Imagine driving two hours to get home everyday. Imagine stopping at a black owned restaurant on your way home before the storm hit because you often supported this restaurant since grand opening because of the desire to support people of your kind with quality food, and determination to be successful. Imagine going in to order and an employee/adult child is UPSET you came in to order food. Imagine the customer’s children sitting in the car waiting for their mom to come back with food to feed them but have to hear how the distasteful employee/adult child speaks how “fat” their mother is to come there to get food and your “lucky” that the owner served them FOR SIMPLY COMING IN TO BUY FOOD…. IMAGINE THAT.

This made the experience uncomfortable and took away from what should have been an enjoyable visit. The disrespect, the rude behavior, and the unprofessionalism from people (there was more people working there apparently outside also) who work there, behaved poorly and honestly I’m disappointed. I expect better especially if my husband and I money is spent there.

Hopefully, someone from management can review and address the nature of this situation. It’s not anything cute, funny, or likeable about it.

Please do better!

This experience fell short of the standard.

I don’t like my food I’m a soul food expert. I got the dry ribs Mac n yams the Mac tasted like velvetta only reason I came here frfr is because of the sides but the Mac wasn’t like the old Mac n the pics it wasn’t made with eggs it was watery I looked at a lot of old pics before deciding to come to this restaurant I thought it was baked Mac n cheese so I was very disappointed with this. Yams was ok but the texture wasn’t consistent and a lot of cinnamon . The ribs looked moist in some ppl pics but mines was a lil dry even tho they were dry ribs the meat was actually dry. My fruit punch wasn’t sweet enough. Got 6 cornbread’s they threw them in a white bag and half them was sticky at the top and the top pieces of the cornbread was stuck to the bag I ate one and it was dry like they tried to put simple syrup or honey on it. I’ll give this place another try only because my bf said his chopped jerk chicken and cabbage was good and also I liked the Cajun shrimp that I got on the side with my ribs the sauce was good and probably would’ve better to just get some rice with it instead of trying to be fancy with the side orders

I am a huge carribean food person and this place ranks among some of the greatest. Wasn’t a big fan of the jerk chicken but was still good. Couldn’t get with the smoke flavor. Also tried the oxtail and this was very tender and tasty. Wifey had the shrimp pasta pasta and she really enjoyed it. Also tried the rum cake and a carrot cake from Britnae’s cupcakes and Tingz. They were moist and delicious.

The jerk chicken did not disappoint – but not amazing enough for 5-stars. The sauce was heavy and it overpowered the “smoke” that is important for the dish. I had good smoke on the very first bight and I thought “oh my, this is going to be on point” but then the sauce started working on me and I lost the groove.

Service: Seriously, let’s pay attention to people and not your phone!!!!! I walk up and she needs to finish her reel before she can even talk to me. Then the order is given. She is non verbal- except to say the price. Then my food is done and on the counter… have to finish the next reel before handing over my food with ZERO eye contact. No thanks for coming. That is a place I would spend a little time and attention if I’m the owner.

The place is clean and nice to sit at and eat. Maybe it gets busy at night? At 2:00 I was the only customer.

Very misleading menu. The item is listed as “Catfish Dinner – Catfish with Fried Shrimp” for $23.50, which clearly suggests the meal comes with shrimp. To be sure, I called the restaurant before ordering, and the young lady I spoke with told me to select that item and that it would come with 5 shrimp.

When I picked up my order, there were no shrimp, and I was told the meal doesn’t come with shrimp at all. That directly contradicts both the menu description and what I was told on the phone.

Also, there is nothing on the website saying you have to choose between catfish or shrimp, or that selecting catfish means you get 5 shrimp. There is no substitution option listed. The menu simply says “Catfish with Fried Shrimp,” which is straight misleading.

I’m not trying to disrespect the restaurant — I’m just sharing my honest experience. Customers should be able to trust that the menu description matches what they actually receive.

Hopefully management reviews this and updates the menu so other customers don’t run into the same confusion.

Wife has been bugging me to go to this place. Ill give it 5 stars. We were there at 5:00pm on a Saturday (8/16). Food took a while but everything tasted fresh. Nothing was over/under cooked. I had the Catfish Dinner, with a side of Plaintains & Cornbread. Grabbed 2 Crab Cake Egg Rolls while I was at it, and a Fountian Drink.

