This is currently one of our favorite restaurants in Bellingham! The drinks, food, and atmosphere are all amazing! For our recent visit, we ordered the Brussels Sprouts, Burger, and Gnocchi (which is a new item on their winter menu). Everything was amazing, as always!
For drinks, they are my favorite dirty martini in the city! We also love their Pink Rabbit and their seasonal Only in My Dreams.
The atmosphere is fantastic and the service is amazing! You might have to wait for a table because they get busy and don’t accept reservations, but it’s so worth it!

Elk Street Tavern is an absolute gem—an upscale yet rustic spot that delivers one of the best dining experiences in Bellingham. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between elevated and comfortable, making it great for a casual night out or a special occasion.
The food is outstanding across the board. Their burger and fries are easily some of the best in town—rich, flavorful, and executed perfectly. If you’re into seafood, the oysters on the half shell and the geoduck crudo are incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. The whole grilled sole is a standout dish: unbelievably soft, tender, and packed with flavor.
And whatever you order, do yourself a favor and add the Brussels sprouts—they’re delicious and perfect for sharing.
Top-tier food, warm ambiance, and consistently excellent service. Elk Street Tavern is a must-visit.

Wonderful experience here, and the very friendly staff contributed greatly to that. A very full bar and thoughtful house cocktails should be consumed, but there is also beer and wine. The food is surprisingly seafood forward for a place featuring a rack of elk horns. The “To Share” menu is theory “meat menu” and while slated to share, would not be too much for a single person. The fried 1/2 chicken and burger stood out as exemplary, while the carpaccio needs salt.

The food was amazing! My party got hamburgers, the gnocchi, steak, and the hamachi crudo. Each item was delicious and the burgers might be the best I’ve had in the state. Our server was exceptional and even ran after us to make sure we got some lost items and our left overs. We’re definitely coming back.

I met friends for dinner at 6pm on a Wednesday. We were seated right away. The restaurant was pretty busy, I felt lucky to get a table. Service was fast and excellent. We got a Caesar salad to share and it was plenty for 3 people. I also shared the gnocchi and the chicken which were both excellent. The other person got the fish sandwich which he said was excellent also. Really nice evening. Prices were great for our dishes as well.

Elk St. is exactly what Bellingham needed! Amazing atmosphere and always the most attentive service making sure your experience is the best it can be. The cocktails are unique, tasty and offer a cocktail for every occasion including NA cocktails! I recommend anyone looking for a fine dining meal and a genuine experience.

All of the charm, quality, and coziness of RedLight in a more laid back atmosphere. This food blew my expectations out of the water, and that’s coming from a RedLight ENTHUSIAST. The staff were so friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Could not recommend trying out Elk St enough! One of the best meals I’ve had all year.

The ribeye and Caesar salad for two were incredible! Started off with oyster shooters which I highly recommend. The atmosphere is chill, darkly lit which makes for a great date spot. My wife and I will definitely be back.

This is a little high end tavern right towards the end of State St. The cocktail menu was really intriguing and the two drinks I had were very good. They have mezcal on the menu which is fairly rare and made couple drinks with them as well. I would like to go back just to try their drinks.
We had the burger, bread and butter, raw oysters, and pan fried oysters.
The burger was huge and had a very good fresh taste to it. The party was charred well which I enjoyed but my wife did not care for as much. The fries are super crunchy with a soft inside which I also thought were very enjoyable.
Bread and butter come with a pepper jelly which was actually pretty good for a light snack. Had a tomatillo taste to it which was interesting.
The raw oysters were super fresh and had great flavors on top. I would get those again for sure. I generally really like cooked oysters but these came with a Parmesan cheese on top which was not stated in the menu. I would have knocked the rating down because I don’t like cheese on oysters but I can see the appeal, I really think they should disclose that though since it’s pretty powerful flavor.
Overall really satisfied and would go back. I’d get the fresh oysters again and then try something else for my main.

I was excited to try this place since Redlight is my favorite place to eat in Bellingham. I rarely go out because of the mediocrity of most of the places in town, but I had high hopes for Elk St. We arrived at 7, and my friend and I both wanted the burger, but they had sold out already. At 7:00, mind you. There were 5 other things to choose from, 3 which were apparently “shareable” (the chicken, steak, and fish) so I settled on the Dover sole for $32.00. I understand that they are trying to be like Carnal was—à la carte, with the expectation that you share everything and order a few sides (veggies, starches) to go with it. We did not want to share, so I ordered the Brussels spouts. They claim the sole was for 2 people, but I easily ate it, as it consisted of 2 small filets– about 8 ounces of fish. One can buy sole at the local stores for $11.99 a pound, so I thought this was a total ripoff (a $6.00 portion for $32.00), and it was also overcooked, flavorless, and many bones were found. With tip and 1 mixed drink it was just shy of $75.00. I could’ve got a half chicken ($22.00), or a ribeye to split ($69.00!!), but again with the cost of these easily cooked items, my go to place will always be Redlight, as they have unique Asian inspired and truly shareable dishes that are more difficult to recreate at home. They did have several seafood options, but again….I can buy 2 pounds of 16/20 wild prawns for $25.00 (they were offering 5 prawns for $22.00) or get a dozen oysters at Taylor for $30. The ambiance was great though, I just hope they abandon the à la carte, or make the plates more unique like Carnal did, as it is cost prohibitive and neither the entrees nor the sides were very interesting. Thank goodness for Redlight!!!
