Tried their raw oysters and they really good and reasonably priced. I had the house and New Youk points.

The restaurant was really clean and I especially appreciate that when I’m being served raw seafood.

The bartender was friendly and helpful.

There was only one other patron there when I went. I plan to return when there are more people. Great experience overall.

This was my 1st time at Shuck & Shack and it was an unfortunate one. We visited at 6:00 PM on Valentine’s Day, and while I understand holidays are busy, the experience was poorly handled. We did get a table immediately, which was great; its exactly why we chose this kind of establishment on this particular holiday! But didn’t end up leaving until 8:00 PM—a two-hour window is far too long for this type of dining. We watched tables after us get their food 1st. We came as a 6top, and the 5 top after us got their food before us. When I asked the server, her response was” it’s because you are a larger table”. Imagine the head scratch I was doing at this point. We are 4 adults and 2 kids. The other table was 5 adults. That was a terrible excuse! And as our server said several times last night. “Period.”
The oyster came very last to our table. It was for the other family and they said it usually comes before their food at the greenville location.
Our server informed us she was actually the Manager on Duty, which explains the breakdown in service. Because she was stretched thin taking tables due to what I assume were staffing gaps. A manager should be overseeing the flow, not stuck in the weeds. To make matters worse, as a matter of principle, I don’t tip managers who are already compensated at a higher hourly rate than the standard $2.13/hr server wage. I left 10% which kills me as a former career server. But as a MOD, she could have showed any kind of compassion, discount, or free desert for any kind of redemption. Insted all we got was the attitude of someone who is annoyed, in a hurry, and mad at the kitchen staff that was reflecting towards us. After we were done with the 2 appetizer we finished she came and let us know there was no more Alfredo sauce. So, the order was changed, but I think that is where the ball was dropped. That is the point where we noticed other people coming and going, check getting paid, and people after us getting their entrees before us.
It’s unfortunate that the restaurant didn’t overstaff for a major holiday. Having the manager wait tables resulted in a slow, frustrating experience for us.

So let me start by saying I’m a restaurant Manager in a fine dining establishment. So my mom and I had been here before and couldn’t believe people left bad reviews here lately, so we thought we’d come in again since it had been awhile. Megan was our waitress and she did a fabulous job! She offered us water along with our wine and cocktail we ordered, and the fabulous shrimp skillet and raw oyster appetizers, which came out in just a few minutes were fabulous! Then we had the seafood calabash basket combo and po boy fried shrimp and oyster sandwich. The French bread was toasted but soft, with a great secret sauce and my mom loved her dish as well. You people that are nagging and giving bad reviews maybe were just having a bad day, but just like before this business did not let us down and their food is great just the same! Thank you Megan!

This was a bad day to visit this restaurant. Restaurant opens at 11:30. We were the first ones there, and ordered around 11:45, but did not get out food until 12:40, without a word letting us know it was going to be a while… However, the server did come to ask if I wanted a different dressing because “the kitchen couldn’t find Louie dressing” (I expressed that the whole purpose of our visit was to try their signature salad and to bring it over if they happened to find it, but in the meantime to bring me some limes)

My husband ordered Fish and chips, which used to be delicious (we ordered those in August, on a previous visit) Well… the chips tasted old, like they were made the day before and reheated. The Cole slaw was already past it’s prime… smelling more like sauerkraut than cole slaw and tasting even more acidic. The fish… was not cod, for sure, and was extremely hard, impossible to eat.

My salad had 20% or so of the leaves rotten, but after realizing that, i tried to be careful and separate the bad ones from the good ones, which would have been impossible had they had the dressing.

When it server finally came back to ask us how our food was and to refill it drinks, we told her our issues and she did offer to bring my husband a new piece of fish, which we thought was great.

She did not say anything about the coleslaw, and just shrink her shoulders at the rotten salad greens.

When she came back with the new piece of fish, she did bring me some of that mischievous salad dressing that had hidden earlier.

You would think everything was great then, but no: the new fish was well cooked, but tasted rotten as well, and when I smelled it it had a characteristic ammonia smell.

We paid in full. Server said was sorry, but this was not her usual shift.
There was no manager (the normal procedure at any respectable restaurant in such a situation) There was no discount, or a card with 2×1 on next visit, not a free drink with next visit… nothing.

She did say that they knew about the coleslaw and they had thrown it away (but she never offered to replace it)

One of those days, I guess.

But it’s a pity, because it used to be a great little place with delicious food and very good service and in less than 2 months it went to the dogs…

We came in a few weeks ago and had a great meal, the whole experience was 5 stars. We returned today and were disappointed. The bartender/waitress must have been having a bad day, she was very defensive when we discussed the proper way to make a favorite cocktail, she walked off and acted like I was stupid. We asked for an oyster appetizer first but all food came out at same time, the oysters were very small, we complained and were told that they can’t controll the size. I disagree but if true they can control the quantity, maybe throw in a few extra to make up for the pewney size?? Our low country boil was not great, seemed old, like reheated from yesterday? The corn was definitely reheated, it was like mush. So now I don’t know if I should give them a 3rd chance or not, maybe it was just an off day and our timing was bad being the first customer of the day? Regardless, here’s my take, never serve left-owvers, bartender should work on social skills and continuing education as a mixologist. Give the customer a reasonable portion in consideration of the price.

Food was average but over-priced. Spent almost $60 per person. Service needs A LOT of work. Manager/supervisor should work on manners to customers. She doesn’t know how to talk to people in a nice/respectful way. Will probably never eat there again.

Slow, slow, slow.. food was good, we had plenty to eat. But they need staff. Took well over 40 minutes for food. We watched tables sit for several minutes before they were acknowledged.

Went for lunch. I ordered the fish and chips special. My wife got the shrimp and oyster Po boy. Very good portion sizes. The Po boy was stuffed with shrimp and oysters. The lunch special was good sized for the value. The only complaint was the batter was very salty. It took away from the taste of the food. My wife said the same about her food as well. The waitress was great. Good atmosphere.
