Sub One Hoagie House is a genuine old-school grinder shop, and they absolutely nail it. If you’re looking for a classic, no-frills sub experience, this is the place.
We tried two different grinders, and both were excellent. The bread was fresh, the fillings were generous, and everything tasted perfectly put together. This is the kind of neighborhood joint where you know you’re getting quality ingredients and a sandwich made right.
Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area and looking for a truly solid grinder/hoagie.

My first time here – the food was so delicious and fresh. Service was excellent and fast. I kept it pretty basic by getting a turkey and provolone sub and I’ve never had a turkey sub that tasted THAT good!! Surpasses any and all chain sub places by far. I will definitely be back!!!!

My sister & I stopped at Sub One Hoagie House for lunch last week. I had the Jersey sub, and she had a chicken sub. We both agreed that these were the best subs that we had ever had. The atmosphere was quaint, warm, inviting, and genuine. The flavorful aroma of seared meats, cheese, onions, and peppers added a newfound anticipation to my appetite as I waited for our name to be announced.
I was equally impressed with the kind, respectful attentiveness that each customer was given. This is definitely a place that I will put on my radar whenever I am in Charlotte. As we stood up to dispose of our empty wrappers and to-go cups, I felt a sense of community, drive, gratitude, greatness, strength, resilience, fierce productivity, and phenomenal history all rolled into one.
We will definitely be back.

I am so ashamed that I’ve been in Charlotte all my life and never been here before now lol. I looked up best subs near me and they popped up. When I arrived I realized I’ve past this strip plenty of times over the years but not once have I looked and noticed it. The signage isn’t very visible, but no matter I’ve found it now and believe me I will be back. I tried the New Jersey cheesesteak and it was oh so good! Got sweet tea to drink and it was pure perfection. When I walked in the, the nostalgia of an old school sub shop just puts you right at ease. I spoke with an older gentleman who worked there and was cleaning tables and he was just the nicest person ever. So funny and friendly. I can’t wait to get back and try more items.

I’m not sure how all these people are satisfied with this place. I got the Italian hot and literally had like three slices of meat, I had to open it up and check to see if there was meat on it, That’s how slack it was !Taste was good, but stop being so greedy wit the meat ! and left $10 tip. You would think that they would hook it up a little better but nope.

Sub One Hoagie House has been on my radar for a while now and I finally got around to trying them out.
I went around 1pm on a Tuesday to avoid the noon lunch rush. There was a steady stream of customers while I was there and it took about 25 minutes for me to get my food ordered and out the door (so I recommend calling ahead and ordering if you are in a hurry).
I ordered the cheesesteak because 1) I love a good cheesesteak and 2) theirs gets great reviews. It was a good cheesesteak but a little heavy on the black pepper and not on the traditional Amoroso roll. But it was also not super greasy like other cheesesteaks are. The size was also pretty big for the price.
I’ll be back to try some other menu items.
Big parking lot, locally black owned business.
Note- they accept credit cards but they charge you fifty cents for the transaction

Surprisingly, this is only my second time getting food from here in the 16 years I have been working ‘just up the street’, but in my defense I didn’t know this place existed until late last year. The gentleman that answered the phone didn’t bat an eyelid and just rolled up his sleeves when I told him I was calling to place an order for 14 hoagies for myself and some co-workers. I was given a pick-up time, and the subs were ready on time. For less than $10 a person, 13 of my co-workers and I got exactly what we ordered, each hoagie labeled with our names, and everyone said their hoagies were delicious! This is now a favorite lunch spot of mine and hopefully a few of my co-workers as well. Note: I had DEVOURED the first half of my hoagie before remembering to take a picture!

My first time eating a salad and it’s not a salad….. it’s a sad instead. I waited 35 minutes for 2 sads and 2 drinks. Then I get of lettuce and supposed to be chopped turkey and ham but this is what I got instead. The wait time was ridiculous. Not a good spot for take out if you on your lunch break or in a hurry do not go here. It was not fair for the price.
