It’s a cozy, small spot, so there was a short wait, but trust me—it’s worth it. Don’t let a crowd at the door deter you; the turnover is quick. We ordered two cornbread club sandwiches served on jalapeño cornbread, and I can honestly say I’ve never had a sandwich quite like it. I’m a sandwich enthusiast, but this was a revelation—sinfully delicious. Paired with their homemade dumplings, it was a match made in heaven.
Kitt’s is famous for its pies, so we couldn’t resist trying the double chocolate pie and the frozen peanut butter pie. Both were fantastic, with crusts that were pure perfection. We’re already planning our return, eager to explore more of the menu, though that cornbread club has definitely stolen our hearts.

My wife and I were in Jefferson for Valentine’s day – President’s day long weekend. On our first try for lunch the line was out the door so we decided to try again the next day. It was definitely worth the wait. The cornbread sandwiches were amazing. The meats were not some pre-sliced deli meat. The tomatoes on my sandwich were perfectly ripe and flavorful. I just wished my sandwich was a little bigger. It felt more like a half sandwich. I guess that works out well so that you have room for some of their delicious pies. I also loved the chicken and dumplings. I believe I tasted mushrooms in it, which gave it a different, more rich and earthy flavor than traditional chicken and dumplings. They would not divulge any info on the ingredients or recipe.

Finally after so many years and several tries we are here at this fabulous restaurant. We have heard about it all the way to Tyler Gilmer. It’s very clean and linit d sitting though so if you plan coming over to have the famous cornbread then come early. The food was super delicious, good taste, color and consistency. Well cooked and it makes you eat more. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone out there. Oh by the way the pies were super delicious.

We were through Jefferson two years ago and enjoyed a meal here enough that when we passed through again we made a special stop. The Redneck sandwich was delicious. Wife enjoyed her meal as well. The origin story is also interesting. Such a nice place in a cute tourist town.

Just stopped here for lunch while on a weekend trip to Jefferson. So glad we found this absolute jewel. The chili: AMAZING. The chicken and dumplings: I HAVE NO WORDS. This is the REAL deal… the old school are you sure my Mamaw ain’t back there in the kitchen kind of chicken and dumplings. The jalapeño cornbread, a hundred stars. This lunch filled my stomach and my soul.
(Also- lovely staff and we loved the nice oldie tunes floating in the air. Etta James is playing now, seriously?! )

The food was amazing! But they did not have enough people working there, no one come to ask if we needed a refill. It was very busy which is a good thing if you have enough people.

This place is very good! I live in SS TX and I drive 2 hours to try it out. It was worth the drive. Their pies are amazing!! Try the chocolate cherry mmmm service was very good!

Outstanding! The food and pies are so very delicious. We had a little wait as they were very busy. It was well worth it. Also, you will not find a nicer group of waitresses. They go above and beyond. I loved everything about the place. Wish I lived closer.

Upon first arriving the staff seats you most efficiently. The menu is simple but with so many great choices. I couldn’t decide between soup or a sandwich and most fortuitously the had a combo option for a sandwich and a soup. I had the recommended ham and Turkey club and the chili. Y’all! I have had a lot of chili in my life and by far this is the best chili I’ve ever eaten!!! Then to top it off I enjoyed their bread pudding with amaretto sauce which was warm, moist, sweet and ah-mazing!!!

Kitt’s Kornbread Sandwich shop was amazing! I’ve never heard of a kornbread sandwich. I certainly didn’t know I wanted one until we were passing through the area and saw their great reviews. Now, I know why! I had “The Club” on Jalapeño cornbread, and it was so much better than I could have ever imagined. If you’re passing through Jefferson, TX. I highly encourage you to stop into this small town gem!
