We have been coming here for over 10 years, always enjoyed the food. I order the chicken korma and the naan bread and in my opinion it is the best in Hobart. Service is great. Never had to wait long but if I had to wait I would be more than happy. Reasonably priced. Well done on consistency over the years .

Nice authentic Indian restaurant with good flavours. The lamb chop was tender and well-spiced, and the chicken tikka masala was rich and tasty. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was comfortable. Overall a good place to enjoy Indian food.

Raj and his team provided a great dining experience for our group. For the lovers of a hot curry the Chicken Madras packed a punch with both heat and flavour, and for those that prefer the milder side the Chicken Korma was my favourite. Also can’t go past the cheesy garlic naan bread – yum!

Recently under new management, and it’s even better than before! We’ve been coming here for years and it’s always been a local favourite. The food is fresh and beautifully prepared, and the service is warm, attentive, and efficient. Great to see this long-standing spot thriving – highly recommend.

We ordered a couple of different biryanis. The taste was okay, nothing special. Service was quite slow, which was disappointing. What was really shocking was the pricing — the biryani was already expensive over 30 bucks each, and when we asked for the curd that usually comes with it, we were told it had to be purchased separately. Overall, it felt too pricey for the experience. Average food and slow service don’t really justify the cost.

(After receiving a response from the restaurant, I went back and carefully worked out the charges, as we were only given an EFTPOS receipt and not a detailed bill. The total amount paid was $91.50.

This included 3 parathas at $6.50 each ($19.50), 1 mango lassi at $7.50, and 2 takeaway containers at $1.50 each ($3.00). That brings the non-biryani items to $30.00, leaving $61.50 charged for the biryanis. Since we ordered two biryanis, this works out to $30.75 per biryani.

To be fair, the biryani serve was a little generous. However, the taste was just okay, nothing standout. Service felt slow from our perspective. It was also disappointing to learn that the curd, which usually comes with biryani, was not included and had to be paid. Overall, it still felt too pricey for the experience, which is why I’m giving a 3-star rating.)

Absolutely disgraceful experience at Tandoor and Curry House, Hobart. A group of four people spent nearly $200 and received shockingly bad service and food in return.

We arrived at 8:46 pm and ordered two entrées, which came out on time. That was the only acceptable part of the night. The main courses did not arrive until after 10:15 pm — an unacceptable, ridiculous wait with zero communication, zero apology, and zero accountability from staff.

The service was beyond pathetic — careless, unprofessional, and completely disrespectful of customers’ time. When the food finally arrived, it was not even worth the wait. The quality was poor, disappointing, and honestly some of the worst Indian food I’ve ever had.

Spending this much money to be treated like this is embarrassing for a restaurant. This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had, and I would never return or recommend this place to anyone.

Avoid at all costs — overpriced, painfully slow, and utterly terrible.

We’ve been regular customers of Tandoor for over 10 years, and even though we’ve tried other Indian restaurants, we always end up coming back here. The food is consistently delicious — their veggie korma is one of our all-time favourites, and the naans are hands down the biggest and best we’ve had anywhere in Australia!

Even with the recent price increases, we still visit as often as we can. They were always incredible value, and now their prices simply match the quality and other restaurants in the area. Highly recommended!

Extremely disappointing and frustrating experience at Tandoor and Curry House, Hobart. There were four of us, we spent close to $200, and the restaurant managed to completely waste our night.

We arrived around 8:46 pm. The entrées came out reasonably, but the main meals took over 90 minutes, arriving after 10:15 pm. There was no communication, no apology, and no concern shown by staff. Due to this delay, we were forced to cancel our plans after dinner.

The service was shocking, and the food, once it finally arrived, was poor quality and not worth the money at all.
