Stopped in for food with our two daughters and their families. We all order burgers, fish sandwiches, chicken strips, kids meals.
All food was dry and overcooked. Between all of us, 6 adults & 5 grandchildren we laid out around $200 for poor food.
However service was Okay and atmosphere was cool as well.
No hurry to come back to this establishment.

Extremely slow service, even though we left and came back there were only about six people there. They were completely confused and kept looking at the order and couldn’t figure out what to put on our burgers and they still came out wrong. Then they handled raw food and touched fresh food and our buns without washing their hands.

They have very good popcorn and it’s free. A wide selection of beers on tap. All the bartenders are very friendly and there are a lot of TV monitor to watch from the bar. They run a very good fantasy football league and party. The pizzas are very good and reasonably priced.

In town for the game and wanted to watch some football. The bartenders barely acknowledged our existence and we had empty cups all night even tho they made sure their own cups stayed full all night on the clock. The sanitation and food is awful and after we ordered the special, we heard them saying that the owner had too many of them for too long so put nasty old food on special to get rid of it. This is like a before episode of bar rescue, I’d go somewhere else

First time at the Wooden Nickel. Dive bar oozing with atmosphere and attitude. Ordered the half pound burger smothered with all the fixins. Flame cooked just right, very tasty. Huge selection of domestic and import beer. Definitely a return food destination!

Very cool spot in Downtown! Kristin took one look at me and knew exactly what type of beer I wanted. I asked what I should eat and she said a burger. I told her to do her thing, and make me something off menu. Her creation was incredible, and spot on!

Went here because of a Post Crescent article saying it was recommended by readers for a bit to eat. Not entirely sure why. The food was just ok, nothing special, standard bar food. Everything was sticky, table, ketchup, mustard bottles.

I was pretty impressed with the set up and my drink wasn’t bad at all, I was on the other hand very disappointed with my burger. My friends burger came out pretty nice but had no flavor to it what so ever. During our order the server didn’t even ask how we wanted our burgers done. I take a couple bites of my burger and when I looked down all I could see was pink almost red. Don’t get me wrong I do like to have my burger with some pink, just not raw. Their onion rings were the only part of my meal that I actually enjoyed. Also their “mozzarella sticks” are just a stick of string cheese wrapped in wonton wrappers, kinda threw me off guard a little bit not gonna lie. Normally I’m the kind of person that would leave a good tip no matter what but the fact that my burger looked like it was cooked for two minutes pissed me off

Ordered take out from here a few times. Every time has been disappointing. Today’s dishes were either soggy or way over cooked. Two meals had smashed pickle spears and floppy chippers, one had everything basically burnt. Too much money wasted to give them money for a fourth try. Pictures are the differences in chippers and then the over done meal.

Definitely a gem of a Sports/Dive bar with a up north cabin feel. Fantastic food grilled on the grill right up front. Really good deal GameDay too. Free popcorn, dart board, touchtunes digital music, ATM, and a couple arcade slot machine. This Lions fan crew of 6 enjoyed it.
