Was recommended highly. WELL I won’t be coming back.
Waitress is sweet.
Received food in good time considering it was a full house. Ordered footling dog. Chili cheese fries, iced tea. My fries were warm but the chili was as cold as just coming from fridge seriously!
I liked the one bite of hotdog. So I told waitress. She apologized and said let me fix this. Over 10 minutes later the waitress said oh and asked cook where it was. He wasn’t very nice. He said Hehad more orders in front of me.
Waitress tried to ease it to me that he had 2 stacks of bbq he was working on. WAIT! MY ORDER was already out. Reheat the plate takes less that a min in microwave right? BUT the cook refused to heat it because there were orders in front of me! He said that in an unkid way to her. (I could hear him plainly we were across from open window) She came back to me and I said keep it. My other two at the table were almost done with their meal.
She tried. I told her to take it off my bill. Asked if I wanted to take as a to go order? ARE YOU KIDDING ME! The cook could fix it as a to go but not fix so I could eat along with my family!
I heard the cook being nasty about it.
Well I’m diabetic and needed to eat. I can’t believe this place was highly recommended today.
I nor my family will be back!
Oh our waitress -i would enjoy her for sure anytime. She was overwhelmed with so many orders etc and still came back to me and was very personal with the apology.
Someone needs to let that cook know he wasn’t very professional at all.
Soooo disappointed , we just had said minutes before our order came out that this place may be another favorite on our list of Wilkes restaurants. (We eat out at least 5 times a week. )Because the waitresses were so welcoming.
Ppl at the other table watching was shaking their heads as this played out. I wonder if their food was not complete ?

Tried to call and place a to-go order here yesterday but after answering the phone the girl said hold on and placed me on hold. After 16 minutes of waiting I got tired of it and decided to drive to the restaurant myself and place it there. When I got there it was very busy so I figured the girls were just working hard and needed a minute to handle everything. I placed my order with an older lady, she was very helpful and even recommended cheaper ways to place my order. After she brought it to the back and after I paid for it, I sat down at a table to wait for my order. I saw a young girl answering the phone and recognized the voice from when she answered my phone call, she was telling people to “hold on” sitting the phone down and leaning up against the wall until they came in to place it the same as I did. HOW UNPROFESSIONAL IS THIS PLACE??? After waiting for 30 minutes I walked up to her, seeing as she was just leaning up against the wall, and asked her if she could check on my order, as I was in a hurry. She asked me what the name for my order was and I told her I didn’t give a name, I just paid and they brought the ticket to the kitchen. She then tried to give me someone else’s order and when I told her it wasn’t mine and that I had ordered a popcorn shrimp and chicken tenders meal she told me I was wrong and that it wasn’t her fault!? WHAT?
She continued arguing with me, blaming her coworkers and cooks instead of taking blame in her actions. I was beyond frustrated!! A cook walked out from the kitchen, helped me understand the situation, as he understood mine, and said he would rush it and have it right out to me, so I just sat back down. A younger girl came to me and asked me if she could do anything to make my situation better and I told her no, that I would be letting the owners know about this. She apologized multiple times and even offered to pay for a slice of pie for me to take home! That’s what Wilkes County needs!!! NOT YOUNG STUCK UP GIRLS WHO ARE JUST HERE FOR A CHECK! I will not be coming back anytime soon, I will not be supporting a business that allows their employees to suffer and also their customers. PLEASE FIX THIS PAPAWS!!!

Very good BBQ and great service. The sides were ok and the atmosphere is pretty tired. I would give it 5 stars for carry out BBQ however.

We’ve stopped here twice on our way to Blowing Rock, and we love the food and the service. Is it fancy… no. Is it a great place with great people… yes!! BTW, prices are easy on the wallet.

Had a nice lunch. The pork plate was very good and I loved the hush puppies. Really enjoyed the corn nuggeets. Staff friendly and efficient and the prices can not be beat. I recommend this place if your looking for good pulled pork at a reasonable price.

Waitress was really good an keep the drinks full great place to eat at a place that everyone knows each other an very friendly place to eat at..The food is good , an the price is good , the wait staff is awesome.. I will eat there more often when around that way.. Great place to check out for good food, an good price, an great friendly staff that is very helpful ..So check them out when ya can.

This is a really good old time locals oriented basic BBQ joint like NC is famous for. You don’t come here for fine dining and ambiance, you come for darned good solid food and real straight shootin’ good folk to dine with and feel at home. Their sliced barbecue is very tasty with good smoke, and perfectly moist and tender. The hush puppies are great, Cole slaw is acceptable, and turnip greens are obviously canned, but not bad. Was disappointed they were served with just plain white vinegar, but honestly, I forgot to ask for hot pepper vinegar. The portions were ample and the prices very, very fair. Must admit I was disappointed that I saw neither fried chicken nor bbq chicken on the menu, but there are lots of choices and seafood. No doubt, we will repeat many times. Though shop-worn from age and business volume, everything in there (kitchen area, floors, tables, and bathrooms) is clean and smells good.
