Had dinner there with a few friends on December 28. We were promptly given drinks, but the server didn’t come back to take our orders until about 15 minutes later when everyone seemed ready to order.. finally took our order. One of them was wrong. At this point. I was slightly annoyed.

However, I was looking forward to dessert to lift my spirit. When he finally came to check on us, i requested to order dessert. To my surprise, the kitchen had already closed! The server never warned us of this before it closed! That was the final straw for me.

He should’ve told us ahead of time that the kitchen was going to close so that we can place last orders!

We had a very nice dinner. The food was good. It was super packed and I think they were understaffed so it took longer than expected. Our server did amazing condisedering the large parties that she was also catering to. The rolls were super massive. 4 rolls could easily feed three different people. I will be back and look forward to trying all the things. My girlfriend gave it two thumbs up. Will be back.

This is the worst Sakura Restaurant I’ve ever been to. The waiter was the most annoying person I’ve ever dealt with in my life. It took 15 minutes just to serve the Spring Rolls (which were delicious) with barely anyone else in the dining area. Started off on the complete wrong foot with them not even having Sweet Tea readily available then 20 minutes into the wait the server comes back out to verify what protein I wanted in my Yaki-Yudon because there ARE two menus that aren’t clear at all and the dinner one states Yaki-Yudon come with chicken which is the one I ordered but he mistook it for a Hibachi Order. Twice I almost just left but I decided I’d let my patience win this one. The Yaki-Yudon itself wasn’t the best but not the worst and DEFINITELY not worth the irritation getting it right. Other than that the atmosphere is decent and I wish I knew the napkin supplier because they’re the best I’ve ever seen in any noodle restaurant.

Saw this restaurant as I was driving to my hotel. I ordered the Sashimi dinner. The presentation was so pretty and came out quickly. included soup and salad. Very good. Service was good as well.

I have always loved this place. Great old standard but newly updated with live music and love that feeling of dimly lit atmosphere that exudes calm and relaxation even with the place being really busy most times I’ve been and so the noise level is sometimes a little high to be expected but again, the atmosphere more than totally makes up for that!

My absolute favorite sushi restaurant! My go to is the Quasimoto roll. The best service too. I only wish they were in Nashville and/or Hendersonville, TN.

Not a good experience at all. We ordered online and asked for no fish eggs, no mayonnaise on or in anything. We got everything covered in fish eggs. Even the vegetarian futomaki had fish eggs on the end pieces due to their lack of QC. They probably use the orange-dyed grossness to cover the poor quality of the fish. Even the Cali roll had barely any crabstick in it and that fake crab! Service at the restaurant was also poor; went to pick up and the staff just stared without even a hello until we went to the bar (no signs to tell you to go to the bar, no staff pointed it out or anything). Complete waste of money.

Edit-restaurant did refund for the rolls we trashed (most of our order) which was appreciated.

So this place is fanastic. We went here after the cherry blossom festival at the botanical garden’s food trucks ran out of food (lame).

We started of with spirits, we had the hana awaka sake, it was sweet, smooth, and chilled. It didn’t taste like alcohol at all (7%).
I also had the Santory whisky, it had a powerful whisky flavor with a much smoother sensations and only a bit of warmth when it gets to the stomach.

Next we had appetizers, tempura chicken meal came with a house salad and soup, i paid additional for the seafood soup and it did not disappoint. I highly recommend the salad with the ginger dressing its sweet and not overpowering. We also had gyoza and yakitori both were very good but the yakitori won out.

Our main courses arrived and had wonderful presentation. My tempura chicken with fried veggies was a little underwhelming but it isn’t something I normally order in the first place. My wife’s ramen was delicious and was more food than she could handle.

For dessert the waitress brought us the menu where we picked strawberry icecream with lychee jelly. It was more or less like boba. The flavor was spot on though it was like concentrated lychee.

All in all i give it 5/5 hands down.

I found Sakura around 10 years ago and to date no sushi compares. Before Sakura I tried damn near every place from midtown to Cordova. I moved in 2013 and I can’t even buy sushi because the flavor combinations pale in comparison. Every time I come in town I go to Sakura at least once to get a Joyce roll and a Mother roll. DIVINE! If I lived within two and a half hours I’d absolutely drive to get it. Best sushi in Memphis, hands down!!
