Great food and great people. The lady up front has been here for almost a year and took such good care of me. Dinned in and she saw I was struggling to finish and brought me a bag to take my left overs. Lived in sac town nearly 20 years ago and the food is still hella on point! This Hawaiian restaurant in the Arden Arcade area delivered a meal full of warmth and comfort. The kalua pork was tender and smoky without being heavy, and the mac salad had just the right balance of creaminess and seasoning. I visited L&L Hawaiian Barbecue at 1900 Fulton Ave, Sacramento, and while the ambiance and portions were fine, I found a particular charge that struck me as absurd. After ordering a plate, I asked for a replacement of the cabbage at the bottom of the dish (not a major substitution, just a swap-out of the shredded or sautéed cabbage that came underneath). I was charged nearly $4.00 extra for that simple change. Charging almost four dollars to switch the cabbage in a dish that already comes with it felt like nickel-and-diming—not justified by any visible increase in cost or preparation complexity.
That extra fee left a sour note on the visit. I understand restaurants need to cover labor and overhead, but when the item substituted is simply the cabbage layer already part of the presentation, it feels more like a hidden upsell than a reasonable fee. Unless the restaurant clearly posts and explains such charges on the menu (which I did not see), the practice risks eroding customer trust. I left feeling I got the food I ordered, but also a somewhat unfair surprise on the bill.

Absolutely the worst service in the history of the restaurant industry. It’s like you’re an inconvenience to them for even being there. I just cannot believe the rudeness of these people, the owner being one of them. It’s like umm…hello…it’s because of us customers that you can even keep your place up and running, correct? Spam misubi was not the quality I have had in the past. The seaweed was a light brown and sooo tough, I could barely tear it with my teeth. The employees tried to tell me that’s how it’s supposed to be. Won’t be back until the misubi (my favorite item) is prepared better .

I ordered the barbecue chicken mini. They said it was two pieces. Got home to eat and had no idea what it was. It was not chicken and I have no idea exactly what it was. I still had a few bites and just a few minutes after I ate it I blew up like I was 6 months pregnant. And about at they time I got sicker than a dog. Everything went right through me and I got sick all over the place. It wad my first time there and I was happy to be finely eating there. First time and last time I will ever eat there. And more than three hours later Im still sick.
