10/10! I’ve been raving to my coworkers and friends about this restaurant since finding it. Completely vegetarian menu, many options, tons of flavor. Excited to go back. Highly recommend the Methi Pakoda! Try something new, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. The restaurant was very nice and clean inside.

I went to this place while I was in the area for work. Just wanted a quick bite, Googled, and this came up. Worst decision. The place was almost empty except for one family, which made sense later. Looks like all good reviews are from people who are not used to regular Indian food.

It’s self-service. We ordered one vada pav ($4.99), one hakka noodles ($10.99), and one stuffed cut mirchi ($9.99). The order took forever. They first brought the vada pav and noodles, both in small paper takeaway trays. There was a tiny hair beneath the vadapav. Eww!!! Besides that, paper try for vadapav is okay but For noodles? Seriously? Eleven bucks for that? And the portions were tiny.

The vada pav was literally a burger bun with the vada smashed flat inside it. There’s a Kroger next door Hawaiian king rolls if that’s what they’re going for. The hakka noodles were even worse just soy sauce noodles, no taste, nothing. Don’t know how you mess up something that simple.

After this I went back to Google reviews, and guess what!! another customer had said the portions were small too. The owner’s reply? That it’s “supposed to be a single serving, not a full meal.” First of all, that’s not mentioned anywhere on the menu. Second, $10.99 for a sad paper-tray of bland noodles is not “single serve,” it’s just a rip-off. Any other Indian restaurant around gives better food, better portions, and for basically the same price.

After a while came the mirchi. Stuffed with some stale-tasting masala, borderline spoiled. Straight to the trash.

To top it off, they were rude to another customer while we were sitting there. So clearly they don’t care about service either. I know several self service places have water which we can get ourself but here the bottles were inside the fridge and priced at 30 or 70 cents. Don’t remeber this one.

Overall, the food was bad, portions were worse, service was nonexistent. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Canton has far better options, don’t waste your time or money here.

I visited with my son and his children and had a very pleasant experience. The Vada Pav was excellent—fresh, well-spiced, and truly authentic in taste. The Bombay sandwich was equally enjoyable, nicely grilled with the right balance of chutneys and vegetables.

The kids enjoyed the pasta, which was prepared well and suited their taste. The atmosphere was warm and family-friendly, making it a comfortable place to dine with children.

Good food, generous portions, and a nice traditional touch throughout. We would be happy to visit again.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Absolutely loved my meal here. The chilli paneer was perfectly balanced—crispy on the outside, soft inside, and packed with flavor without being overly heavy. The Hakka noodles were just as good: fresh, well-seasoned, and cooked exactly right, not greasy at all.

What really stands out is the consistency and care in the food. You can tell a lot of thought goes into both taste and quality. The atmosphere is welcoming, service is smooth, and the food comes out hot and fresh.

If you’re looking for Indian-Chinese dishes done right, this place is a must-try. I’ll definitely be back.

Kumkum Restaurant in Westland, Wayne County is an absolute gem! Easily one of the best vada pav I’ve had—perfectly spiced and super fresh. The noodles were delicious, and the pav bhaji was rich, flavorful, and comforting in the best way. You can truly tell the food is made fresh with care. And the chai? Hands down the best chai ever—strong, aromatic, and perfectly balanced. If you’re craving authentic, fresh Indian street food, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

Loved the food. As a vegan gluten free eater I don’t always have a lot of options. Had the Methi Pakoda and loved it. Soft fluffy and delicious. Also the Peri Peri fries are lovely. The onion pakoda filled a little hole in my heart and reminded me of onion rings but way better. The seasoning on them is subtle, complimented the methi pakoda well. So friendly!

Fantastic food and service. We came in for lunch on a Sunday and had a wonderful experience. We have 2 kids and they catered the spice level for them so they could enjoy as well. We tried the Sev Khamni, Paneer wrap, vada pav, aloo parantha and the Oreo milkshake. Everything was made well and delicious. It did take some time for the food to come out but that was because they were making it fresh. The paneer wrap was our favourite. We will definitely be back!

Took my mom here for her birthday. Phenomenal! Absolutely delicious and you can’t beat their low prices! I wish I knew about this place so much sooner but luckily they’ve only been open since March so I don’t feel so bad lol I will definitely be back very soon for some more delicious goodies to try. Thank you so much for opening this amazing spot!

Really friendly service and the food was good, as well as affordable. It did take a little bit longer for the food than I was expecting but not a big deal. Perhaps call ahead to order. As a vegetarian, I’m happy to have this vegetarian restaurant near me in Westland.
