I’m a DoorDash driver. Last night, 6/27/2025, at exactly 8:53pm, when I parked right in front of Subway to pick up the order, the worker walked up and locked the door. I knocked on the door (glass) loudly but he kept walking to the back. I tried calling the store but there was no answer.
I walked around to the back door, to knock there. The worker was sitting on a bucket, smoking and had clear plastic bottle.
The man was visibly “on something”. I asked him to please unlock the door so I could get my order, since it was only 8:55.
When I met him at the door, the smell of cigarettes was so strong on him and in the store. It was disgusting! Is this the face each customer has to see and smell when they place their order?
I asked him why he locked the door when he seen we coming, He just kept saying I don’t know, I don’t know.
My order needed drinks, when I walked in to get them, he disappeared to the back, I suppose.
Columbia Subway use to be the best but based on last nights experience, it seems to have slipped down a slippery slope.

We walked in on May 18th around 12:15, we had the most unfriendly worker, cussed the entire time saying “I’m about to leave” and “I can’t keep doing this” mind you, we’re the only two customers in the building…. Another worker comes out, starts to help the girl.. as soon as the other girl who comes out to help, the original girl helping us takes her gloves off, goes to the sink where the employees wash their hands, hikes her leg up on the sink in front of us and has the biggest open wound on her knee/calf and starts patting it and touching it with paper towels. You cannot do that in food service, it was the most sickening thing we’ve seen anywhere. ONTOP of their horrible attitudes. 10/10 will probably never go there ever again.

We have been coming here for a couple of years. Staff is generally friendly, but the service has slipped. The last two trips, the lettuce has been brown. They brought out a new batch, but it was the same and they didn’t seem to think it was a problem.
Eat Fresh should mean more than words on a wrapper.
The ice tea has been either out or close to it. At 11:15 in the morning, I would expect that to be fresh.
What used to be a good choice for lunch is losing its appeal to us. Pretty much the story with a lot of fast food restaurants.
In fairness, we came back and the past couple of visits have been much better.
Upping my rating based on more recent visits.

I was having problems with the app so I called the store and all I got was a nasty response. They stated they are not responsible for the apps (well obviously) and couldn’t help me with it and hung up. I went into the store and of course Nobody was in front so I had to yell for somebody. After somebody finally came out, they had a horrible attitude towards me, so I just walked out. I would highly recommend going south or north because this subway and location is terrible. I sure the owners are just as bad hiring people like this.

No interaction with workers for my online order. Had to inquire about missing item and sandwich maker seemed frustrated that they had to make it. I was also not reminded to get sides out of cooler for my kids meal so I failed to get those. Literally no speaking from the workers except the girl who handed me the missing item who smiled and said “here you go.” Poor customer service.

By far the worst Subway I have been to. I don’t know how one place can be so dirty. I get that they don’t have many workers but that doesn’t mean that it should be dirty everywhere. They also seem to always be low on ingredients when I go. And the no coupon rule is very annoying. But by far the worst thing I have seen in this place was one of the workers vaping inside while on his phone. Thank god it wasn’t next to the food.

Not the cleanest location and does not honor any coupons. The no coupon thing is really annoying because you are spammed with coupons that you can’t use. With multiple locations within 5 miles I now drive to a different town when ordering subway. Waterloo has a very nice location.
*** Edit – Still not excepting a good amount of coupons and still not going to this location. Jimmy Johns is going to put this one out of business as soon as they open this year….can’t wait!!!

Terrible customer service. If you are going to provide a remote service, make sure that you are aware how it works! Also, should be more considerate to teenage kids that are first timers, learning. Everyone has a first time!!!
*Revised* get home & the sandwich order was incorrect!!! Rechecked app history, they made correct sandwiches, but placed the veggies & condiments on opposite sandwiches!!! Expensive sandwiches that were wrong

Young man that made my sandwich. I don’t have a lot of faith in him owners watch him make my sandwich. I asked for a BMT double meat. Not a very friendly store not a very clean store. The young lady that was putting on the sides didn’t think it was a BMT. I asked him to check and I sent it on down the line and I paid almost $15 for a sandwich that when I got home was probably one of the worst Subway sandwiches I’ve ever had young lady didn’t smile when she handed me my sandwich I said thank you and she just stared at me and handed it to me. Don’t go there find another subway they’re everywhere.

If you place an order on the app for a specific time, you should expect that you could pick it up at that time. Not only was my order not ready, they couldn’t even find it at first. I tip well on the app for pick up orders and it is frustrating when the service does not warrant a tip at all yet they will still receive it.
