Capo Italian Deli – Old Town Alexandria
Although it represents an historic era architecturally, Old Town Alexandria has a diverse and ever-changing restaurant vibe. One of the more recent additions, and a welcome one, is Capo Italian Deli.
The shop is located where King Street intersects N. Washington Street, on the northeast side of N. Washington Street. It offers hot and cold sandwiches – think chicken or beef cheesesteaks (6-inch, $14.49; 12-inch $17.49), chicken parm ($13.50) and from the cold sandwich selections (on freshly-baked Italian Seeded, Philly Sub Roll, Wheat Roll, Spinach Wrap) they offer traditional deli fare, including honey ham, roast beef, an Italian combo with salami hot capicola, and provolone (6-inch $14.49, 12-inch $17.49). My go-to is a turkey/roast beef half and half, on a Philly sub roll.
For a shop that takes up a remarkably small amount of space, the menu is unusually well crafted. Each time I visit I witness a healthy delivery trade, with online orders heading out the door every few minutes. There are tables and chairs both inside and outside the shop, with the outside seating offering a front-row view of Old Town at its best. Service has consistently been good, the place is spotlessly clean, and the sandwiches taste just as good the second day, so ordering a 12-inch becomes a real bargain, if you get two meals out of one order.

The Munch Travelogue
I’ve heard great things about this quaint deli located on North Washington Street in Alexandria, VA so I had to put my taste buds to the test.
I ordered one cold and one hot sandwich to get the full effect. I loved the crunchiness of the bread and how the ingredients were evenly distributed across the whole length of the bread.
You have the option of ordering a 6 or 12 inch sandwich that ranges in price from $13 to $16 and whichever size you order you will be happily satisfied.
Next time I visit, I’m definitely going to check out the eggplant parm which is one of my favorite Italian dishes of all time.

Moved to the area about two years ago from New Jersey and this was honestly the best italian food my fiance and I have had since moving here. The quality of the food is amazing and the portions are perfect! The young woman named Jaime provided such great customer service. She checked in on us and was just so warm and kind. Hard to find employees like that anymore! We will definitely be back!

Going to honest, am not usually a sandwich person so came in with low expectations as the people I was with wanted sandwiches. The sandwiches were incredible. The seeded Italian bread was absolutely amazing – crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. The Italian sandwich was unbelievably good. Highly recommend to others.

Capo is my favorite hoagie place in the DMV and bonus that this location has fries. I looove their seeded rolls that are perfectly soft with a crisp crust. They slice their meats on site which is nice, so I can ask them to slice extra thin like I prefer. Their eggplant parm is great too, thin crisp slices. Staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful.
