Yoroko is a Japanese restaurant located at the stylish Cinnamon Life Hotel in the heart of Colombo, offering stunning views of both the Indian Ocean and the city skyline.

We first visited Yoroko in December 2025 and returned again on 31 January 2026, prompted by the consistently high quality of food and service, complemented by a warm ambience and overall cleanliness.

On both occasions, the level of service and attention to detail from the staff remained exceptional. Sanuth was our server during our initial visit and once again on our return, together with Eranga. The duo did a fabulous job. Their keen eye for detail was evident, ensuring our table was kept impeccably clean at all times, with water and tea regularly refilled. Beyond their service standards, both demonstrated professional yet friendly personalities, which greatly enhanced our dining experience. Although Sanuth and Eranga were our primary servers, it was impressive to see the entire team working seamlessly together, clearing plates promptly and resetting the table as needed.

Every dish we ordered met or exceeded our expectations. The presentations were visually enticing, and each dish was prepared with depth, balance, and an abundance of flavor.

The restaurant also features a few private dining rooms, which are ideal for those seeking additional privacy when dining with a group.

The only aspect that fell short of our expectations was the common restroom. While it is unfortunate that guests sometimes leave the area untidy, an establishment of Cinnamon Life’s standard should ensure more frequent checks to maintain cleanliness and replenish essential items. This was the sole reason for our four-star rating.

Overall, Yoroko comes highly recommended for its consistent service standards, delicious menu offerings, welcoming staff, and refined ambience. We suggest you to make a reservation prior to going. We will certainly be visiting again.

Food was ok but the service was the real star. We were served by Eranga and Rasika who were both excellent. Rasika especially took the time to go out of his way and check whether certain things were available and gave good recommendations and pushed us to try new things. This is the kind of service that really makes guests feel special.

Food wise the small plates were good. The grilled mushrooms, the beef and tuna tartar, the potato salad, the chicken karage and even the tempura moriwase. We shared a steak for the main and weren’t that impressed and the grilled octopus seemed over cooked. The yuzu marinated strawberries were also lovely, the matcha dessert was kind of disappointing. Overall I don’t know if the food was worth it but the ambience was lovely and the service was top notch.

This Japanese restaurant in Colombo offers a very pleasant dining experience. The atmosphere and location are excellent, and as soon as you enter, the kitchen staff from the open kitchen warmly greet you, which creates a very welcoming first impression. The interior is beautifully furnished and thoughtfully designed.

The service was genuinely pleasant, attentive, and professional throughout the evening. The food was outstanding — very delicious, excellent in quality, and clearly authentic Japanese cuisine. While the appetizers were on the smaller side in terms of portion size, they were still full of flavor and beautifully prepared. The main courses and desserts were equally impressive and truly delicious.

Overall, a wonderful place for high-quality Japanese food in Colombo.

Amazing experience here coming from Australia! We were served by Janith, apologies if I got the name incorrect. The food was amazing, atmosphere top notch and the view was beautiful.
Only thing we wished was the serving size to be bigger. Other than that the staff were very kind and cleared the table very quickly.
The chefs were amazing, could not fault the food at all and were delicious.

We went to Yoroko for our very first dinner in Sri Lanka, and it unexpectedly became one of the most memorable meals of our trip. From the moment we stepped in, we were made to feel incredibly welcome. The service was warm and attentive, with our server constantly checking in—not in an intrusive way, but just enough to make sure we were genuinely enjoying every part of the experience.

Chef Raisha’s interpretation of modern Japanese cuisine was both creative and thoughtful. While a few items stayed true to classic Japanese flavors, most of her dishes were completely unique to Yoroko—elevated and reimagined with a distinct personal touch that you won’t easily find elsewhere.

My favourites were the Ponzu Cherry Tomato, Hamachi sashimi, and the Dragon maki—all beautifully presented and packed with flavour. But the standout for me was the Salmon sashimi with pickled sakura—delicate, well-balanced, and something I’ll be thinking about for a long time. For dessert, my favourite was the matcha mousse! It was a delightful surprise—it wasn’t just a mousse, but a play on textures that kept my taste buds guessing and smiling.

We also had Tsukimi and Washi cocktails. I’m not usually much of a drinker, but these were so well-crafted—light, flavourful, and incredibly easy to sip—that I found myself reaching for more than one. They paired beautifully with the meal without overpowering the dishes.

My only regret? That we were too full to try more, and too occupied being amazed that we were not able to take a bunch of photos. There were several other dishes I wish we had room for, but that just gives me an excuse to come back. I’m already craving another visit—Yoroko is a must-try for anyone who appreciates thoughtful, modern Japanese cuisine in Sri Lanka.

We had such a lovely experience at Yoroko Japanese Restaurant at Cinnamon Life. The food was absolutely amazing; fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. The view just made it even better, and the service was attentive and friendly without being over the top. I really loved the vibe of the restaurant; calm, elegant, and perfect for a relaxed meal. Definitely a place I’d come back to and recommend. ✨

Amazing Gluten Free Options! From the moment we were seated Janieth provided excellence service I mentioned I was coeliac and Janieth confirmed they had gf soy sauce and asked the chefs to adjust some meals to GF where possible.

The vibe of the place is outstanding the restaurant had beautiful handmade glass cherry blossoms lights draping from the ceiling so stunning and was a great place for fine dining.

The GM Rasika came to check in on us asked about our travels and made several great travel must see do in Sri Lanka tips. The level of service you receive in Sri Lanka is the best in the world hands down! Thank You Sri Lanka!

Yoroko is undoubtedly the best option for Japanese cuisine in the city. Every single dish prepared by Chef Raisha was nothing short of wonderful. The staff and ambience both exceptional and the variety not a massive selection but plenty to keep revisiting. What a memorable dining experience! I will most definitely be coming back.

The food we tried were fabulous and the manager had some good recommendations. The pork chop main and cherry tomato pickle were 10/10. The salmon sashimi is cut so thin. It’s tasty but not enough. The yuzu infused strawberry dessert was also fantastic.

However we had to send out tequila based cocktails back since since there was no alcohol and tasted like sugar syrup with watermelon! It was unacceptable for the high prices they charge and I have tried the real Shibire. But weak drinks run across the whole establishment of Cinnamon Life as they compromise on the alcohol by either using cheap brands or not using enough. Although their menu doesn’t show local brands I have seen to my eyes that they mix cocktails with local alcohol which is not ideal except of arrack. The bartender said they used some brand called Camino which is not even imported to countries as the US or France. If they used a tequila as Dia De La Sirena or at least Patron on this it would have given taste.

Had a really nice time at Yoroko recently. The ambiance was exceptional. Most of all the service of the staff was outstanding. They were really friendly and attentive. Felt warmly welcomed throughout the dining experience. Especially Eranga’s customer service was fantastic. The presentation of the dishes were fancy and tasteful. I should try the grilled & more flavorful dishes next time. Im sure they will keep improving the cuisine to become the best Japanese restaurant in Sri Lanka ❤️
