A dream became a reality for one of my favorite bakers and I couldn’t be happier. On our trip to Illinois from Michigan we stopped in for the first time and we are so grateful to have experienced the newest bakery in town maybe even in the surrounding area. All the baked goods looked so delicious and mouth watering to say the least and ofcourse we splurged and purchased several. I will add the taste review after we try them but again what an amazing bakery with the best employees. From your love and support to ours we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. RIP Jenny ❤️❤️❤️ she absolutely loved to bake and would’ve stopped in if she were still here today. Congratulations and we are looking forward to our next visit.

So happy about this new addition to Williams Street! Since giving Black Market Bakery a try, we have been in weekly for a sweet treat. They offer both gluten free and vegan desserts for those with dietary restrictions. I personally have had a few different vegan desserts and promise you would never know the difference. The bakers are super kind & knowledgable. I have noticed that they rotate out seasonal treats and always have something new in the case week to week. Can’t recommend enough!

In love with bakery! We went Sunday around 12 and there were still a bunch of options to choose from. I got the hot fudge pop tart, the kitchen sink cookie, Oreo cookie, and the puppy chow bar. Oh my gosh, all four were amazing! I believe the kitchen sink cookie is vegan and it was so good. We will definitely be returning soon to try more items.

Hm… Where do I start? Super friendly ladies helping you out (as I could not decide at all…), great (too much selection with gluten free and vegan options as well!
Unfortunately,I don’t even have evidence pictures of the peanut butter oatmeal cookie or the cheddar and chive scone, because they were so delicious and were devoured within minutes of leaving the bakery! (Yes, didn’t even make it home)
I have never had a scone in my life before and hurt they can be dry. Bit this one, didn’t need any butter or really anything was just eaten plain. Kind of reminded me of cheddar bay biscuits but the deluxe version! The peanut oatmeal cookie was deliciously crispy on the edge and chewy and not dry on the inside and … NOT TOO SWEET!
The pics attached are from the personal sized/’small’ (yeah… They have bigger ones…) apple cinnamon roll. One before heating it up in the toaster oven for 6 minutes and one pleated freshly out of the oven.
It was to die for…. You’d think it would be super sweet (hey, IT IS a cinnamon roll after all, so it is allowed to be sweet), but no, the apple topping (which were lightly cooked, still crunchy) wasn’t too sweet and brought extra flavor without adding extra sweet sweet on top of everything.
Soooooo good!
I’m glad the bakery closes at 3pm and I hardly ever make it to Crystal Lake before that otherwise I’d spend all my money and would look like a walking cinnamon roll myself….
(By the way, I went twice within 20 minutes as I was on the phone with a friend when trying the peanut oat cookie and was raving so much that she made me get her one too ).

I wish I could’ve ordered one of everything! The staff was so friendly and helpful when walking in. We took home a honey butter cornbread cookie, puppy chow bar, churro cheesecake, oatmeal cream pie, and Oreo pudding chocolate chip cookie. Everything was so fresh and to DIE for!
There are tons of options for customers with dietary restrictions as well. We can’t wait to come back!

Went there last month after a couple of tries because those hours for a bakery, in my opinion, are not the best. A small loaf of bread is $5.00. Cinnamon rolls are just ok, not great, and they have an exaggerated amount of icing on top (not everyone likes that). The variety of baked goods is limited, and I saw a guy with a beard who was at the back helping with the pastries and no beard guard/ hairnet, nothing. I guess not what I was expecting.

Very clean open kitchen bakery with a large variety of fresh baked goods. They have gluten free and vegan options as well. All were excellent quality and fair pricing.

We are OBSESSED – new favorite spot for a sweet treat, specifically the blueberry pie bar and their pudding cookies. My husband and I especially love that they are traditionalists in that they do not use salted butter, so all the treats are well-balanced. We have also been lucky to snag a “day-old delights” box once or twice – pastries from the day before. Such a good value!

I absolutely adore this bakery! My son and I come here often and every visit feels special. The people who work here are genuinely sweet, kind, and so friendly they always make us feel welcome. And the scones… truly the best I’ve ever had. Fresh, soft and baked to perfection every single time. This place is a real gem!

Love the options of heavenly sweet rolls . Excellent cookies and many other sweets to try in the future. Freindly staff!
One thing I would improve on though is take out packaging. It’s clear plastic that looks like it can be recycled curbside but it can not as it’s #6…the same as stryrofoam. How about a recyclable/compostable box or recyclable plastic at least!?
