Big area inside with lots of seating and nice waitstaff. Prices are on par and the food came out hot and fresh.
It got quite loud by the bar with people there that night.
We were so full and had leftovers for the next night. Definitely going again soon!
We sat inside and there was plenty of space. The atmosphere was nice, with big windows and gorgeous painted walls.
Well, as an person who adores and also cooks Asian food I give this review honestly.
First upon meeting the server I thought how nice, very pretty and very nice. Unfortunatly, that a good server does not make. (See, we owned 3 restaurants in our lifetime so I notice things like good servers).
Asked a question about a dish but she didn’t know what was in it. Ok, maybe she’s new. Showed her a photo from the website but still she had no clue. Its OK I thought, cut her some slack.
Ordered drinks and ordered a Maki as an app. Drinks came. Then we ordered the mains. Server seemed to be rushing the whole are yoinready to order thing. But again I let that go.
Mains came in dribs and drabs and that’s when it went really down hill.
I’d forgive a servers errors if the food was good…but sadly, no.
So, the food:
Fries…undercooked. Lobster fried rice…ok, tough lobster but ok. Then the worst…the General Tso tofu. Omg…that is not General Tao…that was watery brown ginger sauce with steamed broccoli. And when I say ginger I mean excessive amounts of ginger that ruined whatever that was. (And I like ginger).Strike 4? or 5? Im loosing count.
Then the Emperor’s Tofu (I asked for tofu instead of chicken). That in itself didn’t taste too bad. However, it comes in a pretty and edible fried bowl made of rice noodle. I’ve had that before executed perfectly at other restaurants but again, sadly, this was horrible.
The bowl…tasted exactly like it was dipped into cornstarch/ water paste then deep fried. All I could taste was 100% cornstarch. Truly aweful.
There was also some small white balls of edible something. While it looked nice they had no taste and only served to be an annoyance. And there were sooooo many of them! So, I picked them off and dumped out the “edible” bowl cornstarch thingy and just ate the stir fry. Not bad just ok.
Next comes another issue. The check. Well remember that Maki appetizer? Yup we never got it. But there it was on the check! Okey dokey.
Server comes back and just as I say to her…”what happened too the Maki”? She says it’s here showing me a to go container she then sets down…and says “I forgot”. Ok, well Ill give some credit for the honesty, but no, we don’t want it now after we are literally cashing out.
So she takes it back and fixes the check. At this point we were so done, but tried to be nice. She however then brings back the adjusted check and silently puts it on the table quickly and takes off just as quick. Ok…is she scared or just rude? IDK, but it’s not a good night here and none of this experience has been pleasurable nor worth the cost accrued.
Looks, as I said, if the food at least was good I’d let all this go. But it so was not. I have had so much better food from hole in the wall take out Chinese places. That says a lot.
I gotta say, I would never recomend this restaurant to anyone. Sorry. Just being honest.
