BIG EATS
The atmosphere was relaxing and the service was good. Went there with my daughter for lunch and had a great meal. She had the tofu bento lunch box which was huge, had tempura shrimp and vegetables, a California roll, rice and stir fried vegetables. I hag their lunch sushi and sashimi combo with xtra rice. As you can see the fish was super fresh and clean tasting. Absolutely no fishy smell. Each came with a ginger salad and miso soup to start both excellent. I also had their cucumber seaweed and crab “summer salad”. If you’re in the mood for sushi or hibachi this is a must try in Clifton Park. It is in assuming outside but definitely try it out if you enjoy this type of food.

My fiancé and I went for the hibachi table seating for a late lunch/early dinner. It took a few minutes to get seated as they were busy with to-go orders. We were sat on the other side of a large party at the hibachi table. While they got the large party settled we waited patiently to be greeted and have our orders taken. Things started off a little slow and then quickly picked up after we placed our orders. Soup and salad served first before hibachi was delicious. We ordered a couple of sushi rolls which were very fresh and nicely presented. There were two chefs cooking back to back at our table which was entertaining to watch, especially when they put on a show and have fun with it. The servers were very attentive to follow. I got the salmon and my fiancé got three different steaks, all of which were perfectly cooked. The back hibachi room was decorated with some holiday looking decor and birthday decor as I’m sure they have a lot of celebrations here. I do wish the atmosphere was a bit more comfortable as once the hibachi was cooked it was really quiet.

Wait a second, do I like sushi now?

A week before a convention I was longing some Japanese themed food, and a hibachi is just the place you can find the good stuff. However I’m always about take out unless it’s breakfast, luckily Mr. Fuji had me covered with a dinner box.

Went with the shrimp teriyaki box, which came with rice (I upgraded to fried), shrimp and vegetable tempura, a choice of side (harumaki was my pick), soup, salad, and a California roll. (I upgraded to a shrimp tempura roll) All together the price did come to a pocket patting $50, but let’s be honest, this is a LOT of food.

I was very pleased that my oder over the phone for a later time was not just sitting there waiting for me when I arrived a few minutes early, as I much prefer to have the meal make me wait a little longer so it as fresh and hot as possible. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve arrived to pickup an order at other locations, just to find my bag has been sitting there upwards of 15 to 20 minutes. Yikes. Not at Mr. Fuji’s though, hot and fresh. Very nice.

Back home I sampled a little of everything and couldn’t help but devour the sushi! I’ll tell you now I, for over 20 years, have thought sushi to be gross and nasty tasting. But as an adult now, this stuff was the bomb! I loved it! Of course it wasn’t raw fish, it was fried shrimp, but still, everything else was still there and I was down with it all. What a pleasant surprise.

The shrimp teriyaki was the same, a few bites and it was gone. That along with the harumaki, were just perfect. Wonderful flavors, the shrimp was just the right texture, and the onions below were surprisingly refreshing. The tempura was 50/50 though, with the shrimp side being a thumbs up but the vegetable side being a solid “meh”. Wasn’t a fan of the breading they used for the veggies, and they felt a bit under-fried with parts of the dough still uncooked. The fried rice was as one may expect, very filling. As for the salad, well, that got put away for another day as I eat somewhat backwards than I should have. Such is life.

Overall this was a grand experience, the service was also very friendly and fast. I could easily see myself returning here for a sit down meal with a party in the future.

Enjoyed my Sunday lunch here. Ginger dressing on salad is always a pleasant treat. This is one of the few places to try the unique Avocado peanut roll. I usually get the Alaskan roll, but know that it’s not the same here as other places. Yaki Udon was very tasty, but maybe had a little too much sauce. Perfect to take home and add some rice. The fried ice cream was excellent and was of good size. Service was good.

Okay so I got a pretty big order off of DoorDash. It came pretty quickly which was nice and it was very good. But we got the tempura ice cream and I get close to the bottom and there’s a staple… absolutely insane, thankfully it wasn’t swallowed.

Overall it’s a good time and prices are reasonable. Service is decent but they do tend to forget things and ignore the individual.

For example my son ordered broccoli only as a side with his hibachi, but it was mixed in with the rest of the veggies. Then when we said something it was just taken aside. As a result the broccoli tasted like onions so my son wouldn’t eat them.

I ordered a filet mignon and my filet was then mixed with the other people’s steak. When I said something I ended up with a mixture of filet and steak, and because filet is always a smaller cut, I got a smaller portion. Meanwhile, the guy who ordered the steak made out well. Usually I wouldn’t let something so simple bother me, but it has happened three times there now, and this time I said something and it still happened!!

The staff has a sort of shut up, eat and go mentality. They always rush appetizers, soup, salad and the hibachi on top of each other. No care for piling the next meal

The atmosphere is decent, but not epic.

Lastly, the spicy mustard side is really not great, either overly runny, or lumpy, no in between which worries me when I get two sides of the same sauce and both sides differ in consistency???

It could be much better of they tried a little harder. I much prefer Koto and the quality and care I received there.

All this said, it’s very popular and most I know love it. So perhaps I’ve been unlucky with my experience or just have a higher standard.

Fresh clean and delicious. Thought it was gonna be one of those whole in the wall cheap it out kind of sushi place but it by far the best thing I ate out here so far. And spicy tofu was on point. Only thing wish the workers would try the food to have an insight of what’s good and etc. Oh well roll the dice and it was all worth it. Mochi wasn’t worth it. Tasted like it’s been sitting for months on end only reason I gave a 4 star

This place has been going downhill. Every single time I have ordered hibachi to go they always forget to include spicy mustard that I specifically ask for. Every single time. Well, I guess they got tired of my complaining every time I make them drive me out some when they screw up because now they’ve taken it completely off the menu! Whelp, There are six of us in our household and we all enjoyed eating hibachi from Mr. Fuji. That’s about a $500 order a pop. Not anymore. This last order that I made, I specifically asked for it, it wasn’t delivered, I go there and ask for the spicy mustard because they once again forgot it, and she tells me that it’s off the menu without telling me before the order was completed online and made. She tells me they have garlic sauce. So, reluctantly, I said I take two of them. She brings me one and says she’s sorry she has to charge me for another.

If you’re gonna be that tight over a sauce, I am never patronizing this place again, especially with their lack of disclosure about the mustard sauce, taking off the menu and still letting us unsuspectingly order our food. These guys have always put up a fight whenever there’s a screwup. I am absolutely done with this place and I wouldn’t suggest anybody else bother with them anymore either.

We absolutely love Mr. Fuji – it has become “our spot” when we want some deliciously fresh sushi and quiet conversation for a date night. They have hibachi tables on the other side of the restaurant that always seem to have happy customers as well.
