best sushi in the chicagoland area for me! this little stall inside Hmart Niles’ food court is such a hidden gem. my husband and i actually come here once a week now, it’s officially become our comfort-food spot. i’m not a raw-sushi person at all, but they have amazing cooked options. i’m obsessed with the salmon yaki roll. seriously, it’s that good, always fresh and consistent.
we chatted with the owner once, and he told us he even makes the wasabi from scratch. the wasabi alone deserves an award, so flavorful, not the harsh store-bought kind. the owner is almost always there, making the sushi himself and running things with such a friendly vibe. he truly deserves recognition. this is literally the only sushi my stomach can tolerate, so that says a lot.
and it’s not just the sushi. their entrées are unforgettable too. my husband swears by the chicken katsu: crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and the portion/price is super fair.
definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area!

Stopped by to grab something to eat. The staff was very respectful, the food was excellent, and the prices were more than reasonable. They give generous portions of meat, sides, and sauce. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. The employee working there was extremely rude and aggressive. When I asked a simple question about my food order, she started yelling at me instead of helping.
I had already paid for my food and was simply asking to receive my order. Instead of resolving the situation, she threatened to call the police on me. This was completely unacceptable and very unprofessional.
No customer deserves to be treated this way. I felt disrespected and shocked by this behavior. Management seriously needs to train their staff on basic customer service and respect. I will not be coming back.

It’s 50% off after 7pm ish. Great deal! So they get 5 stars for a nice dinner or late lunch at half off. Taste was good. Staff was very friendly and nice. Indoor open seating inside Hmart. The food was fresh. And that’s important for sushi. Once you finish you can shop at Hmart.

When you are buying sushi from a supermarket, as opposed to from a sushi chef in a back alley of Tokyo, you can’t ask for perfection. That said, the sushi here is quite good and fresh although that quality and taste does not come cheap.
There is a food court in HMart supermarket complex with a few tables per restaurant/stall. It is usually enough table space but at peak times it can get pretty cramped.
Service is a bit on the gruff side for the price required, in my opinion.

If you come as a couple or group, why not split a pack (or two) of sushi among yourselves and try some of the offerings from other stalls, as well?

The owner and I am assuming his wife are both so kind. They even gave us an extra sushi for free. The food was amazing and I would go back for it again. The hand roll was delicious. We also enjoyed their hot food items! Highly recommend!

Located in H Mart, to the right when you walk in. It’s next to What A Dumpling. We came after 7 pm, so it was buy one get one Maki free. If you’re looking for good quality, look elsewhere because the quality was like average kind of bland. The shrimp tempura was not crunchy, it was too soft. The spicy Tokyo deluxe combo was not fresh, it was probably prepared earlier in the day. This is a good place if you’re just hungry and want something to either fill your belly, or to supplement your meal at What A Dumpling. The cashier very nice and helpful though.
