We had a lovely evening at Chatham Tap Butler. The food and drinks were okay, but the Portobello Fries were a hit with our group—crispy, flavorful, and a fun twist on pub fare.

The description of the restaurant and the atmosphere gave off British pub vibes with its logo and decor, which set certain expectations. However, the menu and service leaned more toward American gastropub than traditional British. My wife ordered the Fish and Chips, a house special, and our server helpfully clarified that the “chips” were seasoned fries, but they had american chips. She opted for sweet potato fries instead, which were tasty.

I was hoping for authentic English-style chips—thick-cut, soft-centered fries—but when I asked, our server wasn’t familiar with that style and explained their chips were house-made potato chips. Not a dealbreaker, just a mismatch between expectation and reality.

Overall, the food was enjoyable, the staff was friendly, and the vibe was relaxed. Just don’t go in expecting a full-on British pub experience. Still, a good spot for a casual dinner with friends.

Chatham is definitely college/sports atmosphere. Lots of TVs with just about everything on. Food was decent. My husband had the salmon sandwich with onion rings, along with the portobello mushroom fries. The mushrooms were phenomenal and would definitely go back just for them. I had the apple and candied walnut salad and a side of sweet potato fries. I wish the apples would have been more bite size for the salad but it was decent. The sweet potato fries were pretty good. Enough seasoning to be tasty but not overbearing. Was a little frustrated with the service. We could see our waiter visiting tables around us numerous times and we had to flag him down twice. Overall food was good tho and like I said we go be back for the mushrooms alone.

As a longtime fan of the Mass Ave OG, I was glad to have a Chatham Tap so close to Clowes Hall when I needed a quick dinner before a show. It ended up being the perfect pre‑event stop. Despite the place being packed, service was friendly, fast, and completely on top of it. The beer list was solid, and while the food leans classic—burgers, sandwiches, salads, wings, pizza—everything coming out of the kitchen looked great and hit the spot.

If you’re heading to a performance and pressed for time, this is exactly the kind of reliable, easy option you want nearby. Chatham wins again.

Very slow and inattentive service, and very unreliable slow timing to get food. Took over 50 minutes for us to receive the half dozen wings we ordered as an appetizer. We were becoming concerned about timing so after around 45 minutes we put in entree orders – then our entrees immediately came out just 2 minutes after our wings when there was no room in front of us.

Beer selection is decent, and overall it’s a good sports bar vibe place. Food is fine, nothing special but decent. I did enjoy my salad with added salmon.

Overall a good pub/bar that’s usually not too crowded. Has nice outdoor seating as well and the surrounding area is Butler campus and generally peaceful.

Food is decent, too. The portabela fries were amazingly crispy and delicious. Unfortunately the boneless wings with chipotle apricot sauce was extremely bland and disappointing.

However, the dirty martini was good and made up for it!

Holy Cow! Whatever you do, don’t order the Boneless Wings, they’re terrible! They are frozen, over-breaded, nuggets of chicken junk with BBQ sauce brushed over them. Pretty sure these were bought at Sam’s Club. While you’re at it, avoid the grilled CK Club. Not sure what was drier, the chicken or the bread. Pic attached, see for yourself.

Our meal was about as bad as I’ve ever had. YUCK!

Do better!

BEST dining experience I’ve had in a long time! Food was great, but what made everything so wonderful was our waitress, Cara. From the time she approached our table to the time we walked out of the door she had such great energy. It was very busy when we came in but with Cara as our waitress, we couldn’t tell! We had everything needed and more in a timely fashion. She kept us laughing and in spirits. Thank you Cara!

Came here on a busy night before a show but didn’t take too long to get seated although a ton of people showed up right after us. Server was very very nice but clearly pretty busy. But no complaints on service. Everyone was friendly!

Fish and chips is a pass. When we got it it was not crunchy (soggy) but the fries were good! Fried pickles were ok, the sauce on the side is nice with a little spice.

Tenderloin sandwich was just ok, not a ton of flavor and since we got it breaded it was just too much bread.

Our friends liked their soft pretzels (especially the cinnamon sugar dip). And the buffalo dip was pretty good as well.

This is a solid space before a show as it’s super convenient and beer prices are pretty good as well. Likely to come back but will not get fish n chips or tenderloin sandwich. I’d say the food over all was a 3 but service was great so rounded up. I’d give it another try with different food items ☺️

Space is nice, lots of seating, and location is convenient.

This was my first visit and they were very busy, so the long wait for orders was completely understandable. After our orders were delivered by someone other than our server, no one ever returned to our table. My order was wrong, so I pushed the plate full of food to the side hoping our server would return – but she did not. A neighboring table that was waiting to pay finally asked another employee cleaning tables as to the whereabouts of the area’s server.

Overall it was a rough first impression. but if I return to the area, I will probably give them another try.
