This is a destination place if you like pitmaster bbq. I would have given 5 stars if better parking was available as i had to park a block away. I had the sampler in order to be fair. Note: texas bbq leans heavy on the vinegar side but i did not hold that against them. My favorites of the meal were the brisket, pulled pork, and sausage in that order. The turkey was ok as well as the chicken minutes the rubbery skin (there is a way to fix that). The ribs were the least on that plate as they were heavily spiced. M y favorite side was the dirty rice …. literally the best i have had. The warm potato salad was just OK and the spicy corn was ok but needed the sauce mixed with the corn prior to garnishing. The banana pudding was also very good. Drinks come with this two person meal. Pricing is at market and the business is clean and nostalgic.

We’re from out of town and I travel a lot, so I was really craving some good Texas BBQ. Koop’s came up in my search, and it did not disappoint. The brisket was tender, the turkey is a must, and the sides were awesome. There was even a small line right at 11am, but it moved fast and we got right in. Friendly staff, tasty food, and worth the stop. I’d definitely come back next time I’m in the area. Decked out with Christmas decor and fun Christmas music.

We got there a little before 11am, we were first in line. The place filled up fast! Ordered at the counter and Kevin was quick to bring our drinks. Food was ready in just minutes. Top notch Brisket, pulled pork, house sausage, and ribs! Try the Banana pudding!

Very good! I asked the staff if the BBQ sauce had soy sauce in it, and they don’t. I am gluten free and had no issues with any of the food I had — the brisket, sausage (very sage-forward), the beans (spicier than I anticipated, but not in a bad way), potato salad, and BBQ sauce (very vinegary and delicious). You can park on the street, and there are a few parking spots on the side. My wife and I got two-meat plates and we made them two meals per plate, easy.

Koops is a great BBQ place for lunch or just take out .
We just stopped by quickly to check it out .
We had take away with some of the bbq meats .
It was tender , well cooked , a little too much seasoning for our liking but all in all it was a great visit .

First time trying this BBQ spot here in Galveston and man… that smoke flavor hit different
The brisket was crazy tender, sausage had that perfect snap, and the chicken was just pure backyard-smoked goodness.
We were halfway through before realizing we hadn’t said a word to each other — just sitting there like “dang, this is good.”
And honestly… we couldn’t blame the pup either, he knew what was up

I’ve been to a lot of BBQ restaurants, but Koop’s is definitely the best of best. There’s no end to the flavors, just amazing tender meats. Highly recommended

First off, the guy at the register was on the phone and another guy just looked at me, walked off instead of greeting me and helping me order but whatever. So this guy finally got off the phone and i was going to speak and he said oh no i can’t help you. I was taken back and I was like oh hell no. First time customer or any customer at all, you do not speak to them like that.
I ordered the brisket, green beans and mac and cheese and it came with a side of bread. The brisket was cooked perfectly. The green beans were a lil too much, as far as too many flavors and salt. Put your season in and we can add the salt. The mac and cheese was okay but I would not buy it again. It tasted like it was slathered in Pimento cheese. The sliced bread was actually fresh bread, not the Texas toast in a bag.
The next time, my husband ordered to go. He ordered brisket and turkey breast. The brisket was cooked perfectly. The turkey breast was absolutely disgusting. It was soft and chewy. My husband called to let them know that their turkey breast needed to be trashed and they said ok. No im sorry it was not cooked properly or come back and well get you something else. They basically said you are SOL.
I have only been in here once but the air of cockiness these guys present is no bueno. You do have a good brisket but other than that the other stuff will make a good crap and that is it. These guys need some good ole humble pie to go with their attitudes and how they treat patrons. People do not repeat a visit when they disregard the nasty food they served. Do better.

Best barbecue on this side of Houston!!! They like veterans and the fatty brisket is nice and moist. Spicy collard greens is awesome and the homemade mac and cheese is to die for!!
