Thick burgers, not smash burgers. Plenty of parking. Plenty of seating. (all outdoor, but under roofs) Excellent food! Friendly staff! You can see that I got a cheeseburger, fries, a cup of cheese on the side to dip my fries, and a bottle of water.
Do I go here often? Yes. Yes, I do.
It’s worth it.

Now listen here—if you haven’t made the drive to Scotties Frozen Custard, you’re depriving yourself of a heavenly experience. Holy hell, this stuff was amazing. We’re not talking your average soft serve in a flimsy cone. No sir. This is rich, creamy custard that feels like it was churned up by angels with nothing better to do.
I had a sundae that came stacked with just the right amount of toppings, cherry perched right on top like a victory flag. Every bite was smooth, decadent, and made me forget every sad excuse for ice cream I’ve had at roadside stands over the years. And that malt? Thicker than a bricklayer’s handshake—none of that watered-down nonsense you slurp through a straw in two minutes flat. This one made you work for it, and the flavor payoff was worth every tug on that straw.
The whole place has that laid-back, country-porch charm with picnic tables and flowers hanging like it’s straight out of a summer postcard. Scotties doesn’t just serve custard; they serve up happiness in a cup. Mark my words—this one’s worth a detour.

Easy to find. Ample parking. We all tried custard for the first time today, and can never go back to ice cream again. So rich. So delicious.
They had lots of flavors. Service was phenomenal Super friendly, patient with my questions, and everything came with a smile. Huge covered area to sit with like 10 picnic tables, string lights and a bug zapper. The other side had a gazebo type of thing with a more romantic feel to it. Regular food as well, but we did not order any this time. We will definitely go out of our way to come here again when it’s time for a cold treat!

My summer-long search for Connecticut roadside eateries led me to a beautiful location today and some tasty food!
Scottie’s Frozen Custard offers a variety of lunch options at a decent price. Sadly, I did not save room for a frozen custard, so I guess I must return soon… 😉
Today, I ordered the 6 ounce Angus burger, Fries Frenzy (seasoned, breaded fries), and large soft drink. Honestly, this would be my new nomination for best burger in Connecticut. And possibly best french fries, as well. Delicious! It came to $16 and change, which is comparable, given the larger burger.
Eat here once, and you will be a customer for life!!!

I stopped in to try the custard ice cream, and it was absolutely delicious—smooth, creamy, and full of rich flavor without being overly sweet. Each bite felt indulgent but refreshing.
What really made the visit special, though, was the owner Hysn, he was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely took the time to listen to their customers’ feedback. It’s rare to find a place where the quality of the food is matched by the warmth of the service.
Between the fantastic custard ice cream and the care the owner shows for their guests, this spot is a gem I’ll definitely be returning to.

This is a covid 19 takeout review. All food is eaten fresh in the car. I had the mac n cheese bites, chili cheese fries, and bacon Cheeseburger. The bites were similar to any of these types of places. Frozen and heated up, they are OK but nothing special. The fries were decent, chili not so much. The burger was quite good, juicy with a char, and a very nice flavor. The girls that took care of me were exceptionally pleasant and upbeat. On a scale of 0-10 this rates a 6.1.

Great place to go with your family, great atmosphere food and custard is amazing! Closest thing to Chicago Custard. My husband picks Scottie’s over any other place in the area! He is extremely sad you are closed for the season!
Thank you again for great service and overall great experience! See you next season!

Hands down, our favorite roadside Burger place. good, local ingredients for real. I can taste it. They nail the burgers every time. My burger is as rare as I like it and my kids burgers are cooked to perfection. Find a park or a river to visit in Colchester and make Scottie’s your excuse to get out here. They’re worth the trip and every second I put into this review

Colchester classic! They do frozen custard – if you haven’t tried it, you should. This is the kind of place my parents used to take me to as a kid. Had the Turtles sunday – vanilla custard, butter pecans, carmel, hot fudge and whipped cream. It was amazing. Probably could have eaten another. Nice sitting area too – covered, with plenty of picnic tables which looked like they had been newly refinished. Will definitely be back next time I’m in Connecticut.
