Heard a lot of great things about this place, but it gets a solid “meh” and shoulder shrug from me. I’d pass on going back. Food was decent, service was really bad. The waitstaff was nice, it just wasn’t very good service. Tables were pretty dirty, drinks took forever. When I inquired, I got two drinks, one of which was what was ordered. The other…? No idea. Wasn’t even close. Food was pretty good, just wasn’t a great experience. Possibly caught them on an “off night”??? Just wasn’t impressed. The company was great, so it wasn’t a total loss.

So unexpected to find this amazing place in Fort Madison, Iowa. I was staying at the attached Kingsley Inn for 3 nights and ended up eating here each night. Staff was super friendly. Fantastic beer selection. Great food. This place is a gem. Will be back next time I am in town.

Worst dining experience I’ve had in a long time. The food is way overpriced. Paid $14 for an overdone burger ( I ordered med rare and got well done) with nothing on it but the bun, the dry burger, a piece of unmelted Swiss and a few dry mushrooms and a side salad that was literally 4 bites. The service was slow, we were there for an hour and a half for lunch. And the waitress wasn’t attentive and made excuses for all the mistakes. Will NEVER eat there again

If you are in the Fort Madison/Keokuk/Burlington area, then go nowhere but here for a quality dining experience. Perfect place for a date, beer, cocktails, steak, pasta, salmon, and more. Always clean, friendly and delicious. Has a great view of the river and passing trains. It is a real anomaly among what is otherwise a shitswamp of restaurant selections in the area.

Absolutely amazing! This is a very well kept secret outside of Ft. Madison. My date and I had the “Wagyu Tataki” as the appetizer. It is served on an artisan plate with soy sauce, and chopped garlic on the side. If you aren’t familiar with Wagyu beef, it’s beef from a breed in Japan. The great mixture and it’s marinade is great. We also both had the 8 oz sirloin, I had crab on mine. The chef did an amazing job on the grilling and getting the cross grill marks.
To keep this short, all I can say is I will be going back. Also, our waitress Chelsie was amazing helping us with the menu choices. If it is your first time going ask for her. She’s great.

Connected to the Kingsley Inn. Nice place with a cool look. Super friendly staff! Service was a little slow. Potato soup & asparagus were excellent. Wasn’t impressed with the steak.

We have had some very good meals here and some just ok meals. (Last Tues. was just ok. They overcooked our steaks) It is pretty pricey regardless what you order. If you go spend the money on the waygu steaks, you can definately tell a difference in quality.

My experience tonight was extremely disappointing to say the least. “Pecan and cashew encrusted chicken” ended up being burned chicken breast with what I can only describe as peanut/cashew butter thrown on top with some kind of sour sauce poured over the top with some parboiled pasta sprinkled around it. Practically inedible. Glad I brought most of our home for the dogs, at least someone got some good our of it.

Pretty decent beer selection but runs crafty rather than independent. Best cider was from Fairfield. Wagyu beef is on point but expensive for a small town; bargain for big city. Try the carpaccio…

Atlas Steak and Smokehouse has a great environment, friendly staff, 24 awesome beers on tap, and DELICIOUS food! The Wagyu beef is the best beef I have tasted – whether a steak or burger – you can’t go wrong with Wagyu.
