We stayed at Chetola the weekend before the first big snow storm turned this place into a winter wonderland! Our kids love the breakfast each morning (especially the crispy bacon!) before we explored the grounds and town. We walked everywhere including this great hike around a lake above the property.

A few highlights were feeding the swans, finding a salamander in one our crocs, and cooking smores around the large fire pit after a long day. Our girls loved it!

I heard they are under new management and have a new chef. We can’t wait to go back!

This review reflects dinner over two nights during recent stay on the property. First night ordered the charcuterie which was lovey, the lamb bolognese and the filet. The filet was flavorful, very tender but a tad over the temp ordered. The lamb bolognese tasted good but wasn’t the typical texture of a bolognese sauce and instead was more of a chunky sauce with lamb chunks, mushrooms, etc. so unusual but not bad. But a couple of things were off putting the first night. They were training new staff and the manager’s voice giving the group instructions was distracting (took place in the servers area/kitchen but we could hear from our table). Second was when we asked if we could take two wine glasses to our room to go with the bottle of wine we had not finished, room was above restaurant, we were told no and were offered plastic cups, and that would had been fine but the explanation was an off putting tale that letting one couple would soon lead to 40 glasses missing. He didn’t mean it but the interpretation was we would steal the glasses. When I stay at a resort at this price point and am paying for a special dinner this isn’t what I expected. Second night was a totally different experience. Instead of dining room we ate in the bar area. Bartender was absolutely delightful. Had the burger which was excellent and the hot ham and havarti sandwich was spectacular. Loved the fries. So we would go again to eat bar food but skip the dining room until they get more settled in with new management and chef. I completely understand start of season new staff training just wish a couple of things had been handled differently the first night. The female server that first night did a great job

Natalie was our server. Let me tell you , I don’t remember the last time I had such a professional, quick , helpful and wonderful server !!! I was blown away by her skills, and what a wonderful help she was! We got perfect recommendations for our meals and the food was so so so good! We had the hot goat cheese appetizer and it’s the best ! I asked possible nice seating area and they sat us next to a fireplace and a window seat and it’s was the best !! And the flowers on the table with a strawberry cheesecake was icing on top . Thank you for perfect service , atmosphere and food ! It was perfect birthday experience

It’s a good restaurant but too formal if you’re dining with toddlers. The food felt like it was cooked with high-quality ingredients, but it did not have interesting flavor profiles. It was good but very “safe” to satisfy the masses. The presentation was nice. The drinks were great! It was good but overpriced. I would maybe eat on Main Street instead. The atmosphere felt very buttoned-up and quiet. You could hear the conversations clearly at nearby tables. The staff was very attentive and proactive. The lavender haze gin cocktail is a must, and my husband commented that they have reasonable prices for the scotch. My crab pasta was good, and the chicken tenders I ordered for my sons were also tasty. My husband got the beef tenderloin and said the meat was high-quality and well-sourced. It was juicy, but the beef was underseasoned and unremarkable, and the gravy that it came with wasn’t good. The side dishes were tasty. The cheesecake was not good. We didn’t finish it.

Taj was our server – the best! Great entree recommendation- braised ribs. Falls apart when you fork it, full taste , delicious glaze. The root vegetables were tasty too, not overcooked. Hubby got salmon risotto, great salmon, ok risotto.

One of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.

Service was disorganized and unprofessional from the start. We waited an unreasonable amount of time for our main course, only to find out the order hadn’t even been placed. When the food finally arrived, it was extremely underwhelming — poorly executed, unbalanced, and simply not worth the price. Several dishes were barely edible.

What was most frustrating, however, was the complete lack of accountability afterward. We were assured the situation would be handled and corrected, yet there was no follow-through and no effort to make things right. Communication stopped, promises weren’t kept, and the issue was ultimately dismissed.

Dining out should feel enjoyable and well-managed — especially at this price point. Unfortunately, this experience reflected poor leadership, inconsistent service, and a serious lack of customer care.

I would not return.

We have been coming to this restaurant for years I dint know what happened but it is definitely not the same. We made reservations for New Years Eve. The menu was very limited. That being said we thought the so called rib eye would be a good choice NOT!! The best thing we had was the pear salad The steak was not a rib eye it was like a thick very tough sirloin no taste at all. Our scalloped potatoes were not cooked and tasted like raw potatoes with cheese sauce in them. And to make matters worse our table was right off the entrance door and reception area. We had to endure a screaming child while trying to enjoy a cocktail before dinner. Very disappointed. We will not return

Our overall experience wasn’t great. Being from Florida and enjoying good seafood, we were excited and tried the lobster Mac and crab linguine. The lobster Mac was very bland and the crab linguine was watery and had a strange taste that was unlike anything we’ve had before. Didn’t eat but a bite or two of the linguine and we were told by the bartender that she would see what she could do; but when the bill came, the charge was still there. When we asked, we were told the manager or kitchen staff basically refused to remove the dish from our bill. We have no problem paying for something like the lobster Mac that was just ok, but we have issue with paying for something that we clearly didn’t enjoy and was definitely not worth the $40 for the dish. Maybe try a different sauce and consistency.

On a different note, the drinks were good. The two of us had three different martinis. The bar tender that created the valentine’s menu and red velvet martini was wonderful and it was a unique and delicious drink.

We chose this restaurant to celebrate one of the most special nights of our daughter’s life — her engagement on New Year’s Eve. Unfortunately, what should have been a beautiful memory turned into one of the most disappointing dining experiences we have ever had.

To begin, the restaurant was not busy. We were seated promptly, but given a server who clearly had no idea what he was doing. While our appetizers arrived in a reasonable amount of time, everything unraveled after that.

Thirty minutes passed with no entrées. Our waiter eventually returned — not with food — but to inform us he had forgotten to place the order entirely. We then waited another 30 minutes for food that, quite honestly, was nearly inedible. The pasta tasted as though an entire bottle of prepackaged lemon juice had been poured over it. The scallops were barely edible. It was shocking for a prix fixe New Year’s Eve menu at this price point.

We tried to salvage the evening because of the occasion. You would expect at least a basic level of professionalism on such an important holiday. Instead, we were met with carelessness.

The next day, I contacted the restaurant. The manager called me personally and assured me we would be refunded for the experience. I kept in communication with him as he claimed “upper management” was reviewing the situation. No one ever followed up. No refund was issued. After weeks of reaching out, I was ultimately told they would not be refunding anything and would not be compensating us in any way.

To make matters worse, two months later we were charged again — over $600 — for reasons completely unrelated to our visit. We do not even live in the same town. This charge is now being disputed with our credit card company.

This was not just a bad meal. It was a complete failure in service, food quality, follow-through, and integrity. For a restaurant that markets itself as an elevated dining experience, this was shockingly unprofessional.

Proceed with caution.

We went to breakfast after an overnight trip to Blowing Rock. The location was beautiful with a senior view. We were seated quickly and the interior decor was beautiful. We both ordered omelettes with sausage potatoes and toast. The omelettes were ok but a little overdone. Toast was severed dry with no butter or jelly. Great venue but food was very average at best. I would go back to try again.
