Best burgers forever. My go to phone in order (and now you can order online). DOUBLE PATTY ROYAL, everything except ketchup. They take tap, cards now too! Okay to eat there standing up, but also mainly it’s a get it to go place.

For nostalgic purposes came here to get food. Still a good burger but sometime your can tell from he fltexture of the patty if it freshly cooked or slightly advanced cooked. But overall Still great flavor. Got the HAL and the Royal double with French fries. Yes it was sunday so I expected a delay in getting the food, Still worth the wait. Overall I will always go back is there better possibly but you just can’t go wrong with W&M.

I have had this place on my radar for a while now, just never made it out to Kaimuki to try it. That ended today and the food did not disappoint =D.

The Order: Hal’s Special (Bbq Burger and Teri Beef with lettuce , tomatoes , onions , and mayo) and crispy fries on the side

The fries were nice and crunchy and soft in the middle.

The burger what an umami meat explosion. The burger is nice and soft, the Teri beef so sweet, add the melted cheese, nice crunch of the lettuce and onions , and juicy Ed’s of the tomato. Left me with one happy tummy.

It was a rainy day so I was lucky to go when no one was there, so the food was ordered and the burger came quick freshly cooked and hot.

They are located just after City Mill (east side) and on the Mauka side of the road). So if coming from the west, you could miss it as the storefront is tucked in with a few stalls.

I will definitely be back again.

Tourist Review: this spot definitely did not disappoint! The HAL Special was delicious with its BBQ steak. The buns have a slight sweat taste to eat (almost like Hawaii buns). The Green River drink is refreshing but a little too artificial tasting to me. Parking is very limited and waves of people come in sometimes so you might not have a spot to park. There are very limited areas to eat there but there are no seats. You have to eat standing. Highly recommend eating here if you are craving a burger.

Classic local burger joint that’s been a staple in kaimuki. Been coming here off and on for years.
Simple burgers although their menu is confusing. You’ll see when you look at the menu. My coworkers got the royal and hal burgers. I wanted to try the hot dog with everything and fries.
I asked for everything on it, but they forgot the Ketchup and relish. Had plenty of onions and mustard though. Hot dog hit the spot, burst with meat juices and savory. Lol Fries were nicely salted and crispy.
My coworkers and I ordered online, indicated 20mins however we had to wait there another 15 mins for the food. Lame.
Also I wish they had a dine-in or sitting area. Minor issue, we decided to drive back to the office and eat.
All-in-all. Good price, good food, good locations off of waialae ave, near chaminade university and across from the new FedEx store.

What happened to this place? Has the recipe changed? Has the quality changed? Has my taste preferences changed? Well, two of three are true for sure.

The recipe is probably the same but $14.50 for a double with bacon, sorry, not worth that neither is their Royal BBQ beef. Very meh and worse, dry. I was always looking forward to coming back here but not anymore. Patties were undercooked and quality in general is down. The Royal burger will give you cavities. Damn thing is soaked in sugar. Would be a two star if not for the fries. Skip the green river, it’s still nasty as you remember

Old school Honolulu local burger joint, Take Out only. Family business since the 50’s. Love it!
Parking is a pain but don’t let that discourage you.
Hal’s Burger with everything is our new favorite. Nostalgic Teri Burgah taste, yum!

Amazing burger! HAL burger is an absolute must get. Really loved the combo of the ground beef with the steak strips on it. Light teriyaki flavor and every bite had a little bit of every flavor.

They’re Mac salad was not my personal cup of tea, the choice of adding green peas to a crab Mac salad is not something I would do. But I can’t knock a star off for just one item that I personally didn’t care for.

Try it yourself, but definitely get a nice juicy burger. You won’t be disappointed.

It is pretty good, I really wanted to give it 4 stars. I really appreciate old places like this, but for the same price you can get a much bigger, fresher and better burger at Betty’s, Koa pancake house, Honolulu burger co or Chubbies(now called Boarded Up) the patties are small in comparison to the other places I mentioned and around the same price. If you’re looking for a good burger, go to Boarded Up, or Honolulu burger co(Tuesdays 4-8 they have $6 cheeseburgers) Koa pancake house has a $10 bacon cheese with grilled onions. All these places serve a 1/3lb patty, whereas w&m is probably less than 1/4 per patty. Not trying to hate or anything, just being honest. My dad and family grew up here, but I did not so I don’t get the nostalgia factor. Purely quality and pricing review.
