The food was phenomenal. I ordered the Brussels sprout quinoa salad, along with their Brussels sprouts appetizer with bacon, and both dishes were absolutely to die for. Everything was incredibly flavorful, and you could immediately tell how fresh the ingredients were — especially in the salad. It’s one of those meals where every bite tastes intentional and well thought out.
I also had a couple of decaf coffees, and they were really, really good — smooth, rich, and not an afterthought the way decaf sometimes can be.
The atmosphere at Birdies is quaint, cozy, and welcoming — a very nice little spot that feels relaxed without being boring. It’s the kind of place you can pop into on a whim or plan ahead for and enjoy just as much either way.
On top of all that, the customer service was fantastic. Friendly, attentive, and efficient, even during a busy service.
Overall, Birdies completely exceeded expectations. Great food, excellent coffee, warm service, and a charming atmosphere — I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend stopping in if you’re downtown.
She doesn’t just make excellent coffee she creates connection. She remembers people, moves with urgency, keeps standards high, and still manages to make everyone feel welcomed. That balance is rare.
Birdies absolutely needs to keep her front and center. She represents the brand at the highest level and sets the standard for what great service should feel like.
Phenomenal doesn’t even begin to cover it.
There is not a lot of seating in the Cafe area.
“If we could give this place six stars, we would. One word to describe Birdies is this: delicious. The cauliflower appetizer was heavenly and the grits and shrimp had peppers, which we previously hated (not tolerated but hated spectacularly). The mac and cheese tasted creamy and smooth. Overall, the meal was impeccable and introduced us to new concepts of food. The staff was warm and inviting, and Frank was an awesome server. The atmosphere, service and food was excellent and we are definitely returning as soon as possible!”
Sadly, we will not be returning soon, as we live 1500 miles away, but Birdie’s would be one of our first stops next time we’re in Raleigh!