The Catfish was perfect (to my taste).
The Plaintains were perfect (to my taste).
The Corn Bread, reminded me more of yellow cake than corn bread, but it was good. My wife the expert say it was fine its just the way it was milled?¡ I dont know shes the taste expert lol. And the Egg Rolls were good, great actually. They were just missing something, couldn’t put my finger on it. Just maybe a dash more old bay. Again, this is just a personal preference thing. All and all it was a 10 out 10. Its good to have fresh restaurants in the area vs the same old thing. Good job.

I would love to share my experience. First I found this place on TikTok, food looked amazing, I love to support black owned businesses and again I love to try food. My first experience was maybe a few months ago, my fiance and I decided to try because again the food looked amazing from the tiktok review. We tried the jerk salmon eggrolls , jerk chicken sandwich with coca bread, oxail with sides & the ribs. Everything was amazing, saucy , tender & flavorful. We do not stay in La plata so we drove about an hour to try the food ( we placed our order online since it takes a hour to be ready ). The second time we went , my fiance and I got the samething again because he liked the oxtail. The second time the oxtail portion was way smaller than before and the jerk salmon eggrolls were just okay…Lacking a bit of sauce but still flavorful.
….We decided to come today because we were in the area, ordered our food online and it said it should be done around 5:54pm. We arrived around 5:50pm ish and the food wasnt ready til after 6. Thats fine since everything is cooked to order, no rush. We always check and taste our food because theres no refunds and we want to make sure we get what we’re paying for. Everything tasted well EXCEPT the JERK SALMON EGGROLLS. The eggrolls had no flavor and was extremely dry. It was like the cook just added salmon & peppers to the eggroll…. not saucy, not flavorful…compared to the first time we’ve had it. Those were rushed lol. We asked the lady working at the front to see if they could just add sauce to the eggrolls, she stated “ it would be an up charge “ No, we explained the eggrolls were dry… She then asked if we would like a refund or it remade , my fiance insisted on it being remade but the lady stated “ its the same cook, it may be made the sameway “ which kind of rubbed me the wrong way because hey… just let the cook know to add more sauce to the eggrolls ? It’s not like we were asking alot , just some type of jerk sauce on the salmon eggrolls….it literally just tasted like salmon, peppers and onions. Anywho… it was remade , it tasted the same, not saucy, just again.. salmon and peppers, i do not taste the “ jerk” … Anyway…this place is very inconsistent, what drew us to this establishment was the eggrolls. Won’t be returning.

Yjis was my first time there. The service was great, the place looks quaint and nice. The food was delicious especially the cabbage. The rice was a bit undercooked to my taste, but I would go again.
The new bartender was super engaged and courteous, keep up the good work Olden.

About two years ago, I visited this restaurant and, unfortunately, had a less-than-satisfactory experience. From the beginning, I noticed that my husband and I were not greeted by the staff, which set a disappointing tone for our visit. When we received our food, we found a strand of hair in one of the dishes.

We brought this to the attention of the restaurant, hoping for a resolution. However, the owner seemed more focused on discussing who the hair might belong to rather than addressing the issue itself. It felt like there was a missed opportunity for a sincere apology or properly acknowledgment of the situation. By the time the owner finished playing Who Done It, with her staff she apologized and offered a gift card to my husband and by then the damage was done.

Recently, I shared my experience in a Facebook post, and the owner engaged in a conversation with me. Unfortunately, she continued to downplay the incident with the hair in the food. This makes me concerned about the restaurant’s commitment to sanitation and customer care. I’ve attached a screenshot of our conversation for reference. I hope the restaurant can take this feedback constructively to improve their service and ensure a better experience for future customers.

Karibbean Fire catered our homecoming lunch, and did an AMAZING job. We were able to have sample plates of the food we wanted way in advance to ensure we enjoyed the taste of what we would be serving. She made sure to accommodate our needs, built a menu for us, and gave suggestions on what would be best based on budget and party size. Come homecoming day our food was delivered on time, fresh, hot, and ready to be served. Food is well seasoned and the woman behind the scene are LOVELY. No complaints about the food come homecoming day. Everything was amazing throughout the entire experience!
