Long-standing, old-fashioned family-run eatery offering many homestyle Italian entrees.

A classic American Italian restaurant. The potato gnocchi were spot on and I got exactly what I wanted. The seafood chowder that came with it was really good, too. The dessert was a total disappointment, the cheesecake didn’t look or taste fresh, and it was too sweet with little flavor.
The waitress was very nice and attentive. I’ll definitely be back.

Went here for lunch today and tried the beef braciole.
Super tasty, soft and meaty, 3 large balls of beef and some penne pasta to complement. Just the right amount without over doing it.
Followed by a coffee which was good too.
This place once hosted Richard Nixon for lunch. Spoke with the owner John who is friendly and passionate about the food and the business . His father came over from Naples to set it all up after the WW2. He’s now 92 and still comes to help cook daily.
Some great stories shared by John about the family and food. Nicely laid out restaurant. Worth a visit when on the trail heading to Catskills!

We went for the lunch special. I had a really good beef stroganoff. The rice balls were to die for. Could have made a meal out of those. Our waitress was very attentive. It’s a beautiful place. Definitely want to go back and try something for dinner. If you were up in the Hyde Park area, it’s definitely a place you want to stop for a meal!

What started off as a sad and somber day with the funeral for my grandmother ended with a very high note: after the visiting hours we gathered at Cappola’s Restaurant in Hyde Park. This is a spot my family has been going to for generations. Well, when I was a kid I got dragged to some family function 20 years ago that I was very bored at. I wound up scraping plates and working in the kitchen that day (I was about 9 or 10 years old at the time.) I latched onto John Cappola’s arm and was given a full tour of the restaurant, $5 cash for helping out, and a life experience that I will never forget! John and I took some pictures that day, I asked him to autograph a menu for me, and I decided I wanted to go into the restaurant business. He talked me out of it, which I was quite glad he did because I wound up going into coins and antiques a few years later.
John, you showed me that day the value of hard work, the concept of what the American dream is all about, and how to hustle in business. Interestingly enough, John said he wondered what had happened to me just a couple of days prior to today! John’s family started this legendary restaurant on Main Street in Poughkeepsie back in 1961. They subsequently went to open the restaurant in Hyde Park where he and his brothers still run it today. “Cappola’s: a Hudson Valley Tradition Since 1961!”
Thank you for mentoring me and showing me the restaurant game that day. I look forward to seeing you again soon

Classic Italian-American well-known local’s dining room. Booths & tables. Casual. Hidden bar nook & a private room. Maitre d’ seats u. Down home friendly staff. Low key lighting. Had a great IPA tho plenty of decent. Nice portions. Small pizza feeds 2 & then some. Tangy BBQ chicken pizza had that artisan-style stone oven crust came out lookin beautiful. Spring salad with baby greens, candied walnuts, dries cranberries & goat cheese was generous & tasty. The real deal – Italian NY cheesecake – large slice.
For 2 ppl easy.
Creamy & heavenly eliciting a wow.
Some say it’s past its prime but locals love it & it certainly measured up for me. Gluten-free recommended if u tend to bloat. They use a robust flour. Secret tip: side menu includes a $5 slice of lasagna & their $4 eggplant rollatini, clam sauce. For those who’ve got nuthin’ there’s still a little somethin for ya – coupla little dishes, glass of wine… out for $20 if u have to. I spent $62 incldg tax/tip w/ a beer, a drink & dessert. Thats value today folks! Enjoy!

Convenient location and nicely decorated. Full bar and spacious dining room. Clean bathroom and friendly waitstaff. The food is delicious and fairly priced. About three beers on draft. For dessert, waitstaff brings out an actual tray which displays samples of the cakes, mousses and pies available, which is every effective. In January 2023, the Dutchess County Libertarian Party convened at this location.

I recently dined at the Coppola restaurant in Hyde Park, and it was truly an exquisite experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a delightful meal. This place seemed to be a local favorite. The standout dish for me was the Bistro Cheese Tortellini – a perfect balance of creamy cheese filling and al dente pasta, beautifully coated in a savory sauce. Each bite was a burst of flavor, showcasing the chef’s skill and attention to detail. The staff was attentive, enhancing the overall dining pleasure. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone seeking an authentic and delicious Italian culinary journey in Hyde Park.

I ordered online through the Slice app and they must not be familiar with the app because we had to argue a bit to get our pick up order right. My meat lasagne was mostly cheese had a blue rubber band sitting right on top of it. I was hungry so I did eat around it sadly. I asked for extra sauce and didn’t get it. I asked for ranch dressing for my salad and didn’t get it. We ordered chicken Parmesan dinner and didn’t get any spaghetti with the order. We ordered Cannoli’s and the filling was sour, nothing sweet about it. We just spent over $100 for dinner and was truly disappointed.

The owner greeted us and remembered us when we came back the next time, including what we ate. His father, at 90, still comes in every day to prepare his signature veal osso bucca. Make the trip up to Hude Park!
