After enjoying the biggest snowstorm we’ve had in a decade, the roads were pretty rough. But not wanting to stay cooped up inside, I called a friend and asked if she wanted to go out for a bite to eat. We searched Google to find any places that might be open and luckily, the Reading Terminal – my favorite spot – was open. While only a few vendors were able to make it in, I’d say the market was running at about half capacity. Parking was easy to find and the inside wasn’t crowded, so we took our time browsing our options. We decided to try Molly Malloy’s, which had a few vegan choices on the menu. It has a nice pub-style vibe and our server was friendly and attentive.

I usually like to do a bit of research before trying a new place, but I didn’t in this case. It’s possible they were understaffed due to the storm, but regardless, the food was a bit of a letdown. We ordered a vegan tahini Caesar salad and a vegan mushroom french dip with fries. The vegan Caesar salad is something I’m passionate about because it’s so easy to make and can taste just as good as a non-vegan version, sometimes even better. This particular salad had kale, romaine, radicchio, crispy chickpeas, croutons, and a lemon tahini dressing. Unfortunately, we both found it to be very bitter and overly dressed with lemon, lacking the tahini flavor. We tried to balance it out with some maple syrup, but it didn’t quite work.

As for the mushroom French dip, I had high hopes, but it fell short. The dip – or au jus – was cold and gelatinous, with decent flavor but not the best presentation in a plastic cup. The ciabatta bread was good, the mushrooms were cooked well, but overall it lacked depth in flavor. I think garlic, rosemary maybe a little onion powder would take this to the next level. While we appreciated the vegan options on the menu, we believe that if you’re going to offer something, make sure it’s the best it can be.

So much food (and well made!) for the price. It was delicious, fast, and cheap. Warning – portions are about twice as big as anyone would expect. Great service, great food.

Stopped in for Sunday brunch and enjoyed great food at reasonable prices in the middle of Reading Market. Our party of 6 was surprisingly seated immediately. Our server Amanda was attentive & very friendly. Had tvs so we could watch the football games. We had the harvest salad (soo good!), pancakes, Nashville hot chicken sandwich, egg biscuit sandwich, & chicken pot pie. The rosemary spritz was refreshing! Highly recommend if looking for a served meal or bar option while in the market.

Chili Honey Garlic Wings
Philly Cheesesteak

The wings were the perfect appetizers. There was a perfect ratio of heat and sweet.

For the most part, I enjoyed the Philly cheesesteak. For a small up charge, I added mushrooms, sautéed onions, and peppers. My only critique is that there wasn’t enough shaved steak. Otherwise, it was a great sandwich!

Aside from the service, our server was very attentive. He even gave us directions to a site my girlfriend and I was planning to visit.

Extremely disappointed. Asked for a Philly cheesesteak to go. Arrived home and the meat to vegetable and cheese ration was 1:10. Maybe about 2 oz of meat on my Philly cheesesteak, and that is me being generous. Pictures and reviews very deceiving. Again, extremely disappointed. Do not recommend

I’ve been to reading terminal when I lived in philadelphia and it can get overwhelming on a regular day as it is a tourist must see. This time I got breakfast early, our hotel was walking distance. Molly Malloy’s didn’t disappoint ! Plenty of seating area and customer service was prompt with a smile. What I loved the most is the quality of ingredients used and large seating area.

Visited Philly for the annual Philadelphia Flower Show and stopped into the Reading Market afterwards for a bite to eat. My two girlfriends and I are familiar with this yearly ritual of trying to secure a location to sit down and enjoy a meal during the rush of visitors to the area. This year we found Molly Malloy’s and inquired about a table. We were told 15 minutes and gave our name to the receptionist. A party of 4 was sat in a matter of minutes and in a short time we were lead to a high top corner table to relax and enjoy a delicious lunch. The open style pub is bustling with people everywhere and quite exciting. The staff is friendly and quick to please. We ordered standard food and drink and enjoyed it thoroughly. I got a cheese burger that had two patties perfectly prepared, a large portion of melted cheese pickles and crunchy chips as a side. One friend ordered the tomato grill cheese sandwich and devoured it. And my other friend had the burger as well and said her choice was perfect as well. We ordered sodas and water to drink and enjoyed each other’s company. We chatted briefly with the table right next to us, they all had very positive things to say both about the food and experience in general. We will definitely head to this restaurant next year and look forward to possibly coming in another time or two!

It is a great spot for a casual meal with a lively atmosphere. Located in the Reading Terminal Market, it has a cozy, pub-like vibe that’s perfect for grabbing a couple drinks or a bite to eat. The Cheesesteak with chips was the best I’ve ever had. The brussel sprouts are also a secret tip. They are really good and the size is enough for three people to share.
The service is friendly, and the location makes it convenient for a quick stop while exploring the market.
