We were in Tucson checking out Saguaro National Park and Mount Lemmon. After a long day of motorcycling- we found Chela’s within walking distance of our hotel.
What a FANTASTIC find! The Sonoran Hibiscus cocktails were great and the steak fajitas and enchiladas were SO tasty!
Gabriel was an attentive waiter without being overbearing.

Obviously food is always the most important thing about a restaurant. This place is conveniently located, has awesome atmosphere, the staff was prompt, polite, and friendly, but the food fell short. The carne asada in my chelachanga was very dry and very tough. The cilantro lime rice was tasty, but dry, and the elote was also dry, the kernels shriveled. My wife’s bandera enchiladas were slightly better but still on the dry side. Considering the very good reviews we expected much more. Sorry to say it, but in spite of all the great things this place has going for it, we likely won’t be back. Too many outstanding Mexican restaurants in Tucson to waste money on sub par products.

My wife and I tried Chelas for the first time and the food was absolutely delicious, we will definitely be coming back. We ordered the queso fundido, which had a unique and amazing flavor, some sopes, and enchiladas with a perfectly balanced sauce.
From the moment you walk in, the service is warm and welcoming, and our server, Brandon, provided excellent service throughout our visit.

I came in visiting from out of town on a recommendation… Austin chose my entire meal and drink for me, and the Tuna, Flautas, and Mezcal drink was fire! 10/10 would recommend and have Austin be your bartender.

This place is fantastic! The food, drinks, and service are all top-notch. Bobby, the bartender, was exceptional and crafted the best old-fashioned I’ve ever had. I highly recommend trying the dickle rye old-fashioned with cherry wood chip smoke.

I was hoping to have a salad, but I guess not a good idea to go to a Mexican place for salad! The only vegetable/greens in it was some lettuce, rest of it was meet, beans, cheese, typical Mexican (which is good, but not for a salad!)

My husband took me here for my birthday dinner. I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was calm, the lighting wasn’t bright and unbearable and the decor was very pretty. My food was amazing. It was probably the most flavorful dish I’ve had from a restaurant in a long time. I got the La Banderas enchiladas. We also got the quest with chorizo appetizer which was delicious.
