I definitely didn’t get as much brisket as I expected for the price I paid, which would have been okay, except for the fact most of what I got wasn’t meat, just fat. Which I guess some people enjoy the fat, but probably not this much, and I’m not one of them. In the picture, everything in the circle, is pure squishy (and imo inedible) fat. What little actual meat I did get was good, though. I’ll try asking specifically for no fat next time, maybe they will accommodate that?

As a KCBS certified BBQ judge, I usually have low expectations for pork in North Carolina, most of it tasting more roasted than smoked. Driving through here. Here I stopped by because I wanted to try another local barbecue restaurant which I always do. The pulled pork sandwich was phenomenal and spectacular. Tender meat, Smokey, a rich flavor. Each sauce that I had, South Carolina, Western North Carolina, and Memphis, had unique twists on each. All of them home made at the restaurant. If you’re smoking is done on site. I will be returning when I’m through here to try other things on the menu, but this absolutely hit the spot. By the way, the potato salad, savory, extremely good, great portion, filling, and delicious! Please please keep this place open!

I had the best bbq sandwich hands down that I have ever tasted, cold slaw and delicious fried okra and tea.
I ate it ideliciousness! said out loud how delicious the food was upon each bite. After I finished I wanted to tell them thank you for a delicious meal and how much I enjoyed it. I went in and felt a sense of a shift in the prior friendly atmosphere. I thanked them and told them how delicious it was and did not receive a welcomed thank you or that they were glad I enjoyed the food or please come again. Ice cold as if I was a complete bad interuption to their day.
I am not from around the Murphy area and have no idea when I will be back. I treat myself to dinner every week hoping to try somewhere new. I go anywhere from fast foods to fine dining. I am finding out quickly that tasty food is not hard to find but good customer service, thoughtfulness and at the very least average (definitely not above average but below average) is the norm. I work in fine dining and treat my customers the way I would like to be treated. This isn’t what I get in return. I tip well even when treated subpar.
I recommend this restaurant 100% and would go back despite how I was treated. I dont know many people that would go back inside of a restaurant to say thank you and brag how good it was. I will keep being kind and I am sure some day it will be reciprocal.
God Bless and keep up the deliciosness!

Was getting gas. Looked up and saw this place right next door. Figured I would give it a try. Boy am I glad I did. Had the pulled pork sandwich. It was excellent! Great smoky flavor. I will stop here the next time I’m in Murphy. Please, Big Nick, open a place in Franklin. There Isn’t a good BBQ place in that town.

I ordered online, the BBQ meal for 4-6 and I mentioned in the online order that one of us had a gluten allergy. Danny, the manager, contacted me shortly after to ask questions and make sure that everything was prepared safely. Everyone loved the brisket and pork, we had the baked beans, potato salad and cole slaw, everything was perfect, and very reasonably priced, with 4 people we had seconds and leftovers. We used to get BBQ elsewhere in Murphy, it will be Big Nicks from here on out!

My husband and I stopped here on our way to our honeymoon, and everything was wonderful! The food was delicious, and the service was amazing. They even noticed we were newlyweds and surprised us with a free dessert!

Just passing by i smelled the food. I had to turn my truck around. Which was a good idea because I found parking.
I had the turkey sandwich with a side of beans. I really enjoyed it and I will return for another meal in the future.
Enjoy

We live about 1.5 hours from here and came on a recommendation from a friend. We got the rib and brisket platter which come with 2 sides per platter and a bread roll. The sides, their sauce and sweet tea were really good. Hush puppies and Mac and cheese were great, and the waffle fries were probably the best I’ve ever had. However, the ribs and brisket were not what we expected. I live in the South and frequent BBQ places often, and I’ve never had ribs with as little meat as were on these. I scooped off the meat from my 3-bone platter and could easily fit all the meat in just the palm of one hand. The picture of the ribs my friend showed me he had were meaty and looked phenomenal, mine looked like soup bones. The brisket was good and you had more meat than the ribs, but were a little tough. It seemed to be left under a heat lamp for a little too long. I know the restaurant business is tough and there are off days, so we may have just showed up on an off day. We may try Nick’s again because you can definitely taste that the flavor is there, but there needs to be more consistency with the product delivered. The one thing that is consistent is that the drive to Murphy is beautiful. You won’t be disappointed getting here!

I don’t like leaving negative reviews but, sometimes you just got to be honest. I have ate a lot of BBQ in North Carolina. It was Eastern Carolina BBQ, But this was almost uneditable . I got a pound of pork and a pound of brisket. One side and two egg rolls. The brisket was a box of fat, the pork had no taste.

The brisket was really tasty but had a good bit of fat. I had the brisket sandwich which had just a little fat and my husband had a brisket platter and it was about a 1/4 to 1/2 of it was fat. It was really good tasting, they just really need to watch the fat content. Slaw was really good and waffle fries were good.
