We promised ourselves we’d try new (to us) restaurants in our area now that our daughter has left for college. Tonight we went to Sunnyside Family Restaurant for dinner. They offer Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Plenty of parking. Entry door is in front by the main road. Nicely decorated for the Fall with mums and pumpkins lined up outside. The interior is bright, clean and welcoming. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Our server was very friendly and knew the menu well. They have Pepsi products for drinks (which is a big plus in my opinion.) I ordered the Roast Chicken with chicken gravy, baked potato, salad & mac&cheese sides. My husband ordered medium New York steak with mashed potatoes, chili, and mac&cheese sides. He thought his steak & mashed potatoes were delicious. The chili was good but a bit salty. We both agreed the mac&cheese was rather bland and “needed something.” I gave him mine and he added ketchup to it. My chicken was scrumptious!! I let my hubby try the wing and he agrees! If I order it again I’ll ask for the gravy on the side so I can enjoy the nice crispy roasted skin. Plenty of meat on the chicken. Just be ready to get your hands in there to get it all! The baked potato was cooked perfectly and I have to say the sour cream was the best I’ve ever had! So much so that I had to ask what brand it was! The head server brought out the tub so I could get a picture of it. Delicious!! Believe it or not, my husband still had room for dessert, so he ordered the Turtle Cheesecake. He ate the whole thing. He said it was good, but wasn’t a fan of the molasses on top that the nuts were in. We definitely recommend Sunnyside! Can’t wait to return!

We stopped in for breakfast on Sunday. The staff was very friendly and service was fast and good. Our server checked on us regularly and made sure we were taken care of. The food was good! I had eggs Benedict which was very good! This is our usual breakfast stop in Carlisle and as usual we weren’t disappointed. Their salads and lunch / dinner menu items are also good and the atmosphere is good! I recommend Sunnyside when you are in Carlisle.

An all around great dining experience.

A family oriented diner with a wide variety of options, and all day breakfast. There were six of us dining here today and we told the waitress we were pressed for time and our food was prompt. And delicious.

Four of my dining companions got a form of a wrap. I know one was a buffalo chicken wrap, and another was a chicken, bacon, ranch or something like that. They all enjoyed their meals which came with a bag of Utz chips and a pickle spears. My boyfriend opted for the Sunnyside breakfast with french toast and crispy bacon . There is no gluten free menu, sorry celiacs, but I was able to order a Sunnyside panini sandwich without the bread. I chose sweet potato fries instead of the chips in an effort to eat healthier. My fries were cooked to perfection. Yum!

The waitress was appropriately attentive, though busy, friendly, and professional (I didn’t catch her name ‍♀️). The restaurant was cute and clean, and the bathroom well stocked. We found it awesome that not only did they offer feminine products you may have forgotten, but also diapers. A true family oriented experience.

We’re leaving in the morning, but if we’re ever back in town, this would definitely be a repeat for us.

We came on a Sunday evening around 6. We could hear the guy at the register arguing with an employee over an order. We were seated fairly quickly. Our server had a great personality, but got the order wrong, and the food did not taste fresh. The guy at the register didn’t make eye contact with us.

A nice diner with the typically over sized menu. Usually that means bad quality but we were surprised that all dishes ordered were average to above average. Service was friendly, super attentive, and fast.
Would recommend to anyone passing by.

Another Thousand miles.
Very clean and bright inside.
My eggs were a perfect medium.
My country fried steak was crisp and tasty.
The sausage gravy was yummy.
The toast was a perfect tan. And the fried potatoes were banging. My waitress was polite and attentive. Service was very fast. The bill was under 20$.
Cant wait to eat here again.

My husband and I were in town for the corvette show. This restaurant is a hidden gem. We were desperate for real food. It is a local dinner style, cute and very friendly restaurant. I had a club and the French onion soup. The soup was the best I’ve ever had. Honestly it was better than the 5 star restaurant I’ve ever had. My husband had eggs, home fries and the country fried steak. He said the steak was actually really good. It wasn’t the thin dried out country fried steak that majority of places will serve. He said his meal was really great too. The staff was refreshingly kind and not rushing us. After a long day, this was amazing. A true gem.

I had heard that the Sunnyside was a good restaurant, but July 2025 was the first time I had the opportunity to eat there. It was nearly full to capacity, but my party of 3 was seated within a few minutes. The menu had the usual diner offerings. We were there on a Sunday for a late breakfast. Our food came out in record time and was delicious. Our waitress made sure we always had fresh coffee and that we didn’t need anything. I would definitely return.

Great dining experience . Newly opened , lite and airy , very good food , I had the fried chicken, excellent, and my wife loved the tuna fish sandwich . But the highlight of our visit was the service . Laurel was excellent , friendly , helpful and fast service . Was also visited by the Manager/owner ??? Just checking on our experience , very impressive ! We will certainly be back .

Very impressed with this updated diner style restaurant. Their desserts looked amazing, though we didn’t try any. The food we did try was great, came quickly, and with excellent service and attention all around. We plan to return for sure.
