It’s plenty of barbecue places around Mississippi. If I had to choose it’ll still be Sylvester’s, I’ve tried several spots and I can tell you the difference. You want some good food with no sauce already added this id the place to go. Get sauce in the side and really taste the food. It’s a difference. Been going here for several years now. Sausage dog, ribs, wings sides.. it don’t matter what you get, the food is good.. See for yourself..

Best ribs in Mississippi. Pick up at least once a month and have never had a bad experience. Ribs are always meaty, tender and smoked to perfection. Generous sides and priced well. Super friendly folks.

Had the opportunity to visit Sylvesters while on vacation. The ribs were seasoned so well that I didnt want bbq sauce. I’ve never experienced anything so good. Only wish they would ship to California.

I ordered the rib plate with baked beans and mac and cheese and the rib tip plate with baked beans and fries. The ribs and rib tips were so tender!! Both plates came with a slice of buttered and toasted light bread. The baked beans were sweet, but I personally like them that way. The mac and cheese was good. The fries weren’t my favorite but they aren’t bad. I’m just not a fan of thick fries. Overall, everything was good. I got there at about 10:56a and there was already 1 person standing at the door waiting and 3 more sitting in their cars. I left at 11:08a and the line was to the door. So go early.

It was just ok. There’s no flavor to the meat and BBQ sauce taste like water was added to maybe sweet baby Ray’s or something cheap. I had the rib tips and they didn’t taste good. They was just ok. Nothing special to brag about.

I’m a fairly frequent customer, and agree with one of the other customer’s reviews that sometimes you can get juicy, just-right ribs, and then other times, ehh!? Same thing with their wings. Their pork sausage links used to be very good, but I ordered the pork sausage dog @ 3 weeks ago, and it was NOT good. I called back and asked if there was something different about the sausage, and the woman told me they had ‘changed vendors.’ When I called today, I asked if they were still using the same vendor that provided the pork sausage from 3 weeks ago, and she said she did not know, but that they were using ‘Country Pleasin’ brand sausage. I asked if I could get a sample of the sausage before purchase, and she said they did not do that. I didn’t understand the reasoning behind that, but I did not want to chance wasting my money again! I wound up ordering the burger for my husband, which is extremely huge and the meat is somewhat ‘grainy’ for my taste.

Be prepared to wait for the restaurant to open. The business operating hours posted at the restaurant and online states 11:00am but that is not accurate. This type restaurant opens whenever it feels like it. There was a long line of impatient patrons waiting in the parking lot and the employees didn’t actually open the door for business, until approximately 11:22am. They offered no apology or explanation to their customers for the inconvenience. Don’t waste your time coming on time because you’ll still be waiting!! The customer service is not the greatest and the food is average at best. Expect the same level of service you would receive at E&L BBQ. Other online reviews rave on the BBQ sauce but it’s a bit too sweet for my taste palate. Overall, I’ll give this restaurant a 3 star rating.

The atmosphere is wonderful. They are friendly and fast-paced. There is usually a 15-minute wait with call-in orders . The lady rotates the lines with no problem. My tips were a little dry but overall, I will still support.

It would be nice if they didn’t charge extra for sauce even though the sauce is not enough Don’t really care for restaurants to try to up charge for every little thing it’s sad especially in this economy they don’t even serve sweet tea I don’t see how you call yourself a barbecue joint and you don’t serve sweet tea this is the south smh
