On top of the food, the interior design is gorgeous. It’s the perfect vibe for a date night.
We’ll absolutely be back!
The food was AMAZING. The tuna and salmon were incredibly fresh and melts in your mouth. You can really taste the quality in every bite. On top of the sushi, the karaage was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy inside, and the udon was rich and full of flavor. Every dish was above average.
I will definitely be back and will be recommending it to everyone I know. If you want great sushi with amazing service, this is the spot.
What really made the night was the service. Stacy, Michelle, and Joon were absolutely fantastic.
Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming–they created such a great atmosphere that turned a good meal into a memorable experience.
I ordered the main kyo box some rolls and Ala carte items.
Everything tasted great and fresh. I think they have some operational kinks they need to work out. For example giving me the wrong receipt and order
But I love that they fix mistakes quickly
I will be coming back again soon
Plus, the service truly stood out. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, making sure we were regularly checked on and enjoying our visit. Our main waiter, Joon, and another lady, made the experience even better. Our food was quickly served by the lady, showing her professionalism and politeness as she did so. Our main waiter’s customer service was outstanding, ensuring he created a welcoming and friendly environment. Overall, both staff members honestly made the experience feel a little more special.
For the quality of food and service, the prices were very reasonable. I was so impressed that I immediately told my friends and family about it. I would absolutely recommend Sushi Kyo to anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a memorable dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!!
We tried the spicy garlic edamame, a house salad, an Alaskan roll, and a Bonita roll. The spicy garlic edamame spice level can be adjusted so I got it “less spicy” based on the staff recommendation and it was perfect – great flavors with just enough kick and the edamame were plump and soft – would get again. The house salad was very fresh with a generous portion enough for the two of us to share. The house dressing it comes with had a citrusy umami profile and I loved it.
Hubby had the Alaskan roll: crab, avocado, cucumber in and salmon, lemon, onion out with a soy/mustard sauce. He loved it! I didn’t try it bc I’m not a fan of salmon on sushi but it looked very fresh with good quality salmon.
My roll was the Bonita roll from their special tempura roll selection – it was a heavenly combination of crab, cream cheese, shrimp tempura AND asparagus tempura – all wrapped in a light soy paper with my fave spicy mayo on top. It was phenomenal and definitely something I’ll be craving.
The staff that helped me (Joon I think) was so friendly and kind – very enthusiastic about the soft opening and excited to discuss the menu with me. He even gave me a sample of their pumpkin soup appetizer that they give to guests dining in (I was ordering to-go)!! It was smooth, creamy, and sweet with a lovely pumpkin flavor! Everyone was so welcoming – great service here!
Unfortunately I didn’t have time to dine in – but definitely look forward to it next time – the vibe is sleek and tranquil with large windows that are excellent for people watching. They also have seats at the sushi bar where you can watch the master chefs at work.
Prices are pretty much what you’d expect for the area – they’re a little less expensive so are competitive at the moment. I got an appetizer, salad, and two rolls for around $53 so not too bad. They also have a lunch special and dinner bentos for very good prices with generous choices!
You’ll find them in the Vons shopping plaza around the corner from Baskin Robbin where Chronic Taco used to be – so there’s plenty of parking but can get busy on weekends.
We had a great first experience during their soft opening and very much look forward to our next visit! Welcome to Monrovia!
