Visited this place on a Tuesday night, made reservations via open table, the parking is located inside the building, we need to scan the QR code which is on the pillar of retail parking and get it validated inside.
We were promptly seated by the host, the service was extremely poor as rightly mentioned by other patrons. I have to rate this 1 for poor service, the server often disappered and forgot to get us forks, or to asks us for the food order. Definitely needs improvement in the service sector.

Food was good, no complaints. We liked everything, the chicken, beef, garlic noodles.. wings and karage was on point.

Would not recommend if the service remains the same.

I had such a wonderful experience at Gyu-Kaku! The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was flavorful and cooked perfectly right at the table, which made the experience even more fun and interactive. My favorite part of the meal was definitely the matcha mochi ice cream. It was the perfect sweet treat to end the night and honestly unforgettable!

The service was excellent. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, very attentive, and so sweet throughout our visit, which made us feel welcomed and well taken care of.

The ambiance was nice, cozy, and romantic — perfect for a date night or a relaxed evening out. Overall, a fantastic dining experience, and I can’t wait to come back again!

**Update: came for lunch with a friend and lunch was just as good as dinner when I came last. Photos added. We both loved it and they said this is about to be their new spot. The miso beef options are my faves

This was my first time here. Everything I had was delicious. We did the $54 endless option with my group. There were about seven of us. all of them had lots of flavor, well seasoned and marinated, and just overall really delicious. I tried Kapot for the first time a couple months ago and that is nothing in comparison to this place. I can’t wait to come back here again.

I recently hosted three of my friends here for a party and the food and service (Steven) was fantastic. For context, I’ve been dining here for over five years and the food and service is consistently very good. Now, like the other reviewer who lived in Japan, I’ve eaten REAL japanese beef. Of course, Gyukaku US does not compare. I’ve paid $30 AN OUNCE in Japan. At Gyukaku, I had an ENTIRE all you can eat meal for $60. So, if you have realistic expectations this is an amazing value. Also, experiment with a little of each meat (I like Yaki Shabu beef) and find your favorites.

Let me start by saying I thought I was going to have the absolute best experience once i tasted the food and it turned out to be the WORST that I ever had! I ended up crying after leaving the establishment.

I have two beautiful identical twin boys. Very sweet boys that love to try different foods. Their dad and myself have always introduced them to new foods and experiences from a very young age. We have been to many restaurants with the twins even from them being infants. Anywhere we go, we are always treated with grace and kindness, my boys are really hard to not love.

WELL……. Shockingly in the middle of dinner, my son was babbling away talking and the manager came over and told my son to be quiet! Literally….. got down to his level and told him that he needs to quiet down. I’m still in shock… he is a happy fella and he does have a pretty high pitch voice but absolutely not obnoxious…. He is very well behaved and knows not to sit down and enjoy a dinner. For the manager to come over and tell my son to be quiet is Absurd!! What if he had been diagnosed with a disability? Exactly how can she think that is ok to walk over and tell somebody happy child enjoying dinner that he needs to be quiet! Our tab was almost $300, we out out ALL the time and tip nicely! I was disgusted!!!!!! I am still disgusted and I will be reporting this and taking this as high up the chain as possible. I will also be reporting to the ADA.

The service is very good and the food is decent. Nothing wrong but it feels like a fast food with a server. Ordered several shareable dishes (6) and they wereall served in less than 5 minutes. Some were at room temperature and not recently cooked. They were good but it felt rushed.

I was disappointed by my experience at Guy-Kaku. I lived in Japan for 4 years and frequently visited different Guy-Kaku locations. When I discovered there was one in my new home I was thrilled to say the least. The restaurant seemed rundown and cramped. The whole atmosphere was just weird and it felt dirty.

We also found the food quality did not match the price point and we could have gotten a better value at a K-pot. At K-Pot the have a great atmosphere reasonably priced menu, with good quality food and you can also get hot pot.

The only saving grace was our incredible server. She was very kind and attentive.

I wanted to love Guy-Kaku, but I just couldn’t and frankly we won’t be back

Our waiter Jorge was great. We enjoyed our experience, and service was quick. Everything we had was amazing. Some of the meats selection was very tender and juicy. In the midst of our meal, fire alarm went off, and we waited 30 minutes outside until the fire Marshall provided clearance to go back in. That didn’t affect our 90-minutes allowed. Definitely will visit again.

Ordering ala carte is probably not the way to go, the meat isn’t bad. The ramen broth and noodles did not impress me. The dumplings were okay and the fried octopus balls are decent, very bready.

Our experience the grill was not heating properly and if ordering ala carte I would expect the kitchen to cook the meats. Overall everything was okay but not super impressive I think the all you can eat deals are probably very worth it.

Gyu-Kaku in Charlotte delivers an incredible dining experience with its flavorful fusion of Japanese cuisine and Korean BBQ, all brought to life by a team of Chinese American restaurateurs—an ironic but impressive twist! The food is undoubtedly the star here, with high-quality meats, rich marinades, and an interactive grilling experience that makes every meal memorable. I’d easily rate the food a solid 5 stars.

The staff is another highlight—attentive, friendly, and efficient, ensuring that guests have a great experience from start to finish.

However, the restaurant itself could use some TLC. The booth seats are well-worn, and the restrooms leave much to be desired. A little renovation would go a long way in elevating the overall experience.

Despite these minor drawbacks, Gyu-Kaku is still a great spot for anyone craving delicious BBQ with bold flavors. If they refresh the space to match the quality of the food and service, it would be an easy 5-star experience across the board.

(Rating: 3 stars overall, 5 stars for food and staff)
