UPDATE!!! January 2026 review (5 stars)

This is a story or redemption! Last August, we visited this Cafe Rio (original review below). We are back in Brigham City visiting family and we were told that Cafe Rio is under new management. Whether that is true or not, is irrelevant—what matters is our experience was WAY improved. Friendly staff, order correct, and food delicious. Happy to report a turn around when I can. I know this particular location started off on the wrong foot (and the current 3.3 review average shows it), but I believe in second chances. Well done, Cafe Rio Brigham City team!

Aug 2025 (original review – 2 stars) — I’m a big fan of the brand, but this particular store really left something to be desired. Confused through the drive thru….had to take our order twice…messed up the order…forgot to give us forks, napkins, etc. Forgot to give us our drink (had to remind them). The workers seemed nice enough, but really struggled.

Rain dripped down my windshield today, like the universe was dramatically sighing at my touring schedule, but Cafe Rio in Brigham City became the unexpected sunbeam on my gray day!

I was showing a client all around town, doing the whole “smile through the rain” routine, when I decided a lunch detour was in order.

The second I walked in, the smell of shredded chicken and warm tortillas wrapped around me like a cozy weighted blanket or a grandmother’s hug.

Then a plot twist, one of my former coworker’s appeared (literally they came in the restaurant as we were leaving, super random), stared right through me like I was a ghost at our office Christmas party last year and she acted like she didn’t know me…

Gaslighting level: professional.

But did that stop me from demolishing a shredded chicken bowl like a victorious gladiator?

Absolutely not.

Each bite was like a therapy session, except cheaper and with way more guacamole & cilantro too!

The rain kept falling, the coworker kept pretending, and I kept not caring.

Ten out of five stars, because Google refuses to let my love be properly measured. ️ ✨

Cafe rio offers fresh food with special dietary needs upon request. As far as I know and have seen, they use fresh cut produce every day and products that have never been frozen. They have amazing salads, burritos, soup, enchiladas. I’ve tried everything on the menu and never been disappointed. I’d recommend the sweet pork salad with pinto beans and house dressing. Great kids options that come with a cinnamon and sugar tortilla. Keto and low carb options available as well. Highly recommend trying this place out if you haven’t already!

We have eaten here a few times and it’s good food. Just had a not great experience with an online order not going right and the staff being helpful, and a little rude.

I put in a deal on the app that was supposed to give 2 meals + chips&queso + 2 drinks for 20 dollars. I added everything and it was coming out to 32 dollars that it was going to charge me, so I admittedly, mistakenly thought that the chips and queso and drinks must be added on with me having put in the coupon code, so I took those items off. It came out to 20 dollars, plus the kids meal I ordered, with the coupon active so I thought it was all good.

I get there and they give me my food, but no chips & queso or drinks. So I asked them about it, seeing as in my eyes I had put it into the app. They told me it wasn’t on the receipt, so they couldn’t give it to me. They brought the manager in, and I walked her through what I did. It turns out that it all fell apart in the app because I put in the regular chip instead of the large and that’s why the discount didn’t take originally. Seemingly this whole thing was cleared up, the app wasn’t super well defined and clear, I admit I made a mistake in doing everything, but in the end I paid the same amount in the app that I would have had the deal worked well, so I figured that alongside this very reasonable explanation that we could work it out, I’ve been to other places where this very easily would have been rectified without an issue and they would have honored the special, unfortunately that’s not the case here.

The manager was very very adamant not to help us given the weird situation, and only after persistence did she offer to give me the small chips and queso and no drinks, despite me having paid the same amount either way. She was also just a tad abrasive and unfriendly during the ordeal, which was again very disappointing. We come here fairly often and have liked it in the past, it was just disappointing to see the way management handled a customer issue, and I was left unhappy with how it was handled. It also didn’t help that when we got there the manager was taking a call on her cell phone, and I had to wait for what seemed like a personal call for her help to begin with. It doesn’t come across well.

All that to say, food is good, but don’t expect to resolve issues very easily if you have them.

Update 2/20/26: I am sitting in the same cafe rio waiting for our order, and I can’t help but overhear that another problem is having the exact same issue that we did. Same lady, does absolutely nothing to rectify it. Suddenly she knows English as well, something that she purposefully pretended not to know last time when I was trying to talk to her about the issue. Ultimately my previous review stands the same, good food at this location but awful service. The manager does not care to make sure customers are satisfied, and potentially will even pretend to not know English to try to make it more difficult as well.

Ordered on the app, it said it’d be ready at 7. Arrived at 7 and they said they didn’t start yet. I sat at the closest chair to the register and got on my phone while I waited. It was stifleingly hot inside! At 7:15 I decided to check in again, so I stood at the register and waited for some to come over. Eventually the same person from before came. I told them my name again. They asked the back about the order and they responded it should be at the front. She goes around the corner and gets the food off the shelf and hands it to me. How long was it sitting there!? Why didn’t any one say anything!??! So I took the 3 empty cups and filled them up myself and then put two of them loosely in the giant bag with the food and awkwardly held the 3rd cup in my hand. Why wasn’t there a cup caddy!? Trying no to spill I carried it all out to my car. The food was really good once I got it home. I think I’ll stick with Costa Vida for now. It’s the same food but better service.

I ordered a grilled steak burrito enchilada style with black beans and hatch green chili sauce. What I got was a rice burrito with almost no steak, pinto beans and the mild sauce. No drink or anything else. All this at nearly $15 after tax!! This is way too much for this type of of “fast food”. I wouldn’t recommend this place until someone talks their employees about listening and getting orders right and they actually put meat in their burritos.

I’m actually so sad to post this because cafe Rio has always been on of my favorite places to eat but I keep having problems with finding things in my food that shouldn’t be there.
Specifically in the Sweet pork.
About a year I got a sweet pork salad and found a large clump of arteries/veins in my salad and ended up getting grossed out and tossed the whole thing out.
Today I got another salad and ended up finding a chunk of skin with hair all over it in my food causing me to also throw out the whole salad and almost throwing up.
I’m to the point where I generally might switch to Costa vida as I’ve NEVER found anything gross in their food as of yet.
The employees and customer service however have always been amazing and super friendly.

Bad customer service. There were only 2 cars in line ahead who had already ordered and were waiting at the drive thru window to pay. When we pulled up, the employee asked us to wait a moment, so we did… for over 5 minutes. We decided to pull up to the window to try and order there and the employee just kept saying “Huh? Huh?” No apology, no social skills in the interaction at the window, no standard customer service phrases used, just a “HUH?”

This location has struggled with being able to consistently make quality Cafe Rio food that made them famous! Last night was great…..food was great , service was great! They need more people through the doors so they can keep it going! I hope they can keep it up!

Incapable of following instructions, ordered 6 items and they got every piece wrong, they mixed the orders I ordered and put them in between even when I was very speaking very clearly with enunciation. Not a single item right with this high price. It is 11 dollars for a FLAT DISK with light cheese on it, if I wanted such piss poor quality food I would make it myself and put nearly zero effort into it. Don’t order more than a single item here or the employees will be pissed that they have to do their job what they’re paid to do. Keep in mind that’s 11 dollars for the pictured foods that cost probably less than a dollar to produce.
