Reviews
I’ve ordered #2 and #4. Beer and soju prices are also probably the most reasonable in the area.
Sides were good. Actual entrees I thought were on the smaller portion side. Flavors were good.
Sunny was very friendly and attentive as our server!
Parking can be tough during peak hours.
The fried rice was okay, but way overpriced at $29.90. The prices are seriously higher than other Korean restaurants, but I didn’t even feel full. I won’t be coming back—I’m not spending $70 on a bowl of udon noodles.
But yesterday I ordered Galbitang for the first time. The soup came out very salty and tasted very artificial. It looked like they added few row green onion, carrot and row mushroom over MSG Soup.
Galbi meat in the soup looked good at least. So I was try to eat Galbi meat only from the soup, but I consumed some soup too.
It was my late breakfast, then I started to have stomach pain 1 hours later. The pain last till late night and I had diarrheas. I feel the cause of my trouble was too much MSG in the soup. Galbitang was the only food I had that day due to stomach pain, I’m sensitive to MSG. I feel better this Morning now. I was lucky that I did not finished the whole soup yeaterday.
It used to be one of my favorite restaurants for a long time. Did ownership of this business changed…? Their service used be up and down, but food quality and taste has been so consistent. I don’t think I’ll go back to Seoul Gontang any more. Who want to pay to $29.45 to MSG Soup and get stomach pain?
To my surprise, I really liked everything here. Yes, it was 9 PM, and there was no one in the dining area, but the soup was very, very tasty, and I will definitely come here again. The portion was large, everything was fresh. I really liked it all. Thank you very much.
The second time I came, the dining area was full and very noisy, but that wasn’t a problem for me as I was pregnant and just wanted to enjoy a good meal.
To my surprise, when the bill arrived, the price was different—slightly higher than before. When I asked why, the woman said, ‘Fine, just pay $30,’ for example, giving me a rounded amount.
But after I paid, she demanded a tip. I was shocked by such audacity.
For the latest visit, we initially received the written bill with correct items but the final bill calculated was incorrect and we got overcharged for what we ordered… unfortunately we were in a rush and only realized that after we got home.
Service was variable as well.
During our last visit, the lady server was very inattentive. We needed to make multiple reminder for the kimchi refill request. We were in a party of 5, wanted to make a request for both sides but she only brought out one and quickly walked away.
Very unpleasant experience and will not return
We asked to speak with a manager, but were told the manager wasn’t there, and the response was extremely impatient with no attempt to address the issue. I understand restaurants get busy, but basic courtesy is the bare minimum. This was an unacceptable experience and I won’t be returning.
They need to get better waitresses.
