Gonna Learn
Back in the RGV for a short visit and was looking for new places to eat. Found a super good little diner right up the road in Pen̈itas. Alicia’s has a friendly local Mexican atmosphere and delicious food. Eggs, crispy bacon, potatoes, beans and tortillas made a great breakfast. My grandson enjoyed his omlete and his friend enjoyed a plate similar to mine. All of us got filled up on a great meal with all the trimmings – and it did not drain the wallet. We were impressed enough to go back a few days later for a repeat – and yes, it was just as good.

Excellent service by Imaltzin!! We were a pretty large group, but she managed to take care of all of us and was very pleasant.

This place give me the wrong order and I had only noticed when I got home. I had ask for all the vegetables on the side and everything was still there. When I had ask them to make a new one it look like the just picked off the onions and the bell pepper when I had told them to remake the order. And the wait time is ridiculous. I’m sorry but this place for the food is not so great won’t be coming back. Then when I had called back the lady was like I assume you only wanted the lettuce on the side. Everything was cold. I honestly wanted a refund but I felt like that was to much of a hassle for them to deal with.

Best caldo de Res and fajita plate . You can taste the home style mexican food just like your mother made . FYI the caldo de Res on Fridays is made with Dino Rib that adds a great taste.

Ordered the daily special. Two eggs with two chicken tamales with beans and potatoes. It was ok. Tamales were not that good. But ok. Eggs were done perfectly. Potatoes and beans were ok. Would not recommend getting the tamales.

Hands down THE BEST place to eat. I will admit they sometimes get it wrong but 90% of the time they exceed our expectations. The caldo de res was delicious, the Tex-mex enchiladas are my oldest daughters favorite and the youngest can’t resist the guacamole.

I ordered 2 ten inch tacos and they were HUGE. More like footlong tacos. If I’d known they were that big I’d go with the 6 inch tacos. The Puerto prenzado is really good.
