The portions are really generous and not the most overpriced for fatty tuna in London that I’ve tried. Everything was flavored well and tasted fresh! Would recommend the squid, agedashi tofu and sashimi.

The staff were super nice and accommodating as we were running late for the lunch appointment.

Had the spicy tuna and that was as good as it usually is. I tired a friend’s chief special salmon and that was also good.

My issue was with the fatty tuna and Wagyu.

The fatty tuna was fresh, had a nice texture but I struggled to find any real flavour as it was so subtle.

The Wagyu wasn’t as buttery or flavourful as I expected either and I couldn’t tell you if it was actually Wagyu. The spicy version was better than the regular version which didn’t seem as flavourful as I’d hope.

The desert wasn’t cheap and pretty small but it was nice.

The service was awesome. One look at the servers and they were at your table asking about your needs. Tori Kara bento was nice, fresh, and chicken stayed warm surprisingly long. I didn’t try sushi, but my daughter was satisfied with her rolls.
Really good restaurant, looks like run by dedicated people.

Heard about this sushi place for a while so I had to try it out when came to the area. It was amazing!! Salmon and avocado were very fresh, rice was cooked to perfection! The restaurant is a cozy little place but it doesn’t compromised on taste and quality! Coming back fosho

I used to go order takeout from here regularly but I rarely go to the restaurant. I left the UK, and came back after over 2 years overseas and I can confirm that the food is amazing and much better in person! The staff made me feel welcomed, almost like they are my parents. Thank you Kampai for making this experience so special and nostalgic ❤️

Beautiful, delicious food, bursting with flavour. Can’t fault the experience. My husband and I had a bento box each and a dragon roll to share. I had the chicken teriyaki bento and was amazed at the depth of flavours with each bite, the charred flavours with the sweet and sticky sauce were perfectly balanced with the rice and the dressing in the salad. My husband had the tonkatsu bento box and he was also very happy with his choice. We were both pleasantly full and blown away by the quality and talent to
prepare such dishes. Every aspect of the food was perfect and possibly the best Japanese restaurant we’ve been to which was a most pleasant surprise. It is incredible value for money. The service is great as well, and the atmosphere is very relaxing.

We wanted to come back again to try their katsu curry but unfortunately we couldn’t, as we were no longer in the area (we travelled all the way from Newcastle!). Next time we are in London, we will definitely make sure to visit again. Highly recommend!

Small Japanese restaurant near Kensington Olympia. Visited weekend at opening time, seems to be quite busy with bookings. Great selection of Japanese food both hot and cold. Loved the mini don.

What a great find. On a search for some food, I came across Kampai. I got a takeaway. I returned today for another takeaway. I sat in a restaurant, which is a lovely environment. I decided to order a number of small plates so I could enjoy different flavours. I wasn’t sorry. All tasted delicious. I don’t know how they make aubergine taste this good! I couldn’t even pick my favourite because I loved all of it. Happily will return again and luckily it’s walking distance.

If you plan to sit in, I would recommend a booking as I could see it was popular and it’s only Thursday early evening.
