Reviews
My wife and I went tonight and I’m still trying to process what happened. Honestly, it felt less like dinner and more like we had just witnessed some kind of culinary crime.
Let me start with the positives. The staff was genuinely friendly, and the space looks fantastic. If you remember when this building was the old Jim’s diner, the renovation is impressive. It’s a beautiful transformation and a great atmosphere.
Unfortunately, the food appears to still be in the pre-renovation phase.
The real shame is that this place has all the ingredients to succeed, great location, beautiful design, and friendly staff. But unless something dramatically changes in the kitchen, I honestly don’t see how this place survives.
Right now it feels like a restaurant that opened before anyone in the kitchen actually tried the food.
I went with my son and daughter. I ordered the chicken, my daughter ordered the pork chop, and my son ordered the steak. As they were serving my kids their meals, the server told me they were out of chicken and asked what I wanted instead. I ordered the steak and was told it would come out quickly.
My kids finished their entire meals and my food still hadn’t arrived. I finally asked them to box it up to go because I was tired of waiting and watching everyone else eat.
Then the bill came — and they had both the chicken (which they didn’t have) and the steak that I had to take home on it.
At the very least, they should have taken the steak off the bill, since I never even got to eat it there. No one offered anything while I waited or even offered refills for drinks or another glass of wine.
Really disappointing service
We ordered plates and soup and two cocktails.
Food came out in a decent time but we never got our drinks. Nobody came over to check on us or even apologize. We had to ask for our cocktails we ordered to be brought to our table. Looked like management was all around walking around the restaurant and nobody even came over to ask how the food was or even apologize for the 20 min wait on cocktails.
Besides the mediocre food and short menu there is nothing special about this place. I don’t care if it’s shift change or doors open, every customer should be welcomed and taken care of in your establishment. I live in Mahncke park and so far not good.
Ps. If you do actually stumble in, the frozen Negroni was not half bad.
