the MLK location, I talked these butts up to being smoked gold in light sauce. Not only were the butts NOT chopped, they were NOT done (for slicing, maybe, pulling, not even close). I cut them in half, and they cooked 3.5hrs at 325 before they released the bone.
My last visit to THIS location has occured. THIS location is trashing Archibald’s reputation. The MLK location serves up smoked love. Night and day difference.

I went with coworkers for lunch. It was our first time visiting. I ordered wings after asking for a recommendation from another customer. The wings were good.
My coworkers ordered pull pork and ribs. They weren’t impressed with either.

I’ve previously lived in both Tuscaloosa and Northport for over five years and visited the original Archibald’s and Archibald’s and Woodrow’s many times while I lived there.
Their new location in Birmingham is just as good as their other locations and it’s surprising to see this many negative reviews.
I recently visited this location last Thursday and had an excellent pound of ribs, 18 wings, and sides with my family.
It brought back some wonderful memories and I plan to eat there again in the future!
